We ordered the Elotes off the cob ($11.99) and the Molcajete ($30) which is grilled fajita steak, chicken, chorizo, shrimp, onions, nopal cactus and cheese. We also ordered one Margarita ($16). We first experienced a Molcajete in a restaurant in Mazatlan, Mexico and fell in love with it and all of its ingredients including the cactus. This Molcajete at Cocina Maya was soooo tasty. Served in an actual Molcajete which is made from lava rock and it holds the heat very very well. We shared this between the two of us and still had a decent amount to bring home with us. The Elotes was very tasty and the corn was nice and firm and it was perfect. Service was friendly and attentive. The dining room is light in colors and there is a lot of light that shines through the windows. This restaurant is a good distance from our home, and well worth the drive to it. We most definitely recommend this tasty restaurant.

Unfortunately, the restaurant experience was pretty disappointing compared to that first impression. The space itself feels a little sterile, although the service staff was friendly and nice. We ordered the al pastor and chicken tacos, and I also tried the tamales and my friend's fish tacos. Unfortunately, everything felt a bit dry and under-seasoned. The masa on the tamales in particular was very dry. The drinks were just okay as well, they tasted pretty weak compared to the cocktails we had at the Yelp event. It's a shame because I really enjoyed what I tried at the event and went in expecting a lot more. Maybe we just caught them on an off day, but based on the difference between the two experiences, I left pretty disappointed.

If you are unfamiliar with pupusas, they are a Salvadoran culinary delight. Think of them as a glorious meat pancake and you will only get to about halfway to the glory of what a pupusa can be. Pulling into a shopping plaza that has definitely seen better days. Parking was a bit limited, but not too much of an ordeal. El Paraiso Latino is certainly a very humble place, the kind of establishment that you would not look at twice, but missing this place would indeed be your loss. It is usually at these hole-in-the-wall type places that you will find some great food and here was no exception. I ordered two pupusas and a steak taco. The steak taco was a bit small, however it was tasty. The pupusas were decently sized and were also tasty. Prices were a little higher than what I normally pay, but not by much. This lunch was a bit over twelve dollars and I walked out feeling stuffed and contented.

The only redeeming qualities were the service was fast/friendly and the presentation is very nice. But as others mentioned, the salsa is strange and much like everything else has no flavor. I ordered a $12 margarita to start and it came in a comically small glass. We ordered the yucca fries and they looked perfectly golden and nicely sized but were nearly inedible from how salty they were. Thankfully the server took it off the bill. My husband got the chile relleno which boasted roasted vegetables but I guess they were referring to the undercooked sweet mini peppers stuffed inside? Also I'm not sure they have a heat lamp for staging. Nothing was hot when it arrived and the cheese his relleno rested on had congealed. I ordered the chicken street tacos which also looked very nice when it arrived but were dry, unseasoned, grilled chicken strips with pickled onions on top but then cilantro and white onions on the side and more of those sweet peppers. I think they're relying pretty heavily on them to provide Mexican flavor but they do not. I want to go on but I don't want to be rude... it's just so objectively bad and overpriced. There are plenty of Mexican restaurants that are worth an extra 15 minute drive so I do not recommend. Sorry jag

I have seen quite a few good reviews recently on yelp and decided I would give them a try after therapy the other day. It was around 10:30 in the morning and I had not had breakfast and I figured this was as good as day as any to give this place a try. When I walked in it was still quiet in the place and I was immediately greeted by employees. I walked over to take a look at the menu board as I was not sure what to order. I did realize that the menu was a bit different from what I had seen online, but that was OK. I chatted with the gentleman behind the counter to get some suggestions and I settled on a burrito as this is a fairly good way to judge this type of place. Like so many other burrito places before we went over options for how I would like to have mine assembled. They have two kinds of rice available and I got some of each in mine. I'm not allowed beans so I skipped right over them and went right onto proteins. There are quite a few good choices and the only thing that wasn't quite ready. Was the ground beef when I got there. For me this was fine because that was not what I wanted. I settled on the Barbacoa. I added a little bit of pico, some salsa Verde, hot salsa, pickled jalapeños, cilantro, red onion, cheese and lettuce. This ended up being a very well packed burrito that he struggled to get closed up. In the end, everything was packed inside. I did dining and added a fountain drink. My burrito had some really good weight to it as it was truly packed with goodness. From the first bite to the last, it was really good. I think the only thing I might've changed would've been to add more jalapeños to it. I do like mine kind of spicy. Next time I might even try one of their signature sauces. This is a nice little restaurant. It was very clean with friendly help. There are accessible spaces near the entrance, although the entrance is not accessible. I'm actually looking forward to stopping back one morning and trying one of their breakfast burritos. Honestly, if you were looking for a good burrito, this is a better choice than a lot of the other fast food burrito places that we have probably all gone to. For now, this will be my go to place when I am in the mood. They even have a taco Tuesday special so I might have to stop in and try that one of these weeks.
