Im usually the one who doesn't complain much but doesn't return to an establishment with poor food or service. I drove from Mississippi to eat there this morning: with it being catfish Friday and I don't eat pork or eggs I thought according to the photos it's a win; well I was proven wrong today. the fish was awful and asked specifically for sides I wanted so the lady at the register stated I couldn't get the hash brown casserole and molasses with fish she said it had to be fish sandwich, fish biscuits or the plate. well the plate came with hush puppies, slaw and a whole cup of tartar sauce which all went to waste, the fish was fried while frozen. you would think specialty would be fresh and appealing only one day a week. I should've known when the cashier said we don't have catfish to just leave but the wom who seems to be training her said they did. so I purchased the meal a blackberry cobbler brought it straight home to place in the fridge for dinner when removed from the bag it's molded . growing hair. I've tried calling back but no answer so far. I have photos hopefully I can post. I would not recommend this place to anyone . The pictures are very appealing but todays meal was a mess , total waste of time and money. the only food in the visit today was the dining room waitress . read more

This is clearly a town favorite. The line was out the door the entire time we were there and no one was complaining. I think they are known for their biscuits but the star for me was the freshly mixed and grilled pancakes. They just melt in your mouth. Real eggs. Ham steaks two ways. Huge omelettes packed with whatever filling you select. You will not be let down. I was stuffed and didn't make it through half of my meal. Please be aware, this is a cash only location. So have your coins ready because they don't do plastic. Enjoy! read more

This is not where you go for a slow-paced, lazy weekend brunch. Instead, this is a vibrant diner. Unapologetically tight in space, the team there makes up for any inconvenience with outstanding food and service. The food is honest, simple and delicious. Too generous. The fact that a country fried steak with egg biscuit can be followed by good peach cobbler at 8 o'clock in the morning is mind blowing. Did I mention the prices are reasonable and all of it with a smile? The waitress / busboy lady expediter is nothing short of amazing. She has an instinct for everyone's needs at once, moving inside and out with utter precision and intent. I am so impressed and humbled by her. This is easily the best breakfast you're going to get in Memphis. Give yourself over to the order line. Believe you'll find a seat and go ahead and treat yourself to all the meats...and desserts. read more

@bryantsmemphis made me believe in breakfast again. I walked in thinking, "How good can it really be? How much better can simple bacon, eggs, and pancakes be than other places?" Well, honey, it'll blow your mind. Kinda makes me wonder what kinda swill I've been eating elsewhere. The pancakes with sausage IN it knocked my socks off. I wasn't that hungry and ate all three - and they were huge! And the biscuits? Perfection. The eggs? The most perfect sunny side up eggs I've ever had. The bacon? Crispy and delicious. THAT is how you do breakfast! I'm sure I gained a ton of weight from this one meal...but ehhh, who cares? It was worth it. The other reviews have said it too but they only take cash and are always crowded. Kinda like pain being beauty...the lines are worth the deliciousness. read more

My husband thought the line was too long at Brother Juniper's so we went to the second breakfast place I had bookmarked. Sigh. We should have just stayed. We waited in line and both ordered the sampler and oj. We found a seat easily and the meal was delivered. I tried everything. Probably the worst breakfast of my life. It was bathed in salt broth, the meats were overdone cakes of salt. The coffee was hard to get to and the meal was just really low quality. I did enjoy the biscuits. I am sorry Memphis, I have had all good times and good experiences in your great city but this was not my kind of place. read more

Great home poked breakfast & quick too! I decided to go here after SEVERAL recommendations from locals. It's a little odd at first, you wait in line in the middle of the restaurant to order. The line moves quick, so you won't feel awkward for long. You place your order & then wait for a table to open up. We only had to wait a minute or so luckily. I ordered the veggie omelet, which comes with 3 (?!!!!) biscuits, grits, & gravy. My boyfriend had the pancake breakfast & upgraded to blueberry pancakes. His breakfast came with two eggs & a side of meat. We had more than enough food for the two of us. My omelet was a little soupy, but still tasty. It was a unique dining experience, even though it was packed, we still ordered & had our food within 20 minutes, maybe less. We'll now be one of the locals sending people here! read more

Having been truly blown away by another Memphis staple in the form of Earnestine & Hazel's, I was good and ready the next morning for what was described to me as by far the best breakfast in town. Long story short? I think I was disappointed because I didn't have any real ties to the city of Memphis or Bryant's as a whole, and what had to be strictly an objective review based on the food lead to a bit of disappointment. Star 1: How were the service and atmosphere? One thing I did absolutely love about Bryant's Breakfast was that in many it's the product of it's community, which is a rarity these days with the ever growing grasp of various chains and fast casual spots. Bryant's Breakfast is every bit as Memphis as the city itself, and the line of locals out the door should be more than enough to tell you that. As most reviews touch on, people have grown up on Bryant's as if it were Sunday church itself, and while jam packed with sparse seating and a line that will have you waiting likely 30 or more minutes on a weekend morning, you'll enjoy the wait. Star Granted. Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost? While locals tell me that prices have gone up especially over the past year or so, my massive sample (known as "The Sampler", was $10.00, and was the most expensive thing on the menu. Five meats, three biscuits and three eggs for $10? Value if ever it existed. Star Granted. Stars 3 and 4: How was the food? Unfortunately, "you get what you pay for" came to mind a bit when I finally dug into my sampler platter. The highlight of this dish was without question the biscuits, which were excellent, but the eggs and all of the meats were weak. The pork tenderloin? tough and dry. The country and city hams? salty to the point of not being edible. The bacon and sausage? both overcooked to the point of lacking flavor. The potato patty was another highlight, but I'm struggling to believe that this was housemade. While my friend's biscuit sandwiches were a bit better, I can't help but feel that my dish was less than even a sum of its parts, and I walked away full but disappointed. No Stars Granted. Star 5: Would you eat here every day if you could? I loved the local flair and sense of community at Bryant's Breakfast, but for me it's the quality of the food that mattered as much as the atmosphere, and it's there at Bryant's fell well short. Sure, there's value, and a visit to Bryant's is an experience above all else, but the food was lacking, and I've very often experienced better. No Star Granted. read more

I love Bryant's Breakfast. I have never gone where I have not had to wait in line but the food comes out quickly and there has always been an available seat once we have ordered. The everything omelette is in fact EVERYTHING and a must order every time for me. I cycle through the yummy pancake options and usually attempt to share with my fellow diners. This is a treat hidden in Memphis that I make calculated efforts to always partake of when I am in town. Hands down the best omelette I have ever had. The Everything Omelette. Biscuits are delicious. Finally got to try Bryant's Breakfast and i've gotta say its probably one of the best country style breakfast I've had in awhile. Located on the corner of N. Graham and Summer Ave nests the ever so popular breakfast/brunch/diner joint. I didn't know what to order so I got the Sampler which consisted of 3 eggs, bacon, sausage, country ham, pork tenderloin, potato pattie, biscuits, grits and gravy. Everything was delicious and I found the homemade potato patties to be the tastiest of them all. There were 3 biscuits but I could only down 2 of them yummy flakey things with the gravy. This place is super popular as I went on a Sunday morning around 11am. The lines a bit long but moves very quickly and you can seat yourself right after you order and they'll bring you your food. Very friendly staff. I enjoyed it and ill be back read more

Stopped into Bryant's for breakfast as its a one of the long time breakfast joints in the city. In New Orleans there is a place similar to this called Betsy's. Bryant's is very small with limited seating with lines out the door throughout the day. I ordered the of fashioned Memphis breakfast consisting of the country ham, eggs, biscuits, sorghum molasses and biscuits. Omg was it great. Unfortunately its cash only and when I got to the front of the line ready to pay the cashier took the money I had and told me to pay the rest next time. Thats the best part about a local place that takes care of their customers. read more

My boyfriend took me here for breakfast for my birthday and we had a really great experience. By the time we got here, there wasn't a huge line (there was a big line after we arrived), so I was happy that we didn't have to wait a lot. The ordering was fast, I like that you pay at the counter, and then you take your seat. We ordered the Nutella pancakes (omg), hashbrowns, the breakfast platter with bacon and scrambled eggs, and the omelet scramble. I'm not really a fan of bacon but it was nice and crunchy, the biscuits were good, and my eggs were...eggs. I made some mini biscuit sandwiches with what I got and it was really good but I could barely eat 2 of the 3 biscuits. The Nutella pancake was bomb, it had strawberries on top, 3 layers, and they had Nutella on each layer. Hashbrown patties were just that, but it was fried fresh and really good. My boyfriend also really enjoyed his scramble. Overall, it was a nice experience and after hearing so many things about Bryant's, I was very happy we finally got to try it out. read more

Worth. The. Wait. It took us about 35 minutes to get from the back of the line to order (got there at 9:30 on a Sunday morning) but totally worth it. Breakfast served all day. Staff was nice. I'm not a huge biscuit fan, that is, unless I'm at Bryant's. People aren't lying, y'all, Bryant's has the flakiest, fluffiest, most buttery biscuits in town. I like them with honey. If you go on a weekend, you'll most likely have to wait, unless you wake up super early and head out immediately. Bryant's always has a line. Another note, the place is cash only so stop by the ATM before settling in to eat. You can also enjoy bacon, sausage, grits, eggs, country ham and other typical southern breakfast eats here, and it's all good too. But nothing tops those biscuits! read more

i super super wanted to like this place. i rly did, especially since all my yelp friends raved about it. But it really was just okt, and it doesn't even hold a candle to bro Js. The line was insanely long, and you're standing the whole time cramped in the little space (I guess that's what makes it homely; but thats not really why I only gave it 3 stars). the people are VERY Friendly though, and I do have to say the lady who mans over the coffee station is so sweet! They have an extensive menu, so you really can't go wrong here. Since I Came with my family, we ordered a little bit of everything. Since it's been so long, I can't specifically remember the exact dishes but all I remember was that.. they weren't that memorable. Seating wise, depends on when you come. If you come on a saturday morning like we did, then you'll have to fight for seats and just kind of hunker over the area like chinese people do on a regular basis in flushing. I DO have to say though the biscuits are YUMMYLICIOUS! I did like their biscuits. but everything else was just average-a-ok. NO CARDS! CASH ONLY! NOT OPEN ON SUNDAYS CLOSES EARLY(around 1 -2 PM ish?) It's just your average normal breakfast place, to me. read more

I saw David M.'s review and realized I hadn't reviewed Bryants! EVERYONE (visitors and Memphians alike) needs to eat at Bryants. Family owned and pretty much authentic breakfast. You may see them pulling the ham slices out of a frozen box, but you won't care when you take a bite of a country ham biscuit...the biscuits are perfect and will pretty much kill you with the lard/butter or whatever fat they use to make them so heavenly. Classic country handbills on the wall along with their great Tshirts. Nicest people around too. My wife craved their biscuits when she was pregnant with our daughter. Good lunch too (white beans n cornbread yum), but I don't think they serve BBQ anymore. I might be wrong. David's right in that it's probably one of the most diverse dining crowds in Memphis. Parents on their way to drop their kids at the private schools down the street to construction workers to the regular crowd who's always harassing each other. Communal table makes it fun too. Note Cash Only. read more

Wholly crap the line at this place!! It better be good to wait like that. Take note this place is CASH ONLY!!! First off this place has it down. From ordering, to dropping off food at your table, to clearing tables to ensure everyone has a place to sit, to having all the to go stuff in an area for ease of grabbing and walking out the door. I was worried when I walked in the door, but man they are on point for making it flow like a well-oiled machine! It's a get in line, grab your coffee as you follow the line to the ordering counter, order and pay. Take your number, grab a seat where you can find one (you may have to sit at a long table with others) and start people watching until your food arrives. I ordered the Breakfast Special, with the options of a potato patty vs meat. This is a lot of food people! Two eggs, however you like them, 3 big biscuits, gravy, grits and my potato patty. I had to take the grits and two biscuits to go there was so much food. The eggs were cooked perfectly over easy, the biscuits were delicious and I loved that the country gravy wasn't loaded with sausage, so I was able to enjoy it. I did have to add butter and salt/pepper to the grits as they were pretty bland on their own. Overall the food was good. It's basic home-style goodness - nothing fancy, but its hits the basic breakfast genre on the nose. Would I eat here again sure. Would I take guests here as a 'great breakfast spot' no. It's just a A-OK kinda spot to me. We even bought a shirt which is good quality and has an awesome retro vibe design. read more

If you are looking for a classic big Southern breakfast, than Bryant's Breakfast is your place. They serve up a hardy breakfast that's quick and delicious. You can get your fix, getting a variety of meats, eggs (done to order), and of course, the biscuits. Also, try one of the cinnamon rolls. They're even better when they're heated up. Definitely worth waking up for. A couple of pieces of advice: 1.) They are cash only, so be sure to bring some. 2.) There's usually a line, which if you've ever eaten there, you understand why. Small place, weird ordering line system, small parking lot, just overall nothing special. Loves this place the people are are so friendly and kind I go on my off days Wednesday and Thursday my treat to my self

The biscuits here make the meal. Possibly the best biscuits I have ever eaten. Light and airy, but with the sound structural integrity that make them the excellent base to a breakfast sandwich, and which could easily stand up to being drenched in gravy or anything else you could heap on to it. The flavor was buttery and just slightly salty, and the crust was golden and perfect; crisp, but not dry or overcooked. A close second are the eggs. (We got scrambled, which were exceedingly fluffy and light, but peering onto other customers' plates, the over easy eggs looks perfectly cooked.). We tried the sampler, with an extra biscuit, split between two people. This seems to be popular because the cashier immediately asked us if we wanted two plates without any prompting. Like I said above, the biscuits are the stars here. We tried all the meats on the sampler. All were ok to poor. Nothing special. But with the biscuits and fluffy scrambled eggs, the average meat quality is more than made up for. Same goes for the gravy. Its probably Cisco canned industrial stuff. Same with the meats. But the other key here is value. The breakfasts here are SHOCKINGLY CHEAP. The sampler split two ways with coffees was $6.50 each, and was more than enough food for both me and my friend. And that's why Rather bland I thought. If they just cooked and crumbled in the sausage patties read more
