This is clearly a town favorite. The line was out the door the entire time we were there and no one was complaining. I think they are known for their biscuits but the star for me was the freshly mixed and grilled pancakes. They just melt in your mouth. Real eggs. Ham steaks two ways. Huge omelettes packed with whatever filling you select. You will not be let down. I was stuffed and didn't make it through half of my meal. Please be aware, this is a cash only location. My boyfriend took me here for breakfast for my birthday and we had a really great experience. By the time we got here, there wasn't a huge line (there was a big line after we arrived), so I was happy that we didn't have to wait a lot. The ordering was fast, I like that you pay at the counter, and then you take your seat. We ordered the Nutella pancakes (omg), hashbrowns, the breakfast platter with bacon and scrambled eggs, and the omelet scramble. I'm not really a fan of bacon but it was nice and crunchy, the biscuits were good, and my eggs were...eggs. I made some mini biscuit sandwiches with what I got and it was really good but I could barely eat 2 of the 3 biscuits. The Nutella pancake was bomb, it had strawberries on top, 3 layers, and they had Nutella on each layer. Hashbrown patties were just that, but it was fried fresh and really good. Stopped into Bryant's for breakfast as its a one of the long time breakfast joints in the city. In New Orleans there is a place similar to this called Betsy's. Bryant's is very small with limited seating with lines out the door throughout the day. I ordered the Breakfast Special, with the options of a potato patty vs meat. This is a lot of food people! Two eggs, however you like them, 3 big biscuits, gravy, grits and my potato patty. I had to take the grits and two biscuits to go there was so much food. The eggs were cooked perfectly over easy, the biscuits were delicious and I loved that the country gravy wasn't loaded with sausage, so I was able to enjoy it. I did have to add butter and salt/pepper to the grits as they were pretty bland on their own. Overall the food was good. It's basic home-style goodness - nothing fancy, but its hits the basic breakfast genre on the nose. Would I eat here again sure. Would I take guests here as a 'great breakfast spot' no. I think I was disappointed because I didn't have any real ties to the city of Memphis or Bryant's as a whole, and what had to be strictly an objective review based on the food lead to a bit of disappointment. Star 1: How were the service and atmosphere? One thing I did absolutely love about Bryant's Breakfast was that in many it's the product of it's community, which is a rarity these days with the ever growing grasp of various chains and fast casual spots. Bryant's Breakfast is every bit as Memphis as the city itself, and the line of locals out the door should be more than enough to tell you that. As most reviews touch on, people have grown up on Bryant's as if it were Sunday church itself, and while jam packed with sparse seating and a line that will have you waiting likely 30 or more minutes on a weekend morning, you'll enjoy the wait. Star Granted. Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost? While locals tell me that prices have gone up especially over the past year or so, my massive sample (known as "The Sampler", was $10.00, and was the most expensive thing on the menu. Five meats, three biscuits and three eggs for $10? Value if ever it existed. Star Granted. Stars 3 and 4: How was the food? Unfortunately, "you get what you pay for" came to mind a bit when I finally dug into my sampler platter. Finally got to try Bryant's Breakfast and i've gotta say its probably one of the best country style breakfast I've had in awhile. Located on the corner of N. Graham and Summer Ave nests the ever so popular breakfast/brunch/diner joint. I didn't know what to order so I got the Sampler which consisted of 3 eggs, bacon, sausage, country ham, pork tenderloin, potato pattie, biscuits, grits and gravy. Everything was delicious and I found the homemade potato patties to be the tastiest of them all. There were 3 biscuits but I could only down 2 of them yummy flakey things with the gravy. This place is super popular as I went on a Sunday morning around 11am. The lines a bit long but moves very quickly and you can seat yourself right after you order and they'll bring you your food. i super super wanted to like this place. i rly did, especially since all my yelp friends raved about it. But it really was just okt, and it doesn't even hold a candle to bro Js. The line was insanely long, and you're standing the whole time cramped in the little space (I guess that's what makes it homely; but thats not really why I only gave it 3 stars). the people are VERY Friendly though, and I do have to say the lady who mans over the coffee station is so sweet! They have an extensive menu, so you really can't go wrong here. Since I Came with my family, we ordered a little bit of everything. Since it's been so long, I can't specifically remember the exact dishes but all I remember was that.. they weren't that memorable. Seating wise, depends on when you come. If you come on a saturday morning like we did, then you'll have to fight for seats and just kind of hunker over the area like chinese people do on a regular basis in flushing. I DO have to say though the biscuits are YUMMYLICIOUS! I did like their biscuits. but everything else was just average-a-ok. NO CARDS! CASH ONLY! NOT OPEN ON SUNDAYS CLOSES EARLY(around 1 -2 PM ish?) You may see them pulling the ham slices out of a frozen box, but you won't care when you take a bite of a country ham biscuit...the biscuits are perfect and will pretty much kill you with the lard/butter or whatever fat they use to make them so heavenly. Classic country handbills on the wall along with their great Tshirts. Nicest people around too. My wife craved their biscuits when she was pregnant with our daughter. Good lunch too (white beans n cornbread yum), but I don't think they serve BBQ anymore. I might be wrong. David's right in that it's probably one of the most diverse dining crowds in Memphis.
