No longer in business. Hasn't been for awhile but while it was open it was pretty good.

It's a small place sort of looked like it could have been a fast food restaurant. There was plenty of seating. You could order from the menu or from the hot table (not sure what else to call it). There were two ladies working up front and it took a long time to order. I had the fried chicken with mashed potatoes, green beans, a cornbread muffin and a tea (half sweet/half unsweetened). My colleague had meatloaf, Mac and cheese, green beans, and a biscuit. We each ordered peach cobbler. They serve a lot of food! My colleague said she was going to take some for dinner. Well. . . she ate everything. It must have been really good. I haven't had good fried chicken in a long time and it was delicious. I ate all the green beans and the cornbread. I took the chicken to eat later. The mashed potatoes started out tasting good but then I started to notice an after taste that I didn't like. I didn't eat them. My colleague could not eat the cobbler. I'm not sure what was wrong with it but she tasted it and said she couldn't eat it. I unfortunately never got to eat mine. It sat in the fridge in the hotel and I ended up tossing it before I left. I was a little disappointed. I really was expecting some grits and maybe some greens (not green beans).

We didn't need to add anything to our food and it was perfect. Those were some of the best grits I've ever had in my LIFE. I will make a special trip out of the way for good food, and this is a spot that I'd come to every week if I lived closer. The cooks' hands are blessed, because the way I INHALED that food should be a crime in itself. The decor was cute and festive for the occasion, but all I could concentrate on was that FOOD.

The service by our friendly and funny waitress Beth was top notch. We went early , getting there 15 minutes before they opened at 11. There were already a dozen folks waiting on the porch already! They had a sign in sheet by the door so there was no rush or guessing when to go in as they called parties from the list. The dining rooms is not big and there are lots of antiques and movie posters on the walls. You really felt you were back in a restaurant decades ago. The train tracks are right beside The Whistle Stop so the name is appropriate. We started with the fried green tomatoes which were great with the somewhat spicy remoulade sauce they came with. I then had the pork chops and my wife had the chopped steak. Both were good. The veggies we saw all looked good. The Brussels sprouts were roasted with sugar I think as they were sweet. The mashed potatoes were good the turnip greens were just OK as was the cornbread. Our total bill, for two lunches and 2 teas was about $55. After lunch the small Main Street in Juliette offered several shops to browse through and shop making for a fun lunch outing.

We even found Smoky Lonesome's cabin! The food is VERY good with TONS of choices. The list of available side dishes fills a giant blackboard over the counter. Portions were generous. Side note: try the Brussels sprouts. Even if you're not usually a fan you won't be sorry. The service was fantastic. Our server (self-identified as "another Yankee") was a riot. She kept the whole family in stitches. The restaurant is pretty popular, so there is a bit of a wait, but there are several shops along the street displaying an eclectic mixture of items, including FGT souvenirs (think "Towanda!") We can't wait to visit Georgia again so that we can have another meal here.

Tonight, we enjoyed Grits Sticks that were piping hot with a delightful, pickled slaw. I ordered the amazing Shrimp and grits martini. Shrimp was seasoned and cooked to perfection along with creamy mushroom grits. OMG the bacon crumbles on top made it so-o-o good! Husband loved his crab ravioli in a light sauce. Never had a bad meal here in the years we make sure to stop. A real gem in this quant town 60 miles from Atlanta. Real southern fare with gourmet touch. Prices were more than fair compared to Florida eateries. White glove service from Sophie and upscale ambiance.

We also tried their fried Grits sticks, which were very yummy again it's one of our favorite places to travel to in Georgia, highly highly recommended.

Our waitress was lovely, I had heard about the souvenir glasses you could buy so I got a shot glass with the Damon pancake shot and the vampire Barbie drink.
