This review is based on a breakfast visit. Meh...all breakfast spots should to be scratch made-PERIOD. Some items being from food service vendors is okay, but if what arrives at the table is mostly food from a commercial distributor....you're doing it wrong. Two of us got the "Rise and Shine"...both plates came with overcooked and dried out sausage patties. The grits were lukewarm and bland. All that was in the grits was water and instant grits, not even salt or butter was tossed in. One of us ordered cheese for them, and it was just chalky shredded cheese added to the top-still cold. Biscuits were frozen sheet tray variety and were small in size. The eggs....the pre-mixed egg beater type and ended up being so overcooked they were rubbery. I would say to order a fried egg, so you end up with a "real" egg. The other person at the table got biscuits and gravy. The gravy was a little watery and was the 'just add water to the powder and stir' variety. Repeat the sausage and biscuit comments from above. The coffee.....it was hot...and it wasn't the Community coffee brand..so I will leave it at that. The vibe was chill and the foot traffic that came through all ordered breakfast sandwiches to-go, so I would imagine those might be the better choice for anyone coming in the future. All of the ladies behind the counter were very nice and personable. They all engaged in idle conversations and kept the coffee refilled as needed. So I don't have anything negative so say about them. Lunch might be a different story, but with another lunch spot right in the same area, I doubt I'll be back to give them a shot.

Not responsive service. Food wasn't good either. Was disappointed after being recommended. Tried twice. I shouldn't have.

Great burgers! Try a chili-slaw burger, you won't be disappointed but make sure you have extra napkins! Breakfast is good here too.

Great service and nice selection for breakfast. I ordered the two eggs with hash browns, grilled…read morebiscuit and a pancake. The large oj is served in a beer mug, so be prepared for a lot of juice if you order a large. The juice is not fresh squeezed but it is tolerable. My eggs were cooked just as I ordered and the pancake was perfect. The grilled biscuit and gravy were tasty. The place was full of locals old and young. With only a few choices in Thomaston for breakfast this place stands out. We were here for breakfast but they have daily lunch specials that sounds good. We will come back to try lunch. They do not accept credit or debit cards but there is an ATM at the gas station next door.

Stopped in to grab lunch after an appt. The signage out front isn't the best and you'd drive right…read moreby it if you weren't paying attention. It's a Country cooking kinda spot, nothing crazy in terms of flavors or offerings. Place is clean and tidy, servers were both very nice and each of the ladies that were in the back cooking, that came out were nice as well. Hamburger is an unseasoned little less than 1/4 pound patty that is flat top cooked. Bun was standard and they ask what toppings you want and add them for you. Onion rings are a commercial frozen food service product and are standard in flavor and unseasoned as well. Veggies were fresh and they didn't cheap her on the mayo. Country Fried steak as fried and crispy and commercial food service product as well. The brown gravy was nice and peppery which I enjoyed and seasoned properly. The fries were crispy but unseasoned, and since I don't like ketchup I was out of luck and ended up dipping them in my gravy. Texas toast was toasted nicely but the butter they used is unsalted so it was bland. The Cole slaw......was brought to the table at room temp and the room was like 74 degrees...that was a first for me. Most people want their Cole slaw chilled, even at picnics outside in the South in the dead of summer, I've eaten colder slaw. It's heavy on the Mayo which is the saving grace! I added pepper and salt and a splash of bottled lemon juice they brought with the iced tea and jazzed it up. Yeah...I said jazzed like some middle aged mom! Price point was completely reasonable and their bathroom was tidy. They did a steady walk-up and order at the window service while we were there. More people came and went from the window than the dining room. I'd probably come back and try their other items just to see, if I'm in the area and was out of new options to try. Nothing was a deal breaker in terms of repeating the experience...but nothing was all that great either.

As another fellow yelper stated, it's a greasy spoon kind of place. Everyone knows everyone and if…read moreyou're new, they all know it. My review is of breakfast. This area is a hard sell when it comes to restaurants, there are some town staples here, but they really aren't all that great. If you grew up eating it or what was being cooked at home was bad, then most of the places here wouldn't be all that bad to you...if those two aren't factors, then everything falls flat. Biscuits aren't scratch made. They aren't too bad though, little on the dry side..but edible. Plus side-They do use real eggs..so I will give them that..their competitors down the way certainly don't. The omelets are a little light on the egg, the ham inside is lunch meat ham and the veggies are small diced. The grits were well prepared in terms of done-ness but they don't season their grits either-but they do butter them after plating...so I'll give them some grace. I get there are two camps of grit people...salt and pepper vs. butter and sugar......but come on SALT makes things taste better, at the very least they should have salt and be made with some cream-IMO. Sausage is decent quality food service and the ladies on the griddle didn't overcook them. Hash browns are copy and paste the sausage. Overall this place is better than other places around here, it certainly lacks in the what it could be department. On the fence about coming back.

Only one waitress and they Don't take orders in the order of arrival. They get to you when they get to you. No rhyme or reason to getting to your table. First seated, last to have order taken as we were seated on the other side of the restaurant. It's a great hometown place and I love to support mom and pop business. After coming each month for 6 mths and nothing has improved we will be looking for somewhere else to eat. One waitress on a Saturday morning , can't keep up.

It can get a bit crowded, and that said to me that's where I needed to be. I tried a few times and couldn't get inside. But I finally got in, and I see why people like it so much. It's very family friendly, as I had my niece with me. Plus, overall, the waitress was very nice, and the service was fast. Now what a surprise, a special sausage was on the menu. It's hard to find what I call red rose sausages, and cooked with a little burnt, the way I like them. Well, they are here! Of course, I ordered the grits, and there were no lumps. Those are the best kind of grits. We ordered a breakfast sandwich. It's been a while since I had one. We shared that, and it brought back memories. We actually closed down the place. As you can see in the pictures, it got empty. But when you find a great, delicious breakfast with red rose sausages that remind you of home, you'll sit there, enjoying the food and forgetting about the time.

I like to try new restaurants so headed down to Griffin and decided to give this place a shot. It was crowded, but we were able to be seated rather quickly. Our server was attentive and very nice. She did a good job explaining the different items and any specials that they had.. we opted for cheeseburger or breakfast plate, and I swapped out the bacon for fried chicken breast. Also got the lunch plate with mac & cheese and fried okra.. the fried chicken breast was absolutely delicious and so was the okra. I wasn't a huge fan of the pancake, but I got the plain one.
