This is my go to place in Griffin to get my favorite comfort food, Lasagna! It is always good. The meat sauce is on point and I even taste the secret seasoning in the dish which brings it all together. For me, this is how we know someone is in the kitchen really cooking and not heating food in the microwave. My meal, teriyaki vegetables and salmon, was as delicious as my step mom's New York steak sandwich was tough, covered with too much cheese and gravy (a special of the day) was poor, which earned no more than a three star. If back in Griffin, we probably would not come again for another meal. The cafe was busy and loud even though 1 pm on a weekday. Service was average. We thought lunch for two ($45 no drinks and no dessert, although there were many decadent desserts available) was rather expensive. read more

When we arrived you can see that it is a local favorite. We were seated right away by a smiling face. We were satisfied with everything we ordered except the potatoes were not all the done but they made them right. October 07, 2021, The Corner Cafe To say that I am disappointed in the actions of this restaurant, wait staff and management would be a major understatement! We ordered the southwestern egg rolls, a corn beef reuben, a philly steak, fries, soft drinks, and a bacon onion ring burger (hold the bacon) My friend ordered the above bacon onion ring burger, hold the bacon. The burger was delivered with bacon. We called Daniel (our waiter) over and explained that due to his religious protocols he couldn't eat pork which is why we asked for no bacon. Daniel said he understood and would have another remade. Not more than 1-1/2 minutes passed and a burger was brought out. However, it appeared to me to be the same burger minus bacon. Why do I says this? Because the cheese was not at all in a stage of melt but cooled, the burger didn't have its shine to it like a hot burger would. We sat around and ate our other food for a bit. My friend asked if I was sure a new burger was made because it came back so quickly. I called back our waiter and asked if the bacon had simply been removed. He assured me that he fully understood what needed to be done and the reason why we requested it, and the burger had been made fresh again. A minute later my friend went to put condiments on the burger and found a bacon sliver a couple inches long still on the burger. I asked for the manager and expressed our concern the burger hadn't been remade but simply the bacon removed. He also assured me that it had been remade and that they have burgers already made on the grill and just add the toppings to them as a request is made. I interrupted him and stated, then can you explain to me why this burger has bacon on it still and why it came out not hot but looking like it had sat around like we sent it back. He couldn't, and asked if he could maje us a fresh one. The new burger, correctly made, came out with the burger literally rolling with steam off of it, the cheese still in fully liquid melted form and shiny hot. Later on the manager brought one complimentary piece of key lime pie, but we did not eat this. My disappointment is in what I feel was an intentional disregard of serving food which the wait staff and manager knew violated a religious practice and then attempting to manipulate the truth about what was done on simply removing the bacon off of it instead of truly making it fresh again. This is an absolute disgrace and a slap in the face of our sacred trust in the United States for freedom of religion and respect for those persons personal religious practices. If you can't trust someone to act honorably in such a small thing as simply making a burger again from scratch because of their mistake... We will not return to this establishment and take my business elsewhere. Our trust in their conducting themselves honorably has been broken. read more

This was a delightful discovery. There is a little bit of everything on the menu so you should be fine. Doing something to please your pallet. My friend had Patti melt and I had the chicken salad melt. Both were thoroughly enjoyable. The coleslaw is excellent and the homemade salad dressing Was better than I've had in ages. I had the blue cheese, real blue cheese dressing is not easy to come by. Daniel was our server and provided excellent service and honest feedback when asked questions about the menu. The atmosphere is comfortable, and casual. It is obvious that it is a local favorite spot. There's a sign that says the best cakes in town up on the wall behind the dessert case. Fortunately, for my waist and hips, I was too full after my chicken salad melt and salad to have any of the desserts, although it was certainly very tempting! It's probably good. I have breakfast here 3x a week. It's a 20 minute drive from where I live. The staff/ service is amazing. The food fresh fr & healthy. Normally, Corner Cafe is one the best restaurants in Griffin-Spalding County. Since I was in town to get My hair cut, I parked on Hill Street and walked past Corner Cafe and saw their posted Specials. The 'Fried Whole Catfish with Pasta' seemed like a good choice. I walked in and was seated immediately. I ordered the Catfish Special with Coleslaw and Mac & Cheese and iced tea. The restaurant is packed, and people were still coming in. Within a few minutes, My meal arrived and frankly; it looked good! Then I started with the catfish. Once I started I found very little meat. It was mostly breadcrumbs. The coleslaw was watery but okay, and the pasta was in an uninspiring tomato sauce that was dumped on the plate next to the catfish. Surely, the Mac & Cheese will rescue the ordinary fried catfish; NOPE! It was DRY! In their defense; Corner Cafe does not specialize in seafood, nor do they advertise as such. There are several seafood restaurants in Griffin-Spalding county area. Several are a better choice for seafood. However, that said; there is a saving grace that Corner Cafe has that no other restaurant in Griffin-Spalding county has: DESSERTS!!! I looked at the dessert case and chose 'German Chocolate' cake. OMG! Cha-Ching!!! Winner, winner. Made for an uninspiring dinner! read more

What can I say??? We found this gem of a place while we were driving in Griffin looking for breakfast. As we walked in, we were greeted warmly, the service was exceptional. The pictures I took do not do justice to the place. Forgot to take them before we ate. The food was delicious. If we are in the Griffin area, this would be our go to place. It was a quaint with nice atmosphere. The staff were friendly and our server was very attentive to us. They also have an array of delicious cakes in the display counter. While looking at the cakes, I found one mocha cupcake and bought that home for desert that evening. The cupcake was yummy! Definitely will be back!!! read more

I go by all the time and get a chicken salad sandwich. I am very picky with my chicken salad and this ranks in about 3 restaurants I like the chicken salad. It is the kind with grapes. They are very accommodating. The melt and the salad alone are on the menu. But I ask for chicken salad on toasted wheat with tomato and lettuce and they make it for me. I also discovered they have fresh squeezed orange juice and I was in heaven it was so good! I don't even know how much they charged me. Their desserts are like the ones at Broadway Diner. They have amazing looking cakes but I didn't try them (I'm trying to quit). I started with a cup of tomato basil soup that was barely warm but flavorful. My friend and I visited yesterday before heading to a graduation ceremony. We were able to find a parking spot close to the entrance. When we walked in, we were promptly greeted and seated at a table. The staff were friendly and very helpful with the menu. We both ordered the fried pickle bacon cheeseburger. I had sweet potato fries, and she has regular fries. They were busy but not overly crowded, so I was surprised at how quickly our order was prepared. The burger was huge, and they weren't slack on the toppings. Fried pickles had just enough breading but not overwhelming. There were enough to give us an appetizer feel along with having some on our burger too. Bacon was crisp but not burnt; it added a nice crunch to the burger. The sweet potato fries were good, but I would probably stick with regular fries or a salad next time. Their desserts looked delicious, but we were too stuffed to try one.
