Country fried steak 2 egg breakfast with a side of sausage
Samantha S.

Went here for breakfast and it didn't disappoint! There are no reservations nor is there a hostess stand, so you just show up and wait for an open table. They do get very crowded on Saturdays, so be ready to wait a bit during breakfast rush hour. There is a covered front porch area with some rocking chairs to enjoy while you wait. I tried the country fried steak - two egg breakfast (comes with hash browns or grits & toast or biscuit). I also ordered a side of sausage (MY FAVORITE PART). The food was delicious. Hash browns weren't my favorite, but still good. Will definitely be coming back & trying everything on the menu!! They also have a walk-up window where you can order to go.

Great place with the Southern charm I was looking for being from California.

I found the Southern charm I was looking for and biscuits made in-house are delicious. So glad I came for breakfast. Everyone is so sweet and Mac himself came to chat with us. Being from California, I truly appreciated the experience.

I came for breakfast. Recommend the homemade sausage. Great service in a down home atmosphere.

Chicken Salad Scoop . . .
Earl S.

I stopped into Mac's today for lunch and really enjoyed it. It's was reasonably crowded but there was ample seating space. I ordered the club sandwich with a scoop of the chicken salad. The club came with toasted bread and was stacked. It was really good. The chicken salad has more of a sweetness to it that some may like and others may not. I enjoyed it. It's similar to English Cafe in town in terms of how they make their Chicken Salad. The waitress was attentive and provide excellent service. I do hope to return one more to have breakfast their. They have a reasonable amount of breakfast offerings.

Two eggs scrambled with cheese, bacon, crispy hash browns and toast.

Food was good, I was a little disappointed that I had to go to an ATM and return with cash as they don't accept debit cards.

AVOID AVOID AVOID as if your life depended on it. I appreciate great customer service and am always…read moresure to tip very generously and review accordingly. When I search reviews on a business before going, I don't just accept them at face value, but rather, read them and determine if the reviewers are just entitled brats. lol Now that being said: here we go... ha ha This place was the worst experience I can recall with a business in nearly 50 years of life. It was very cold outside, and looking at the online pics looked like it was open-air seating only. So I called them to ensure there was also indoor seating at this cool looking bar. It was 8pm. The man reassured us there were indoor seating options. He then asked "are ya'll coming tonight?" I replied that we were. He then said "how long?" I then asked what time they closed. He replied at 10pm. A little perplexed, I let him know we were on the way. Red flag #1. I told my husband I didn't want to feel rushed out the door if they were trying to close early and didn't really get the vibe they wanted our business. He suggested we just give them a try anyway. When we pulled up, we noticed maybe 3 cars in the parking lot of this very big property. Red flag #2. As we entered the hotel, the gentleman asked us if we called about the bar. We said yes and he directed us to the entrance doors. The entrance was essentially the exit... to the outdoors. HAHA It was approx 40 degrees outside. As my husband and I looked a little perplexed, a female approached where we were standing, never even looked at us or acknowledged us in ANY way and said to the gentleman, "WHAT DO THEY WANT?" He informed her we were there for the bar. We asked where the indoor seating was. Y'ALL... this man took us back in the hotel lobby and pointed at the lobby area. You want us to eat a late dinner and have drinks at this cool looking bar, but in actuality we sit where patrons eat their continental breakfast and are served by someone who has all but said "why are you here?" What?? So... my husband and I said no thank you and went to Cowboy Town which is a very short drive away. Please go there instead. Great food and drinks with a super cool small town vibe, live music, and barrel racing most weekends. Maybe when the weather is warm and the pool is open, The View would be a cool establishment. But it needs to be seasonal only and absolutely closed the remainder of the year. Bless it. I do believe the reviews you see are mostly BS. Please pay very close attention to the details of them.

The burger was everything a burger should be. Service was friendly and timely for made it order food. They have a full menu of Chicken, burgers, shrimp, mushrooms, wings and more. We were super impressed and thankful we stopped. Open air to outside. Hours: Tues-Sat 2pm to 10pm currently.

This is more of a 4.5 review but I really wanted to try to bring up their rating since I feel like…read morethe 2.5 is really low, especially after our experience here. We came on a Monday about 8:30 and were seated promptly. We drove out of our way to come since it was my sister's birthday and she was nostalgic about Shoney's and this was the closest one (about an hour away.) Our drinks came right out and we went to the breakfast bar. I was not expecting such a huge selection of food. At least 2 kinds of biscuits, multiple different gravies, breakfast casseroles, hashbrowns, grits, fried bologna, bacon, eggs, sausage patties, sausage links, pancakes, French toast, fried apples, strawberry shortcake, dirty rice, A SALAD BAR that included a fruit selection, fried potatoes, mushrooms, Philly steak, and MORE!!!! Now let's be honest...this is a BUFFET. Some of the food was fresher than others but I saw them replace numerous items during our visit. Nothing tasted off and some food was better than others, but overall, I believe this was a excellent deal for $15/per person. Sharon was our waitress and kept our drinks topped off and plates cleared away. She was a sweetheart and we really appreciated her friendliness. You could tell that the decor, furniture, etc was older but everything was clean and seemed to be in good repair. Even the bathrooms were fresh and clean. Overall, we were very happy with our visit and plan on returning when we're in the area.

My dad couldn't pass a Shoney's back in the day, I don't know if it was the value or the quality,…read morebut I haven't been to a Shoney's in decades so I thought I'd go down memory lane when the opportunity presented itself while staying overnight at the KOA in Forsyth. This one opens before sunrise and since I wanted to get back on the road early we thought we'd give them a try, it's easy and no mess in the RV, my fingers were crossed hoping it was how I remembered. We arrived about 7 AM and there were only a few customers in the restaurant browsing the breakfast buffet that was filled to the brim - honestly I thought it was a little overkill but as time passed this place looked like Walmart on Black Friday all looking for a bargain and indulgence. The staff here was on their game the kitchen was delivering pans of everything and refreshing whatever looked like it sat a little longer than it should - Wanda our wonderful server greeted us just as we were seated and dashed to get our drink orders while we took a tour of the foods on display. I'm pretty traditional when it comes to breakfast so I was looking for a mound of bacon, scrambled eggs and anything else that looked appetizing I'd consider a bonus. Honestly for $50 including gratitude for two I was a little disappointed with the quality it was a little too intuitional for me, a little bland even with a salt and pepper shaker on the table it just wasn't working. I would of been just as happy with a couple of drive-thru breakfast sandwiches for about one third of the price. I do applaud them for having a full salad bar filled with greens and fruit, nothing bad here just not my thing...

Sometimes you just have to do a thing…read more For years my bride has been talking about making the pilgrimage to the Whistle Stop Cafe. Not months. Not weeks. Years. And after enough years pass, a man learns there are only two choices: take the trip or hear about the trip that never happened until the end of time. So we did a thing. The cafe sat there like it had been waiting on us since 1957. The kind of place that reminds you of all those little Southern towns that somehow survive despite progress doing its level best to pave over every memory worth keeping. Inside, the food was everything we'd hoped for and then some. The Bennett Bar-B-Que was worthy of its reputation, the fried green tomatoes were exactly what fried green tomatoes ought to be, and the peach cobbler should probably require a note from your doctor before ordering. The vegetables were cooked to perfection, which is something my grandmother never imagined would be written in a sentence about Southern cooking, but here we are. The wait staff were genuine, quick with a smile, and blessed with that rare Southern talent of making you feel like a regular customer even when they know full well they've never seen you before in their lives. The atmosphere smelled of coffee, history, laughter, and a thousand conversations that probably started with, "Y'all ain't gonna believe what happened..." Naturally, after lunch we had to walk around town. Partly because that's what you're supposed to do in a place like that, and partly because the peach cobbler had shifted our center of gravity. We wandered the streets, admired the old buildings, and soaked in the kind of small-town Southern charm that doesn't come from a committee meeting or a tourism brochure. It comes from years of people living their lives in the same place and caring enough not to ruin it. Sometimes life doesn't require a grand adventure. Sometimes all it takes is listening to your wife, driving down a country road, eating too much cobbler, and spending an afternoon in a town that reminds you where you came from. And that's a pretty good day.

Whistle Stop Café…read more Today we visited the iconic Whistle Stop Café in Juliette, Georgia, the town made famous by the movie Fried Green Tomatoes. The drive from Social Circle takes less than an hour, but once you arrive it feels like you've stepped into another era. Juliette is a tiny town with only a handful of buildings, many of them antique stores, gift shops, and historic structures. The railroad still runs directly through town, and trains remain very much a part of daily life. The café opens at 11:00 a.m., and it was immediately obvious that this is a popular destination. We signed the waiting list at 11:47 a.m. and were seated around 1:30 p.m. Even more impressive, when we left around 3:00 p.m., there were still approximately a dozen groups waiting for tables. Considering the restaurant is only open Thursday through Sunday from 11:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m., that says a lot about its popularity. Fortunately, waiting in Juliette is part of the experience. During the wait, we explored the town, visited the shops, and watched four trains roll through on the tracks beside the restaurant. Around here, wait times can almost be measured in trains instead of minutes. Juliette itself is worth exploring. The old mill building still stands beside the railroad tracks and serves as a reminder of the town's history. There are antique stores, souvenir shops, movie memorabilia, the Juliette Opry stage, a small courthouse building, and even a decorative outhouse humorously labeled "Juliette Police Department." One old pickup truck parked in town featured a skeleton behind the wheel, creating one of the more memorable photo opportunities of the day. Inside, the Whistle Stop Café feels exactly like the kind of place you hope to find in a town like this. Historic photographs, vintage signs, railroad memorabilia, and Fried Green Tomatoes movie memorabilia cover the walls. Nothing feels manufactured or staged. It feels authentic, comfortable, and connected to the history of both the town and the film. Our server, Chris, was friendly, attentive, and welcoming despite the busy dining room. One of the more interesting details involved the booth where we were seated. According to the story shared at the restaurant, the booth is associated with one of the memorable scenes from Fried Green Tomatoes, including the famous barbecue discussion and the line, "That's the best barbecue I ever had." For lunch, I ordered the blackened catfish special. Alongside it were collard greens, cornbread, and one of the most unusual side dishes I've encountered in quite some time: Brussels sprouts prepared with cinnamon and brown sugar. It may sound unusual, but the sweet and savory combination worked surprisingly well and made the Brussels sprouts one of the most memorable parts of the meal. The homemade lemonade fit perfectly with the Southern atmosphere of the restaurant. The café had temporarily run out and was making a fresh batch while we were there. We also learned that the popular seven-layer lemon cake had already sold out for the day, which wasn't surprising considering the crowds. What makes Whistle Stop Café special is that the experience extends far beyond the food. The active railroad, the historic buildings, the movie connections, the quirky attractions, and the welcoming atmosphere all combine to create something unique. This is not simply a restaurant. It is a destination. Between the trains, the historic town, the movie memorabilia, the old mill, the skeleton in the truck, the packed dining room, and the Southern atmosphere, we ended up spending much of the afternoon exploring Juliette rather than simply stopping for lunch. The food was good, the service was friendly, and the setting was unlike anywhere else we've visited. Sometimes a restaurant review is mostly about the meal. In this case, it was just as much about the experience. And if you're wondering about the wait time, the answer is simple: Four trains. Whistle Stop Café 443 McCrackin Street Juliette, GA 31046
