Exceeded expectations! Can't wait to go back! Food was great and service was exceptional.

I never would have gone here if a friend hadn't recommended and wanted to meet for lunch. It's certainly no elegant restaurant BUT the service was perfect and food outstanding. I had a ribeye steak with some incredible fries and perfectly seasoned green beans. The steak lasted me for 3 meals, it was so large. It would be perfect if they had a beer and wine license but what the heck. I'll definitely go back. Loved the food and I'm REALLY picky about my steaks and how they're cooked! read more

I wasn't expecting to find the gem of a restaurant that we uncovered in a town with the name of Gay, Georgia. I have lived in Georgia my entire life, and I am 60 years old, and they have never heard of this little place. It seemed like a wonderful little town, but the last thing you would expect in such a small town is a nice steakhouse. I enjoyed my food immensely, and they have these corn nits as an appetizer that are absolutely fantastic. That was worth the price of admission to me. My daughter ordered catfish fillets and they were wonderful and her favorite thing on her plate was actually the coleslaw. The only reason why I'm giving this four stars instead of five is because my steak came out overcooked. But the true test of a good restaurant is how they handle things when they don't go perfectly in our waitress and the kitchen staff responded with a new stake and allowed me to keep the other one to Gray on while I was waiting for the replacement that's handling things with grace and integrity. Very casual vibe. Basic furniture and decor. Nothing fancy. Fine with me! Service was polite and attentive. No long waits on a Thursday evening but I hear weekends are more busy. But my ribeye was very disappointing. It was a generous portion and cooked to order (medium rare). But the problem was it had so much fat it was not good. I fell for the "melts in your mouth" description in the menu. I gave up about halfway through because I was tired of trying to find bites without so much fat and gristle. (I did get the rest to go and will try again at home). I know ribeye has fat. But this was excessive. My wife's fillet was good. Sides and peach cobbler were great! The bill plus tip for us was about $100. We did not have alcohol but beer and wine are available. I will try the restaurant again but I will not order ribeye. read more

Horrible! We were not even acknowledged when we walked in for over 10 minutes. Staff continued to walk by and never said a word. We finally asked a waitress how we put our name down to get a table because there was no hostess in sight. The waitress wrote our name on a dry erase board and said she would ask someone in the back how long the wait would be. She came back and said it would be 30 minutes. Several tables were open, and as we sat there waiting, at least three tables left. We won't be back. read more

I ordered the Silo Burger. That burger was so delicious! It had lettuce, tomato, onion and a choice of cheese. I also ordered a house salad which was fresh lettuce, not the bagged stuff. Tomato, cucumber and shredded cheese came in the salad. The place was pretty busy, we got seated within 5 minutes. The service was awesome and very knowledgeable about answering questions I had about the food. I'm very impressed with this restaurant and will be back. Next time, I'm going to order the Filet. Food was very tasty. All the dishes at our table had great flavor. Service was great! There was a wait- Saturday night before Father's day. We sat outside despite the heat- there are fans on patio so it wasn't terrible. Server never disappeared. She continued to check on us. Corn niblets were unique and really good. A nice chipotle sauce drizzled on top. Fried okra was crispy and tasty. We had fried catfish, fried shrimp, filet mignon, and prime rib. Hubby had the prime rib. He said it was good but next time he would get the fillet my daughter had the fillet. She said it was delicious. Son-in-law had the fried shrimp- I had one. It was nice and crispy and well seasoned and not rubbery. I had the fried catfish that was delicious and two large fillets. Ended up having some for lunch the next day. read more

Just WOW! Who would of thought a little town on the map called Gay would have an incredible steak restaurant. About 20 minutes from Warm Springs. The steaks were as close to perfect one could get. The appetizers were phenomenal. Laughed when the hostess asked if we had reservations. Well before we left people were waiting outside. Cute cozy and service was excellent. Wow, nothing like I expected. A small no frills steakhouse in the middle of the country in Gay GA. limited menu, steaks were either a Ribeye or Filet. Both were huge and cooked to perfection. You could definitely taste the quality for a good value. They had shrimp and chicken dish along with a few other entrees, but not an enormous selection. Service was excellent as well. We had the onion rings which were hand breaded and not your normal frozen cheap ones. They were great!! The place is small, probably about 13 tables or so, so get there early and be prepared for a little wait, but it will be well worth it. Truly a diamond in the rough. These folks check all the boxes. First visit to this quaint rural resturant. Our server was Caroline & she took good care of us. Our delicious sweet tea came in a Ball canning jar and not just a pint but a widemouth quart. I did not need a refill. I got the BBQ chicken grilled cheese sandwich & sweet potato fries. My sandwich was fabulous. I was forewarnedby my companions to go ahead & eat with fork & knife. Too messy to pick up. It had some pepper jelly on it that was a nice compliment to the cheese & BBQ sauce. The pepper jelly was not mentioned on the menu & they probably should add it. My companions got Catfish strips, coleslaw, hand cut fries & tartar sauce with an additional side of Texas toast & cocktail sauce. Also the Silo burger with lettuce & tomato pickle and onions & hand cut fries. They were both delicious. The ladies room was clean. Loved the signs on the bathroom doors- Hens & Roosters. Would love to come back here & have the same meal again, but I saw several other items on the menu that I would also love to try. read more

After reading an article about the best steakhouses a group of 9 of us had dinner at The Silo Steakhouse in Gay, GA., ranked #6 in the state of Georgia, The Silo is an unassuming building located on a country road (SR-85). Only open from Wednesday to Saturday, The Silo servers both lunch and dinners. Because it is not a large restaurant I would encourage people planning to dine to make reservations. Our group arrived at 5:30 and were promptly seated. We were one of only 4 - 5 tables seated but by 6:30 the place was packed. The dinner menu is simple, offering 2 steaks, a ribeye and a filet, chopped steak, hamburger, chicken and catfish filets plus a few other options all served along with 2 sides. The majority of our group went with either the ribeye or the filet. The ribeye is huge, 12 - 14 oz. and the filet was a beautiful 8 oz. cut of prime beef. I ordered my filet Pittsburg medium rare, sometimes known as black and blue. Everyone's steak was cooked and seasoned perfectly with each slice being tender and juicy. Caesar salad and chopped salad are among the 10 sides offered. My wife and I both ordered the Caesar salad which was fresh and crisp with freshly grated parmesan cheese, croutons and a tasty dressing. Desert did not disappoint, we ordered the raspberry cobbler with vanilla ice cream and it was perfect! The ribeye was priced at $35 while the filet was $36 and well worth the price. Amanda was our server and she was attentive, checking with us throughout our meal to see if we needed anything and confirming whether our meals were to our liking.
