We were spending the night in Hogansville and as I was looking through the binder in the hotel room I noticed that they served steaks on a lava stone. I absolutely love this presentation and it had been over a decade since I've dined of such a restaurant. It was a 2-minute walk, so my wife and I made reservations and went there for dinner. We were seated immediately at a table which had a reserved sign on it. Service was good and we felt like we were taking good care of by our server as well as someone who appeared to be the manager. The filet mignon was absolutely awesome. It was prepared perfect for the lava stone presentation. A good sear on the outside and blue on the inside. Based on a couple of reviews I saw mentioning undercooked meat, it appears that people don't understand this type of dining. You are supposed to cook each individual slice of steak by putting it down on the hot lava stone, which comes out at 404 degrees C (hence the name). The steak includes three sauces, a garlic rosemary butter, a chimichurri, and the house sauce. All three were excellent, but my preferred method is to use some of the garlic butter to cook each piece of steak in and then dip in the chimichurri. My wife had the chicken penne pasta and she thoroughly enjoyed it. She also really enjoyed her Crossings wine as well. Based on Atlanta prices, I really can't complain much about their price point. For such a presentation I thought the steak price was quite reasonable as it comes with a side and salad. A piece of bread would have been nice, but not a deal-breaker. Our total bill before tax was $87, including two glasses of wine for my wife. Contrary to what I've seen on another review, there is plenty of parking within a 5-minute walk from the restaurant. We will be staying in Hogansville again this September and 404 C is definitely worth a repeat visit. read more

We made a reservation for 7:00pm on Valentine's Day. We were not told in advance that they were only offering a Valentine menu. This was $90 per person. We stayed because we had planned on a special night out. It is currently 9:00pm and we do not have our food. We decided to leave and asked for a manager. We were told the manager is in the back and not available. We went to the hostess area and asked for a bill to pay for our salads. After waiting, we were told our food is in the window and we must take it to go. They boxed our food up without the included dessert and we left. It was the worst experience for $235. read more

We went for lunch today and had an absolutely amazing meal. Christian was our server and was a real delight. We ordered a plate of the fried green tomatoes to start, and then each of us ordered a burger. The burger was seriously one of the best I have had in my life. The flavor and the cook on the burger were perfect. The fried green tomatoes were also on point. Worth noting is that they also had a couple options for children that were not on the menu. I really hate to write bad reviews, I do. It's not why I have yelp. However, in some cases, I feel like you should warn people about an establishment. This is one of those times. I wanna start off with none of this is on the server or bartender. They were super nice and helpful. This is 10000% the chefs and the owners. I ordered a sparkling wine (which isn't the bartender fault....but I do want to point out whoever chose this, chose an awfully sweet brut that more closely resembles cider beer... so if you like that, cool, I didn't, so I got a rose....all good there). We started with crab cakes. They're actually really good, just small for 19$. I work in San Diego, CA, and that is more like a big city price rather than hogansville, Georgia. They just aren't that good to justify 19$. It's mainly breading. It's still good, just overpriced. I ordered lobster ravioli, and my mom ordered lamb lollipops. I also got a side ceaser salad. I was informed the salad was bad and couldn't be served, so I never got it. My lobster ravioli was good, I'd suggest that. Moving on to what's ridiculous..... my mom's lamb was medium well to well done. We were asked how she wanted it cooked.... you don't typically ask that of lamb, but she did say medium rare like it's supposed to be. She said, the chef will know what I mean. This is still assuming the chef was good. So they come out over cooked, tough, and the waitress sees it and says yeah, that's not medium rare. So she takes it back. So it's quiet in there, and since we sat down, we could hear everything going on in the kitchen. We can hear every word from everyone who works there. Anyway, we hear the chef basically telling us off. "Well, they asked for med rare, this is medium rare! "That's med rare all day long!" He yelled. It goes on and on. So embarrassed ... I go to the front and ask for a manager. There isn't one there. It's just these young servers and the worst chefs ever. So I told her what's going on, she says she'll contact her manager. The server comes back, we're we just want to leave, but she informs us the lamb is done (the one they refired for us), so we accept....... It comes back.... RARE. yall, look at these pictures. It's insane. So at this point, we're super annoyed and don't say anything when they ask how it was. I want to add, 3 times after they refired , someone came out to ask my mom how she wanted it cooked, we had said med rare from the beginning. They asked how she wanted it done "in the middle "...... we said.... again, medium rare. Clearly the chef doesn't know how to cook lamb and I feel like their messing with us now. Like, oh, it was overdone? Well, here's raw meat. Were just like, whatever, we'll take it home and fix it. We just want to leave and assume they're taking care of the lamb, as any manager should. We get the bill, and it's on the bill. I go back to said girl, and she contacts her manager again (by phone because no one is there). They come back to the table and tell us, basically the owner/manager said, it's our fault. That since we had it refired, we have to pay for it because of their food costs. What?! And since we're taking it home and all we have to pay.... honestly, we wouldn't have taken it if we had known. They asked why we didn't say anything about it being rare.... but those chefs would 100% have messed with the food. We told them we were afraid of that. Sending something back a 3rd time isn't what anyone wants, we were tired of it by then.. I've been in hospitality for 25 years and have seen what chefs can do after sending stuff back, AND We were told they don't like criticism. So, we were good. Esp after hearing them yelling about us before, we weren't going to take that chance. I told them to please tell the owners, we won't be back. We wouldn't have come back regardless, but they could have tried to make it up to us. Instead, we paid 120$ for a crappy meal and a bad experience. This is a small town, it won't take long for word to get around, and this place will end up closing due to bad management/ownership and terrible Cooks. Too bad because it's pretty and they have a nice foh staff. Bottom line, someone should have apologized for what happened. The chefs talking badly about us so loudly... the owners should have offered an apology. The servers were embarrassed and said they were sorry, though the owners placed blame on us. Even if they didn't take any thing off our bill, an apology would have been nice. Literally anything besides saying we "need to pay for thier food cost". If you go, I'd say grab a drink and stick to the pasta. Don't get any meat because they can't cook it. I hate to say it, but I wouldn't recommend this to anyone because I can't support people who treat their customers that way. I give this place maybe 6 months unfortunately read more

We have been going past this restaurant often and finally decided to give it a try. The decor was nice but it all stops there. First we were given lunch menus(it was lunch time) at the hostess stand to take a look at while waiting on a table, then unknown to us were given dinner menus to choose from once we were seated. We chose two of their specialty drinks figuring they would be good, not the case, I ordered a vanilla old fashion and for $32.00 not even close. I didn't ask the cost as I don't typically but far over priced. We sat for 15-20 minutes having our drinks only to be told we ordered off the dinner menu and that they were hand cutting the steak frities we ordered so it would be a few more minutes. Ok, good service recovery right, no, 15 more minutes we received our meal and the steak was grizzly and not good at all. When we received the bill I was shocked at the price and we do travel the country and eat out often so accustom to pricing structure regionally. This is where we discovered the old fashion was $32 which I had 2 and two martinis were $28. The total bill $154. When asked to speak with the manager they didn't come out and had the bar tender address our concerns. I will give credit to this bartender who explained why the bill was what it was and that they just implemented a new system. The math still didn't work as she explained it but I let it go. I do work in and around the food business and understand pricing and service but new system or not and quality was lacking and pricing is out of line especially in hogansville. The bartender also said she would credit us x amount and unfortunately that still hasn't happened. So far these reasons, we will not be going back and do not recommend. read more

I really wanted to like this place! Nice ambiance, great in theory, really nice food presentation, but after that the positive points end. We got 2 steaks, a filet and a strip. The strip tasted freezer burnt and the filet was only okay, had a good bit of gristle. Brussels sprouts were good and fries were good. We got the lava table side cooking experience, but there was no guidance as to how to cook your steak. Just good luck basically. They bring it to the table on a hot rock for you to finish cooking yourself. Again, the filet was meditate best, and the strip was actually pretty awful! Couldn't decide if it tasted spoiled or freezer burnt, either way, it was $50 and tasted terrible!! Also, the bill was ridiculous!! Apparently they charge for EVERYTHING, including a tiny sauce cup of ketchup! We were charged (weren't told there was an up charge for anything) for Caesar salad with our meal instead of house, charged for a side of dressing each, and charged for ketchup!! First time visiting this establishment ever. Service is exceptional and have no complaints with our waiter. Despite just opening, our dining experience was smooth with minimal wait time. Everyone was friendly and made sure to check if anyone at the table needed anything on multiple occasions. My biggest issue is with the quality of food. We chose to partake in the lava rock experience which was fascinating but also potentially very dangerous. Prior to our dinner I thought that a designated cook would finish cooking the meat tableside and then serve; however, they serve you a tray with the lava rock and you are in charge of finishing the meat's cooking. With a big tray at the table, it's hard to maneuver around and ultimately would make more sense for staff to provide a tableside presentation and then plate your food, leaving the table clear and much easier to enjoy your food. We ordered the ahi tuna steak and two ribeyes which are served with a side salad and fries. The steak and tuna lacked flavor and were clearly low grade selection. The fries were fine. The salad was one of the saddest portions I have ever seen at a restaurant especially when you are charged a decent fee for your meal. The Gouda Mac and cheese was okay, again not much flavor. The restaurant itself is beautiful, clean and I love the decor! The atmosphere is great but the food does not match the quality of the ambience. We have been to a lot of fine dining across the United States. I'm willing to give the good, the bad, and the ugly. I CANNOT give any ugly. This is their grand opening, and first night. We know this is the time that kinks get worked out and you might have a learning curve. Everything was perfect. The food was AMAZING. THIS IS fine dining, and I hope folks will support this. Worth every PENNY! We sat in the dining cart, under a speaker and it wasn't too loud. Katt was our server and she was perfect; she came by the perfect amount of time. Ashley was in the bar and she recommended the perfect wine. Jennifer, the owner, was out and about checking on everyone. This steak was absolutely amazing and the sauces are a fresh rosemary butter compote, steak sauce and chimichurri sauce; all three were wonderful compliments to the steak. We went to the Hummingbird festival today thought we would support a local restaurants for lunch....this turned out to be a HORRIBLE mistake. The hostess ask for our phone number and name which was odd since we were getting seated immediately. At 5pm we got a message our table was ready. ( were already home). The service was extremely slow and disorganized. Our waitress only talked with us twice. I went personally to get our drink order from the bar because the wait was so long. The food took over 1.5 hours for a hamburger and steak. The steak was very thin and fatty. I wanted med rare but it was delivered well done. The ff were cold. Very disappointing. When the bill arrived for $150 we were shocked....the drinks were 32.00 each! With the hello no wander why no prices were on the drink menu. We went to this facility for Dinner. A few things to take note of: this is a very pricey restaurant. It tries to be a Ruth Chris Steakhouse with the Ala Carte pricing. I asked about a Veterans discount and they did not have this. The atmosphere was very inviting and the food was delicious. Don't know how long it will be open for (considering it's Hogansville and businesses don't stay open for long in this town). Overall a good experience. read more

Let me start out with the good. The house staff is very nice and the ambience is great. Okay now for the not so good. The house staff needs to be more professionally dressed for fine dining. Drinks were delicious but not consistent ex: The cleopatra ordered 2 a very light pretty pink then when my other guest arrived she tried mine and ordered one it came out bright red???. Ordered the lamb shank it was tasty but not hot just warm and the gouda grits were very tasteless and room temperature Brussel sprouts were not cooked all the way. The French fries were good but should have been served in a cone or some other dish instead of a small square dish and the portion size should of been larger. There was an $11 charge added to each one of our checks because we used are cc really??? Ridiculous!!! To be fine dining and your salt and pepper shakers are plastic ones from the dollar general. Maybe just maybe it would be worth half of what we paid for the meals....3 people $343. Are Total table was $700. Had to ask multiple times for are cocktails and beer. The steak flight was not available that my husband was looking forward to trying.
