When I first talked with Kelley Matthews in 2023 I noticed she was very friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. It was a pleasant experience setting up my unit and I am satisfied with the price. A few days ago, I received a detailed email from Robert that there had been a water leak in the hallway by my unit and that I would need to come down and open it to check it out, in case of potential damage. I also needed to come to the office anyway to update some contact information. I had not talked to Robert prior to meeting him this morning but he was also very professional, courteous, informed, friendly, and attentive. I was able to get my information updated quickly and we went to check out the potential issue. Though there was no damage to my things, we did discover some pooling of water in the ceiling inside the unit. Robert suggested we relocate my unit so that my items were not damaged in case of a leak. I agreed, so he managed to find an empty unit only two over from my previous unit! We quickly finalized the paperwork and I moved the items over without any hassle. The entire process was smooth and I was in and out in an hour and a half. Even though it was unexpected, the whole situation was handled very well and I am happy. My items are in good shape and I feel secure storing my valuables at Self Storage Plus La Plata because I know they are on top of things there. Thank you all!

This storage facility put my…read morebelongings up for auction for ONE late payment and in less than 24 hours from the date the monthly payment was due (9/29). I when confirmed the payment amount on 9/29 and didn't believe it was correct. I was told one amount by the on-site employee and that the rent was due on the 29th and She never stated it would go into auction status in ONE DAY! She also said someone a person would contact me, I got a robo-call. And Today the wife of Satan contacted me to tell me that my payment was 3 days late and TODAY IS 9/30 ONE DAY AFTER! And they tacked on an additional $130 auction claimed they contacted me when they did not, as I contacted the physical storage location less than 24 hours ago, the on-site person stated She would have the Coporate office contact me and instead I got a robot call... then called today after business hours [5:27PM] I finally get a call, Lied to, price gouged upcharged and from the arrogant Wife of Satan who basically told me they sent me a certified letter, how? When I just called yesterday! They have No record of my call or payment... Again How? When I needed to speak with a REAL HUMAN BEING WHO COULD MAKE REAL ADJUSTMENTS AND DECISION. She was shocked I spoke to an actual person then told my online payment was deactivated so I have to physically go to storage unit and pay without even understanding I do not drive and I'm handicapped. Wow! We never got to this part because She was too busy telling me that the employee on-site DID NOT have to tell me THAT in less than 24 hours, that today my unit would be charged and go into auction status, because This Corporate Demon also wouldn't take my payment over the phone. How convenient even though, they screwed up my billing payment and disabled my accounts online payment feature. I will be reporting them to the BBB and a few other places. I wouldn't recommend them to Satan Himself because He already works there, thus Who I spoke with!

1-Star Review: DO…read moreNOT USE THIS STORAGE FACILITY. If I could give zero stars, I would. I had a unit here (L511), and despite clearing it out on time on April 27th, this company continues to charge me for a space that is EMPTY. I even told them to check their own surveillance cameras between 10:30 AM and 1:00 PM that day -- you'll clearly see me pulling up, loading my things, and leaving. But instead of doing their due diligence, they've chosen to ignore facts and try to squeeze extra money from me. The worst part? An employee named Maurice blatantly lied about the status of my unit. He falsely claimed items were still there and tried to use a photo of items I had already tossed in the dumpster as "evidence." Completely dishonest and unacceptable. I've contacted them multiple times and explained everything, and still -- nothing. Just more charges for a unit I clearly vacated. I will be reporting them to the Better Business Bureau and warning everyone I know to avoid this location. Save yourself the stress and go somewhere that respects their customers and tells the truth.

My drop of one star comes from the estimate. I have never once in my life received an accurate moving quote, so I should've known better- but I over estimated how many boxes I had and I truthfully didn't have a ton of furniture, so I really thought (as did the person providing my quote) we could do it in 4 hours with 2 guys. Not a chance. and this was INCLUDED with me helping a ton. I pushed carts, I carried shit... I was actively working alongside them. It ended up being fine, but I really think I would give 5 stars on demand to any company that could actually provide an accurate quote. It's never once happened and I've moved a LOT. I also think the company needs to better be able to advise when the crew is coming- especially when you're the first move of the day (I asked). However, the two guys worked their butts off. They very neatly stacked and organized my stuff in the unit. They were "yes ma'am" and all and really just nice, hardworking men. I appreciated that after some real disasters in the past with 2 Men and a Truck (never again) and Metro Delivery Group (also never again) and JK movers (unless you want to pay triple for no apparent reason!). All in all, it was a very decent experience, when moving sucks anyway. I will 100% use them again- and just ask for a more realistic quote.

ONE STAR: Moving Nightmare - Missed Deadlines and Broken Promises…read more I wish I could leave zero stars. This was not a moving service; it was a grossly unprofessional, overpriced disaster that showed a complete lack of planning and disrespect for the client's living situation. This company completely failed to deliver on their advertised promises to make the move "smooth and stress-free" with "transparent pricing." First, the simple things: My appointment on November 5th was scheduled for 9:00 AM, but the crew didn't bother showing up until 10:30 AM. For a company that claims 14 years in business as a local establishment, they clearly should know local traffic patterns and how to manage a schedule. To compound the terrible start, I had reserved the loading dock and elevator specifically for their arrival. Over the course of the hour and a half they were late, I had to repeatedly ask at least three different trucks to move from the dock area. This logistical incompetence, right upon arrival, caused significant, unnecessary stress before the move even began. This initial lateness was critical because it spiraled into a catastrophic failure regarding my condo building's rules. Sales person Dustin was explicitly told about the 3:00 PM elevator reservation limit, a time he even wrote down. Despite Great Job Moving's claim that they are "prepared for every situation" and "reserve elevators," they didn't finish until well after 5:00 PM, jeopardizing my relationship with building management and adding immense stress. Pricing and Deception (A Clear Bait-and-Switch): The quote from Dustin was $1,100 - $1,300. This estimate was given after detailing the complexity of the job, including an essential stop at a storage unit and removing items from the garage. Despite these factors being known upfront, the final base bill was over $1,600--a difference of over $300 from the high end of the estimate. I was completely misled regarding the true cost of the move, directly contradicting their promise of "free, upfront estimates and transparent pricing." Quality Failures: The moving crew themselves were hardworking and professional, which is the only reason this rating isn't zero stars. However, their physical efforts were completely undermined by the company's disastrous scheduling and logistics: They failed to put boxes in the right rooms, forcing me to haul misplaced heavy items myself. Their extreme tardiness and eventual failure to finish on time caused massive downstream disruption. I had hired people to help me unpack and take care of other things at the condo, and the crew's delays resulted in a lot more delay and cost on my end for that assistance. A Note on the Tip: I felt terrible only being able to leave a $100 tip (bringing the total paid to over $1,700) because the base bill was already hundreds of dollars over the estimate. The company's deceptive pricing directly impacted the crew's earnings, which is unacceptable and unethical. Paying over $1,700 for this level of incompetence and deception is a complete rip-off. They failed on time, cost, and basic logistical planning. They are Great Job Moving and Storage in name only. Do not hire their management team

They confirmed the night before, that morning, at 2 pm, at 3 pm, at 3:30 pm and at 3:48 pm they said they weren't coming. This was already after canceling the first day and moving the pick-up out 3 days. Needless to say I was in a sweat. The unit had to be empty the day ReSupply bagged on me. I got a 1 day extension from the storage facility to avoid paying for another full month. So - back to Brian at Suburban Solutions. He answered his personal phone at 7:45pm and was personable and promised they would help. Today (31 Aug 2023) at 1:30 pm, he and 3 fellows showed up as promised at the storage facility and took away some heavy furniture and drove it off to be donated. Above and beyond what I wished for... I am very happy. A+ Brian!

AVOID! DRIVER FELL ASLEEP AT THE WHEEL, $48K OF PROPERTY DAMAGED, REPEATEDLY LIED TO BY OWNER…read more This was our 3rd move with Suburban Solutions. I now wish that number was 0. Here's why: - They got into a major accident destroying much of our stuff - They lied about it straight to our faces in an attempt to cover it up - They told us they would cover the repair costs but then backed out for most costs Suburban Solutions is the worst and most dishonest company I've ever done business with. See excruciating details and cringe-worthy photos below, then decide whether this is the company you want to entrust with the contents of your home. First, the Suburban Solutions driver got into a major accident causing major damage. Brian, the OWNER of Suburban Solutions, called to say the damage was limited to front corner of the truck, and that he would take care of repairing the broken furniture. He said the driver was run off the road by another vehicle. Then he provided misinformation about the date and location making it harder to track down the police report (which told the truth of what actually happened - yeah, keep reading!). When our property arrived, the damage was much more severe. Several furniture pieces were broken beyond repair and almost all were battered. Most of our smaller items had been repacked into new boxes - along with dirt and weeds from the side of the road. Once he realized the extent of the damage, Brian reneged, saying he would only cover repairs for some (cheaper) items. He found vendors he said were rated 4.9, but they were 4.1. One vendor we called said they FIRED HIM as a client because they refused to do business the way he was trying to get them to. He told us the items would be fully repaired, but behind our back he told those vendors to only fix things minimally and ignore any dents, scratches, etc. We were without a sofa for weeks while he said repairs were in progress. We later learned he had refused to authorize the repairs so instead the sofa just sat there untouched. Our items were in pristine condition at the time of the move and Brian personally commented on how beautifully maintained everything was during the walkthrough. Thankfully, our renter's insurance applied, but when our claims adjustor spoke to him, he lied yet again, telling them that the pieces were in bad shape initially, hoping to deflect responsibility. Hold on, it gets better! A week after the move, the driver texted us to inform us that Brian had actually been LYING the whole time and had required him to play along! The driver had fallen asleep at the wheel while going 70mph. The truck overturned and the top of the truck broke off completely. Our stuff was smashed and dumped all over the side of the road. We were finally able to obtain the police report which confirmed the driver's version of the facts. This happened in the middle of the afternoon on day 2 of the journey after the driver picked up his cousin using the moving truck on day 1. Why was his cousin with him at all? And what were they doing the night before that caused him to doze off at 4pm? Regardless, according to the driver, he had called Brian an hour before the accident to tell him he was falling asleep, but Brian told him to keep going anyway. Brian has since fired the driver and reported to FMCSA that the driver has a "medical condition" that should prohibit him driving in the future. This was never disclosed to us, and if Brian knew about it, then why was he on the road in the first place? Or was this just another tactic for him to deflect blame away from himself? Look, accidents happen 1 in 10,000 times and we drew the short straw. It sucks. It's a low risk for you. But the outrageous lies that followed (and perhaps even led to the accident) were intentional, unprofessional, and fraudulent. Suburban Solutions lied then doubled down to save face after throwing our stuff - and our lives - into complete chaos for the next 6 weeks. They treated their previously loyal customers like total chumps. Hopefully this review and our formal complaint to BBB proves how badly their attempted cover-up backfired. In case Brian tries to reply to this and explain things off with more lies or sugarcoating, I've included photos of the state of our items, written exchanges with him (contact info redacted, of course), text exchanges with the driver (same), and the police report itself. Take a look for yourself. Then ask yourself: Are you willing to risk that this same thing happens to you? Are you willing to do business with a company whose owner will lie directly to your face after wrecking your life? You and your belongings deserve better. And Suburban Solutions deserves to be out of business.

As someone who takes faith seriously, I find that deeply offensive given how this company actually conducts business. There is absolutely nothing about my experience that reflects honesty, integrity, or accountability--values that are foundational to Christianity. Using faith as a marketing tool while operating like this is misleading at best. After my move, multiple items were lost and damaged. I went through their claims process in good faith and ultimately signed a settlement agreement for $1,549. The company confirmed in writing that payment would be processed within 3-4 weeks. It has now been over nine weeks, and I have received no payment and no meaningful communication. At this point, I've had to escalate the situation beyond the company itself. I am in active discussions with the Fort Belvoir transportation office, and this company's handling of claims and failure to pay is being reviewed in the context of their eligibility to continue handling military PCS moves. Service members and their families deserve far better than this. Let me be clear: this is no longer about the money. It is about principle. A company that signs a settlement agreement and then ignores it is not operating in good faith. If this is not resolved immediately, I will be pursuing legal action for breach of contract. If you are considering using this company--especially for a military move--I strongly encourage you to look elsewhere. There are plenty of companies that will treat you with honesty and respect. This is not one of them.
