Here unfortunately looks to be pre made by some factory somewhere and not freshly made? From picture, you can see the skin stick to the tin container and thus the soup has all leaked out. The beef with flat noodles was also a bit disappointing in that the beef has no texture as in they used too much baking soda in overly tenderizing the meat. The noodles also seemed thinner than the ones I'm more used to back home in Texas. Overall, it was just an ok place, which was a disappointment since I drove my mom from ft collins just to have some dim sum with here for the weekend I'm here visiting.

The restaurant is pretty large, exceptionally clean and quiet enough to have a conversation. We loved our entire experience and cannot wait to come back, so we've already planned our next visit! There are many more dishes on our list to try.

The staff was super friendly, knowledgeable, and helped answer a few questions we had about different dishes. We had about a 20 minute wait for our table, so we grabbed a couple cocktails at the bar first. I had the Harmony in Beijing and my girlfriend had the Oolong Old Fashion. Both were really refreshing and a great way to start dinner. One thing we really liked was the ordering style. Once you're seated, you just keep picking out small plates you want to try, just like a lot of dumpling shops in China and Japan. It honestly brought back memories from my trips over there. The atmosphere and decor was beautiful and felt authentic without trying too hard. Our favorites were the Spicy Cucumber Salad, Spicy Green Beans, Beef & Vermicelli Dumplings, Hot Sea Pork and Shrimp Dumplings, Pork & Chive Dumplings, and the Crab Rangoons. Everything was fresh and came out pretty quick. We also ordered the Chicken Lo Mein, but I only had one bite because we bought it to give to a homeless woman we met at the park near where we were staying. The biggest downside is the price. It's very, very expensive for what you get. Dumplings that were basically the same size and quality as ones I ate all over Japan for $4-$7 were over $14 here. A pretty small plate of stir fried green beans being around $20 was kinda hard to justify. The only dishes we really didn't care for were the Chinese Style Broccoli, which was pretty plain and lacked flavor, and the Pork & Mushroom Dumplings. They tasted good, but they were dry enough that I probably wouldn't order them again. Overall, we really enjoyed our dinner and would definitely come back, but probably only for a special occasion. The food and experience were great, but the pricing keeps it from being a place we'd visit regularly or for a casual night out.

The pho broth is consistently good and they do not cheapen you on meats. It's one of the few places you can get dimsum and I think they do a decent job. My favorites are the turnip cake and the bbq pork baked buns (not steam). The pineapple bun was dry and the custard was crumbly so I wasn't a fan. My parents actually ordered a ton of food from here during Chinese New Year and everything was quite flavorful. The beef chow fun is probably one of my favorites in Colorado. There's a lot of wok hei. Overall, space is big enough to accommodate large groups. Parking is a hit or miss in the center - don't come during Chinese New Year unless you love searching for parking and tight spaces.

They have the dim sum, set price family dinners, special chef menu and then the main menu with; Chicken, beef, lamb, vegetables, lobster, FROG!, tofu, pan fried noodles, soup, just to name a few. This is a seafood restaurant and saw them fishing the lobsters out of the tank. We started off with a family favorite of small size of seafood fish maw soup which could have easily fed 6-8 people. We were a party of 4 . We had extra to take home too. Then we moved onto the highlight which was the crispy Peking duck. We were 4 people and this 1/2 duck was the perfect size. The skin was juicy and crisp and not dry and leathery. This was a delight to have and the star of our dinner. We then moved on the a chef special menu item which was smoked spare ribs. This was a disappointment. We got overly sweetened little tiny riblets with no smokiness. They were super thin and not what we expected. Will kit order this again. The black mushroom with vegetables was ok. I expected the black mushrooms to be more tender and felt they could have been simmered more to make them softer. They were a bit chewy The yang chow fried rice was a bit on the dry side. We ordered the beef noodles with gravy and this dish was perfect with the crispy noodles under a bed of beef and vegetables. This was delicious. We also ordered and nibbled on a couple of dim sum dishes for dinner. The deep fried meat dumplings were not greasy and had a crunchy exterior. We also ordered the lotus wrapped rice which was comfort food satisfying. We had a lively bilingual Chinese speaking waitress who was super friendly and had water, tea, ice water glasses filled at all times. She was helpful when selecting the food items.

Sure enough, there was shrimp in it and I was in pretty severe pain for a few hours. They really need to take those issues into better consideration. Other than that, I really do like Empress and would go back but will need to open up everything I get to make sure there is no shrimp in anything.

The shumai and pork buns came out first and really heightened our expectations. Both were delicious. The sauce that came with the shu mai is one of my favorites that I have ever tried. The pork buns are served with a spicy sauce which my dad liked but I decided to pass on. After that, we continued to get more and more disappointed. The Kung Pao Shroom Trio was not our favorite. The sauce on top was lacking and this dish really needs some protein. We also did not enjoy the cheeseburger dumplings. They did not have any cheese in them and the spicy mustard on top did not go with what we felt like the theme of the dish should be. I will say that every dish has great presentation. When we went, it was late. However, none of the servers seemed extremely interested in helping and they would drop items and quickly leave before you could say anything. They do have an online order and pay system which is really nice and the food comes out quickly. They do keep your sodas filled. The ambiance is definitely more bar like (again, makes sense since it was late) since they have a bar upstairs. Not a place for kids. We would come again for some shu mai and pork buns, but that's all.

We opted for a 3 item bbq plate - roast duck, roast pork and bbq pork (char siu). The bbq pork was fine, nothing special but the highlight was the roast duck and pork. The skin on the duck is still crispy, and had a good ratio of fat to meat and bones. Some places make it with a strong star anise flavor, but HKB does not. The flavor on the duck is sooo good and not too salty. The roast pork was juicy and the skin super crunchy! They gave a solid portion too. I'd spend my $20 on this any day! The 2 item and 3 item bbq options are on a separate lunch menu, but I'm not sure if it's offered daily or just weekdays. The rice plates come with some steamed chinese broccoli and a big scoop of rice. They also provide the bbq with a little dipping sauce. It pairs well with the greens, but is a tad bit salty so use sparingly. We also ordered beef chow fun, dry style. The beef slices are tender, the chow fun has that good wok hei flavor, nice and smoky. I do wish the noodles were a tad bit wider but overall, very solid dish. Sesame balls look/taste like the pre made frozen kind. It had a good chew, solid red bean filling and you get a ton for $5. The service here is nice and friendly. They give you giant cups of water and will check on you to refill it as well. It's in a plaza, lots of shared parking spaces and they do take CC for payment. I am devastated that my now favorite HK BBQ is not in California, but if anyone asks me where to eat in Denver, this spot is going to be my #1 recommendation.

Any Google search for "shrimp chow mein" shows stir-fried egg noodles with shrimp and vegetables. Instead, I was served mixed vegetables with a separate bag of crispy noodles. The fried rice in my photo was my own substitution for the white rice that normally comes with the lunch special, so that's not the issue. I already ate the shrimp before taking the photo, which is why they aren't pictured. The lunch portion only came with about four shrimp. If this restaurant serves a different regional style of chow mein, that should be clearly explained on the menu so customers know what they're ordering. When you order chow mein, you expect actual chow mein noodles--not vegetables with a side of rice and a bag of crunchy noodles. Unfortunately, this wasn't what I ordered or expected, and I wouldn't order it again.

Shrimp Shumai: this was the first item I took out of the bag and disappointment was the first feeling I felt. I should've trusted my gut when I saw the name of the dish but the photo didn't match. I based it off the photo and what was delivered was not what was in the photo. Instead, I got these small, nickel sized diameter "dumplings" that are straight up mushy. Xiao long bao: maybe it was delivery issue, but all dumplings were broken, and the soup leaked. Aside from this, the wrapping is thick especially at the top where the twist is. The filling is also mushy but better than the shrimp Shumai. I still wouldn't get this again. Chili wontons: again, maybe a delivery issue but there wasn't a lot of chili oil since it leaked out of the bag. Aside from that, the wrapper was thick. Filling was meh. Mapo tofu: just okay but again, very hard to mess up mapo tofu in general imo. Lacks meat. Probably the best thing out of what I ordered unfortunately
