Went by today 7/2/2026 at approximately 3 pm. There were no employees visible inside the store. Cars were in the parking lot. A couple were in the drive through. Went to the counter to order and to my surprise, nobody came to the window to take my order. Another customer came up and knocked on the window. Still, nobody came to the counter. We arrived more than an hour before closing and the person at the window ordered about 10 desserts then the next person ordered two sundaes then it was us. There were two staffers and one staffer stopped helping to start cleaning and we waited more than 20 minutes for the two orders to be filled to just make our order then another ten minutes. The staff person who was cleaning should have stopped and helped with the large order. By the time we served they still had 30 minutes to closing to clean up. On top of that, they no longer carry sugar cones and instead try to upsale you to a waffle cone. Not coming back as Doumars has better ice cream and great sugar cones. read more

I did an online order last night 9-15-2025 and it said it would be ready in 20 minutes. I get there walk up and there was 2 employees a male and female working. The young lady was sweeping and the young man was working the drive through. I'm letting them do their thing thinking they'll notice me standing there but they didn't. So I go to the drive thru and it's the same thing. I get out and tap on the window and the male yelled at me you wait!!! Never felt so disrespected and it's my first time coming there. I love the ice cream. What I don't love is that every time I've gotten ice cream for my wife, they always manage to mess it up. It's not rocket science. All I ask for is a vanilla sundae with peanut butter syrup, bananas, whip cream, and a cherry. I think it's the simplest order. Several times they've not added the bananas, other times, no syrup. Tonight I got bananas, but they put chocolate syrup instead of peanut butter syrup. The teens working this place need to wake up and start listening better. I love coming to brusters I never have any complaints but tonight this employee rubbed me off the wrong way , first the way she answered the intercom was rude like if I was bothering her mind you it was 8:30. I ordered the regular waffle and when I asked her for some snickers mixed in it she told me she had none then asked me how many. After I explained to her that I was never asked that but I guess two. She didn't even mixed the ice cream like they would normally do it but I left it alone. As she was passing me the machine to tap pay she said with an attitude it's not there it's at the bottom but she was facing the machine upward so I couldn't see where I was tapping. Not a great experience at Bruster's:( We waited an hour in line, after tip I paid $25.00 for what was about $5.00 worth of ice cream!! I get prices have risen, but these portions were absolutely pathetic! My three scoop cup literally had the smallest scoops, the whole container weighed about 5 ounces (including the cup & lid) according to the website costs $7.50 and a large waffle bowl (four scoops) but only got three and that was 10.00. My order total was $23.25 with $1.75 tip (yes, stupid me left a tip!!!! even after this horrible experience). This math ain't mathin! My order total should have only been $17.50 + sales tax, not $23.25. Actually should have even been cheaper because the waffle bowl only had three scoops and not four (ordered four, got three) I feel completely ripped off all around. Quality, quantity as well as being overcharged. Plus the hour of wait time. This location was understaffed, slow and made drivers get all the way to the window before taking the order which only added exponentially to the queue time! The gentleman working the window clearly had the prices jacked up and wasn't sure what he was doing. All in all this was a huge disappointment!!!! read more

The reason why it hit me so hard even though it hit my wallet so hard? As simple as Cayanne Chocolate Ice Cream! This round I went for a shake and went with a Peanut Butter Parfait for the base... Not a good mix because of straw collapsing so much and you can only suck so hard before you mouth gets tired. Luckily, it was hot outside so it melted some. The main problem was the peanut butter getting clogged in the tubular transportation drain going to my face hole. Other than that, it was tasty! That Cayenne Chocolate though. It was the definition of ice cream insanity! You'd take it with whatever delivery method you prefer, and oh that sweetness of the chocolate... But, wait 10 seconds later, your mouth is on fire!!! Blazin hot... Well, the ice cream is cold. Ahhhh, that feels good! Oh no! More fire! And just repeat that for the entire life of the ice cream. I love the fact this place still draws a crowd. Like the variety but kind of disappointed in the quality of the milk shake. This not my first visit. I've been to the one in Gaithersburg, MD several times also and the milkshakes are great. I'm a creature of habit with the same type of flavors. This location puts a lot of milk and it taste like I'm just drinking milk. Also it takes a while because there's always only on or no more than 2 people in there. No matter the time(during the day, rush hour, evening, etc.). Yet again, another disappointing trip to Bruster's. The family and I decided to get a treat after dinner. For the third, and final time, Bruster's disappointed. My wife's Cotton Candy Explosion milkshake tasted fine, however, my strawberry tasted like mildew. Even the smell was unpleasant. I returned to the store to swap out for another flavor, yet again, it tasted horrible. Not sure if the 22oz cups (my wife had a 16oz) were once wet and had mold build up, but the second flavor also tasted awful. My one star is strictly because the staff was patient enough to hear me out and made another flavor for me in an attempt to fix the issue. Ever since I was a kid all I knew was Brusters. Still till this day I remember the excitement on my face whenever my parents took me!! NO OTHER ICE CREAM SHOP COMPARES in my opinion but that's just me. I personally always get the banana split. It typically comes with 1 scoop of chocolate, vanilla n strawberry but you can substitute flavors. Im not a chocolate ice cream type of guy so I get (2 scoops of strawberry ice cream, 1 scoop of vanilla ice cream, chocolate fudge, pineapple toppings, strawberry toppings, whip cream, cherry on top, fresh strawberries and last but not least the obvious fruit that starts with a B lol). Sometimes i get the hot fudge brownie sundae just to switch it up every now and then.... Those are my go to choices for that euphoric feeling lol. another ice cream flavor that i tried was the cotton candy explosion, im not really a fan of it but ..................... everytime i want to eat ice cream this is the first shop that comes to my mind ! I visited this location earlier today for the first time with the husband. We used the drive-thru which provided quick service. I was pleasantly surprised to learn they had graham central station, one of my favorite ice cream flavors. I ordered a cup for my husband and me. The cost was just under $10. The ice cream was excellent--nice chunks of graham cracker along with chocolate. It was so yummy, the husband could not stop talking about it. Worth every penny! read more

It's a hot Monday afternoon , so what's better than to cool down with some ice cream after work. Not surprising , there's a long line but the staff work diligently to keep the line moving. Unfortunately they were out of waffle bowls so that was a bummer, so I ended up getting a cone in the cup. I ordered the oreo flavored ice cream, but felt like it didn't have enough Oreos in it. It was more like eating vanilla ice cream with one Oreo in it .I was satisfied by the portion of ice cream but would appreciate more of a balance with the Oreos in the mix . About 20 walk-up customers are waiting that already paid for their ice cream and they keeps taking more orders rather than filling the order they already have. We realize there may be longer waits due to Covid staffing struggles... there are 3 people working. 1 taking orders for drive through, one taking orders for walk ups and 1 making orders - only for drive through customers. While I ate every bit of my nutty coconut ice cream , I have to say I have had better. This is a cute drive inn concept, however. They certainly have a following and many people were here purchasing. It's creamy, very sweet, but not as many nuts or flavor as the Baskin Robbins nutty coconut. How could you be disappointed, fresh ice cream. Delicious sugar cones. You get what you pay for. The small cone is plenty for a single serve cone, and the large don't do it. Ordered a 1/4 sheet cake 3 days in advance. When I went to pick up order they did not have it. Couldn't find the order for quite some time. Found the order, but no cake had been made. Had to go back 2 hours later, a 20 mile drive, and my order was not correct. They gave me two round cakes vs. the 1/4 sheet cake I ordered, specifically due to limited freezer space. After our now third attempt to come here during business hours we will no longer be coming back because the employees pick and choose when they will serve customers. The hours state they're open until 10 PM. We have come on 3 separate occasions including tonight at 9 PM, and 2 other nights at 8:30 and even though we can see employees walking around in the back they shut all of the lights off. Tonight my fiancé waited at the window for several minutes and made eye contract with the employees who didn't even have the decency to come to the window and address him. Just drove 5 miles because my husband wanted a banana split and finally after getting there we drove up to the menu and nobody greeted us for at least 2minutes. Finally when they realized we weren't going to drive away the girl came over the loud speaker to tell us that they were out of most it very cream flavors right now. I've been a long time fan of Bruster's! I always get the waffle bowl strawberry sundae, but this time I decided to try the strawberry shortcake. When I inquired about what was in it and was told that it had strawberries (as opposed to strawberry sauce), I was sold! However, instead of fresh strawberries, I got the strawberry sauce that I asked about (I guess I wasn't clear when asking). Anyhow, the sundae was alright...yellow cake, topped with 2 or 3 scoops of vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, and a cherry...kinda plain...I won't be getting this again, though. I know that I can't go wrong with my waffle bowl strawberry sundae with strawberry sauce pecans, whipped cream, and a cherry on top! My little girl got 2 scoops of birthday cake ice cream topped with whipped cream. She enjoyed it. Bruster's is good, but a little pricey in my opinion...even with a $3 off coupon (which you get automatically for downloading the app) I still spent a little more than I care to for ice cream. I think it was on Portsmouth Blvd. on the Portsmouth/Chesapeake boundary. I miss the real 'High's'. I must admit, though, since I've been going to Bruster's, I've started to miss High's less. I love that their standard and unique flavors are made on the premises. I'm not an extravagant ice cream eater. I don't go for huge sundaes drenched in chocolate and fruit. My choices are simple and my favorite is Banana and Strawberry. I like to do a single cup with this combo. I do a few others as well - Strawberry Cheesecake, Pina Colada, Cookies and Creme, etc.. Love their ice cream and make it a point to pay them a visit a few times a month although they are not close to my physical location. read more
