I just had to come leave an AMAZING review for Mike specifically he was super kind and accommodating when I had to order from door dash / Uber Eats I called and he was able to substitute something for me that wasn't available on the ordering app I called around to other brueggers and they were rude and hung up on me !!! 10/10 recommend definitely will be back and will come in when I can to leave a very generous tip they deserve it! read more

Everybody seemed pretty depressed. And I don't understand how you order first before you know what you want. The register is right at the door so I suppose you have to wrap around and figure it out. HEALTH CODE VIOLATION WAITING TO HAPPEN. I'm absolutely APPALLED at what just happened - one of the worst food experiences of my entire life. To start with, we were handed creamer for our coffee that was TEN DAYS EXPIRED. Let me say that again - TEN DAYS EXPIRED. My mom flagged this to the employee and she just walked off and threw it away. No apology for almost getting us SICK. Disgusting. To add to this - it took over 40 minutes to get three bagels and three coffees. The employees were working at a snail's pace - it was unbelievable. The customer service was non existent - particularly the young woman working the cash register - she was stand offish and felt like she was on another planet. I'm not going to lie, it seemed like half the staff may have been high. To add to this, the entire store seemed dirty and broken down. Eggs sitting out on the counter unrefrigerated, walls with chipped paint, trash and crumbs everywhere. I would never, ever come back here, especially with the risk of getting SICK. read more

I went to this Bruegger's Bagels on 1st Ave in Cedar Rapids and had a pleasant experience. I picked up a cream cheese bagel for friend of mine and the staff was very cheerful, friendly, and helpful. The store was clean and had a variety of seating options. My order was done very quick and was a reasonable price. Overall, pretty good experience! I will definitely return to try some of their unique bagel sandwiches! read more

Says it opens at 6:00 am but arrived at 7:03 and it was dark. Someone came to the door and started turning on the lights. Ordered just a single bagel and cream cheese but he said the oven had to heat up. Finally served at 7:28. The bagel was doughy in the middle. Place an order for 16 bagels and two cream cheese. They recently changed the order process and the front counter employee seemed like he was unhappy to have to serve customers and I was inconveniencing him. Grabbed order and got home to find out they didn't include the cream cheese tubs. I called and the kid said that it was my fault that I didn't grab them. I was in town for insurance claims, and this was my breakfast spot for two months. I will definitely miss this place. I know they have more locations but this was the place I got my first Bruegger's Bagel. Skinny Bacon Avocado, Western and Farmhouse are my favorites. The staff here are so amazing. No matter how early it is or how many customers they have they are always cheerful and kind and do things like help people to their cars or genuinely tell you to have nice a day. Good bagels when they have the a-team working. Most of the time staffing here is completely awful- no one knows great customer service whatsoever. Every experience has been to the point of being stressful. How can a bagel sandwich take 30 minutes to make when there are 2 people in line? How can you give me the completely wrong bagel 2 times in a row? How can you have gross slober on your face while working over making my bagel sandwich? Who is the owner/franchise manager? Do you want to make money at this establishment? Then DO something about our comments/reviews on Yelp. Only recommend if you're craving bagels and do not want to trek to the other Brueggers on Mt Vernon road. The bagels don't seem as fresh as the one on Mt. Vernon and they're not as nice to you. They won't offer coupons to you to be nice, it's hard for the people behind the counter to smile and look like they want to help it seems. There were two people behind the counter and a full line, but only one person was working and taking orders. The bigger size soup was tiny and almost as much as a sandwich. Hot cocoa has always been a disappointment here, watered down. The coffee here also is not impressive. For a regular coffee, drive a meter in the same parking lot and go to Starbucks. read more

The line was moving at a snails pace despite the fact that there were 5 employees behind the counter. They need to hire someone that knows how to get things moving! I love Bruegger's as a chain, but this location is not my favorite. I'd never tried their sandwiches before, so I thought I'd give it a whirl. Tuna melts are my favorite and they had a tuna sandwich, the ability to add cheese to any sandwich and a toaster oven. They would let me add cheese to the sandwich, but said they cannot put it through the toaster or the panini press they put all the other sandwiches in. As a New Yorker, this place is awful. No seriously, not trying to be a Karen, but I have eaten so many bacon egg and cheeses in my life, gone to almost every bodega/deli combo in the five boroughs, and never have i had such a bland yet expensive sandwich. A BE&C should be $3 at MAXIMUM, and thats in an area with a $14 minimum wage. The eggs are gross with egg shells in them, the cheese is tasteless, the ham is just as bad as the cheese, and the bagels? Insulting. I have eaten here 4-5 times and each time, i wish i had gone to Dunkin Donuts, at least the bagel will be cooked. Not to mention they didn't even give me the free coffee they said they would honor from the mobile app. Granted, we did come in thirty minutes before close (not cool i know), but the staff were also really unhelpful, saying all their iced coffee is frozen (seriously, what?) yet giving it to a customer 5 minutes before close? This is as authentic to New York food, as Taco Bell is to Mexican cuisine. read more

UPDATE: Unfortunately, the problems with bagel production at this location has not improved much. When done right, a Bruegger;s bagel is the closest you can get to a real bagel here in Cedar Rapids, but I am still disappointed with the bagels produced at this particular location. There seems to be a problem with staff.There is a a consistent problem with baking. Too often bagels are dumped in the sell bin before they are ready for sale. For example, the last time I purchased a dozen, 5 bagels were flat; really flat. They should have been discarded. Three of them had the obvious imprint of bagels dumped on top of them before the bagels were adequately cooled. Such mistakes have not been uncommon at this location. Atmosphere is pretty good, workers are friendly, table was clean etc. Food was phenomenal. We got everything bengals; one with ham egg and cheese and one was the western. They have a unique drink selection all of which are pretty good. I recommend the Nantucket nectars - squeezed lemon aid or naked strawberry banana fruit smoothie. The sandwich I ordered was fine. When I ordered chips with my sandwich, the young man at the counter asked if I wanted a soda for the trio special. I did not want a drink, and when he rang up my order, I asked how much if I got the drink. He replied ten cents cheaper. This young man could have easily created a win-win situation and a satisfied customer by offering me the special price on my sandwich and chips. When I pointed this out to him, he replied, that was the special, and there was nothing he could do about it. Based on my own experience and another review here, I have to conclude that the team members at this location are lacking not only in customer service, but good common sense. This was my first experience at a Bruegger's Bagels and I will never be coming back. The staff was incredibly rude, disrespectful, and impatient. I was hurried through ordering by a very rude staff member who repeatedly prompted me to order ever 15 seconds. Later, a companion of mine went to purchase one of their Naked Brand Juices only to realize it was over a week expired. The staff member we told about the expired drink seemed unsurprised and uninterested and just put the juice back in the cooler. I would never come here, unless you want to be treated rudely by obnoxious coeds who can't even spell "customer service" and drink expired juice. read more

Employees behind the counter asked in a very pushy tone if we were ready yet to which my friends and I replied no. 20 seconds later they asked again in a sarcastic manner. We had only taken about 3 minutes to decide...My friends and I placed our orders and in the checkout line my friend decided to get one of the naked smoothie juices they sell. She looked at the expiration date and told the cashier that it was over a week expired. The cashier nodded her head and said ok showing no concern for serving expired drinks. so my friend put it back down on the counter and proceeded to pay for her order. Where you used to frequent a different location without issue? A place where you crave their salad or sandwich, but when you go you know there's a good chance that it won't be what it was supposed to be. A place where you better check every damn thing you were supposed to have in your bag before you leave?? Well this location is that place. Poorly managed - unsure if there is a manager. Always an issue here. Perhaps call if you want a salad - to save yourself a drive. Last time I went, they were out of lettuce. Yes - a sandwich, salad lunch place out of lettuce. This time, I ordered the blue apple salad and paid. Five minutes after I paid, they tell me their chicken is all frozen. They asked if I wanted ham (yes ham - gross) or lunch meat turkey on a salad that is supposed to be: Romaine and arugula, diced grilled chicken, blue cheese, dried cranberries, sliced almonds and diced apple, served with champagne vinaigrette. Because I was taking it to-go, I asked if they could just give me the frozen chicken and I would thaw it before I ate. They couldn't saw my portion off. I'm like - it's 11:00pm - didn't you know already that you didn't have your lunch items ready-to-go? Some lady who appeared to be running the place - had a check sheet and was giving orders - who hadn't offered any help to this point, said they could set the chicken on something to warm it enough to give me my frozen portion. I sat down and waited. When I opened the bag later to eat, there was no bread with the salad? I don't know if there is supposed to be at this point - but seems odd. Also seems odd that everyone just drifts around this mismanaged place with no solutions, just issues. In all of this - an offer of a refund or different meal never came up. It was always me asking about thawing the appropriate items. The area where they dress the bagels looks like it's been ransacked, too. Years ago, I frequented the Iowa City location a lot for the Caesar salad or Herby turkey. If you just want a bagel you may be okay at this spot. If you want a salad or sandwich then you are rolling the dice. read more
