Not good priced. Very expensive and the work was still bot complete. Brought my Jetta to a different shop. I spent less there and got the job priced right and done right too. I'm not sure why and how other reviewers had such good experiences. But I'll say that after one experience with Bruce, that was enough. I'll give more details later. read more

Bruce is not only a person of character he is also competent! You may be able to find an honest mechanic but not all may be very competent. But Bruce is both honest and extremely competent! I trust him with all my vehicles no matter how old or new. read more

Bruce has worked on my car a couple of times already and he was able to to fix what some backyard mechanic broke in first place. He is honest and straight to the point, communication is key and he will text you with any updates, even though I had to drive to Plano and his price was a little more than other places it was well worth it, quality over quantity. read more

Bruce The Mechanic - Auto Repair Near Me - Plano, Texas

Found Bruce on Yelp. Most definately did not disappoint. He was quick to diagnose and fix my issue in a timely manner. The price was more than fair. He is a great mechanic & I would recommend him to anyone looking. You won't regret reaching out to him. read more

My previous review was two stars and 5e manager/owner quickly responded. Embarrassingly, after a few messages back and forth I now understand I was reviewing the wrong biz. We did stop there and because closed talked with a group of guys in the unit over. They were very helpful he flattering to Grease Monkey. So I'm giving it 5 star based on speed of communication and peer reputation. And lastly, to make good on a poor error. read more

Bruce is a fantastic and reasonably priced mechanic. Being a somewhat DIY mechanic myself, I trust Bruce with all the things that I don't trust myself with lol. I have been bringing cars to Bruce for a few years, ever since he was repairing them out of his home. The jobs I have had Bruce do range from changing bushings in a Ford Econoline work van, to a complete engine swap in my 1989 BMW. Every time I have brought a car to Bruce it is fixed in a timely manner, and the price is always much lower then what I would expect to pay at the dealership or other mechanics. When there was a coolant leak in our Porsche Cayenne I feared the worst, but it ended up being pipes and a belt that needed replacing. The car was back on the road in 1 day! 5 stars for Bruce! He is a trustworthy and highly capable mechanic with a background in engineering. It's hard to find a good mechanic, but Bruce is the real deal. read more

Got an oil change at a national chain which then proceeded to tell me that my brakes & rotors were wore down and needed to be replaced. Estimate, of course, was over 500 dollars. Did a quick call to Bruce the same day, quoted me less and was able to machine the rotors instead of replace which even saved more. He was able to do this work in the same day as well. Bruce as always thanks for your help and auto wisdom! Fiona and I appreciate it! read more

Bruce is someone you should definitely consider calling anytime your car has issues. As someone that has bad experience with previous mechanics (parents been scammed, personally scammed, and other annoying things), Bruce is a reminder there are biz owners who care about the integrity of their work and care about their customers. He will always be honest about expectations for the job and always give it 110% whenever he does anything. I'd highly recommend him. read more

Fast service, fair price, very prompt with diagnosis and feedback. My ac works great now.

I messaged Bruce on Yelp at 12:30pm, as I live in Dallas but happened to be up in Plano. My car had some bad vibrations from a warped brake rotor, and some loose body trim from a storm that I was driving through. He messaged back within 1 hour and told me to bring it in. Bruce took care of everything within 2 hours. Quick, efficient, and affordable as always. Here's the kicker: I've had a clunking/banging noise from my rear suspension for four years. Nobody has ever been able to figure it out, because the suspension itself looks fine. I've had it looked at by three or four good mechanics, and I finally gave up and just dealt with it. Bruce heard the clunk when he was working on my car. His first response: "Dangit." His second: Bruce dug around the rear suspension, even though he didn't have to, and after more inspection, found a suspension bolt that was loose. I didn't realize 'til after Bruce fixed it that I've been carrying stress and tension every time I drive because I always feel like the suspension is about to fail. Now I can drive with peace of mind. All thanks to Bruce just being a great guy and wanting to help a customer out. Bruce is seriously one of the best mechanics I've ever taken my car to. He's clear, quick, smart, proactive, and never overcharges you. He does the work you ask for and agree to. Stand up guy, great service, everyone should come here. read more

I have been going to Grease Monkey for quite a while. Bruce the mechanic does a good job and treats you right on the price. I have had no issue with his work or service and he is always lower than others for work prices. I would recommend when going you at e prepared to drop off and not wait. The prices are not crazy low so do not have unrealistic expectations. It is fair and you get a good work product. What more can you ask for. read more

If you do not have the courtesy to return phone call, email or online request for appointment, I wonder what kind of of response a customer would get when they need you or for guaranty issues. read more

Had a loud rattling noise coming from underneath my car after a road trip. I messaged Bruce and heard back fairly quick. He was able to look at the car the next day and took care of the problem right away. Excellent service and trustworthy. Thanks for your help and will definitely return for maintenance and repairs in the future. read more

My car wound up having something smash the fan in my car which then went in to the radiator. I looked for a mechanic near me. It was a Friday after 5 and most of the other places where closed or where closing. In a last ditch effort, I called one last number and got Bruce. Online it showed that he was closed but tried anyway. Bruce told me to bring it in to him and recommended a tow service, which was reasonable. When we arrived, he greeted us warmly and not like some one making him late for happy hour. He comes across like your buddy from high school that loves cars and loves to work on them. Except that, from what I remember from the conversation, he has a degree in engineering. He said he would look at the problem and let me know the next day... a Saturday. Mechanics usually work on Saturdays but it's usually catchup time for them and don't answer phones. He called me and explained the problem, the price, which was very reasonable, and asked when I wanted to pick it up. Thinking he would have typical mechanics schedule I thought it would be Monday. I asked him when I could pick it up and he said in a couple hours. I can't say enough about this guy. He is savvy at his job and very personable, not to mention priced in such a way that you know you are getting the best deal. I am writing this at this moment waiting for him to open because I have a new issue with my car ( it stalls if I don't give it gas) but I am willing to drive it from North Mckinney to South Plano just to have him look at it. Again, my confidence in Bruce is high and do not want any other mechanic looking at my car. read more

I've been looking for a personal mechanic for a while now. After several bad experiences, and being quite fond of my car, I was reluctant to take it to another mechanic. And then, I found Bruce! This guy really knows about cars, and most importantly, he really does treat every car as if it were his own. Moreover, I paid less than what I would have paid to take it to a unethical mechanic. It was a "win win" situation for me and I hope Bruce never changes profession! :) read more

This is the mechanic to go to if you don't want to get ripped off. Bruce doesn't try to sell you extra stuff to make your car "run better" unless it concerns the safety of the car. Very reasonable labor cost. I live down in Dallas, but whenever i have big fixes, I come here. read more

My Honda Accord has been without AC for three years, and though I needed it, I refused to take it anywhere because I knew how expensive AC repairs are and I didn't want to get scammed. I live in Austin and once I knew Bruce opened up his own shop, I couldn't wait to get my car to him. Turns out my AC wasn't working because of a bad relay, and the fix was easy. I wish I had gone to him earlier. If you're looking for an honest mechanic, Bruce is the real deal. I'll definitely be recommending him to my friends and family in Dallas. read more

Coordinated with Bruce to have the AC repaired on my 08 accord. He repaired it quickly, accurately, and for a reasonable price. Definitely on my list of repair shops to use when I need work done. read more

I have had two repairs done here and highly recommend Grease Monkey. Bruce is very knowledgeable and trust-worthy.... something I've recently found lacking at Lute Riley service center (they keep recommending repairs that are found not to be necessary). Added bonus is that the prices are below dealership prices for "as good or better" work. I will be taking all three of my vehicles to Bruce. read more

Took my car in for a catalyst replacement. Received quality service and a quick turn-around.

I was recommended to Grease Monkey by a friend. Was told that the owner Bruce was an honest and upright owner. A guy who would be straight with you. Also, that he did what he did for the love and passion of the work - not to rip people or for the money. I can see that without a doubt is the case. He responds in a timely manner to yelp messages and even honest with you if he feels there is another location or person who might be a little bit better at exactly the need you have or situation - he will, without hesitation even refer or recommend you to whatever is in your best interest. That is awesome ministry and work and rather rare in this day and age. read more

My engine overheated and battery died while on a car trip. I was able to get an appointment right away to get everything checked. Grease Monkey 2.0 did a great job checking my car and finding exactly where the problems were. I got everything fixed the same day and for a great price. My car drives like new again! They did a great job asking what exactly happened and explaining what was wrong and needed repaired right away and what could wait if I needed to spread out the repairs. Cost exactly what they quoted, which was less than I expected. read more

Wow I can't believe I never left a review for Bruce! I'm a hardcore car guy who does a lot of my own work, and Bruce is one of the very few I trust to leave my vehicles to when I don't have time to get to them myself. He is unbelievably knowledgeable and honest. One of the few places you can leave your vehicle and totally trust you are getting the very best of service and advice. I 110% recommend Bruce for any repair work or automotive needs! read more

Excellent service. I looked into all reviews below before scheduling and will testify all are accurate of Bruce and his service. Very knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful for all car related issues. read more

First off, as I've indicated in my previous Yelp reviews, I'm guilty of visiting establishments based from Yelp reviews, but not publishing my own reviews. Let me tell you, I found the best mechanic for my vehicle from Yelp, Grease Monkey V2.0. I own a Porsche Cayenne. Any repair or maintenance for this type of vehicle can be costly at the dealership. Like the majority of car owners, I was tired of expensive auto repair charges . Luckily, I found Grease Monkey V2.0 by doing a search on Yelp. Kudos to the Yelper for posting the Porsche Cayenne review! Anyways, the repairs I had completed on my vehicle included a new drive shaft, new spark plugs and other routine maintenance. I found Bruce to be hardworking and very knowledgeable about vehicles. From the variety of vehicles parked in the Auto Shop, it appears Bruce will be able to work on any type of vehicle. His pricing is very reasonable. You will not be "duped" nor "pressured" into purchasing unnecessary services for your vehicle. Bruce is professional and easy to work from my experience dealing with Grease Monkey. A bonus is the Auto Shop is located a block north of the George Bush Turnpike in Plano. This is perfect location should you drop off your vehicle to ride to a destination on the Dart Rail line. The Grease Monkey location is convenient for me to ride the Dart rail into downtown for work while my vehicle is being serviced. read more
