I got an awesome groupon here ($15 for 5 sessions; gosh, I really should've went for the 10 sessions one ...) and I have very ambiguous feelings about the upcoming end. It's great to come in, get my eyebrows threaded, and feel like the tip that I pay upon leaving is how much I actually paid. Even so, $3 + $2 leaves me with a measly $5 operation after which I feel like I am much more presentable to the world. After all, I have a really bad habit of not coming to get my eyebrows threaded until they're in a bad shape; they always have to reshape when I come :x It's recommended that you get your eyebrows threaded every 2 weeks so that there isn't as much pain. (I guess the pain comes from the shaping, rather than the trimming). Five minutes of agony and sometimes tears - girls, don't wear non-waterproof mascara or eyeliner if you plan on being seen in public afterwards - but it's totally worth it. The minutes are gone before you know it, and the soothing mini-massage of the brows with the aloe gel help tremendously. Both Manisha and Maggie are very nice, and they can be talkative if you want or silent while you concentrate on bearing out the pain. I tend towards the latter. :x For those who were not able to get the groupon, they do have a $5 threading early morning special from 10-11am! :) Everything else is pretty reasonably priced as well. The only con is that this is kind of out of the way for me, especially now that I go to school in Washington Heights; although I really like this place, I'm not thaaat willing to trek this far. There isn't really much around in this neighborhood, and I don't feel entirely safe walking around when it gets dark. You actually have to ring a bell before you can get buzzed in, which is a reasonable safety precaution, but ... yeah, that makes me feel uneasy. Overall, Eyebrows Threading Spa is very neat, well-kept, comfortable, and relatively painless. The whole experience is smooth, and the clean, tasteful interior is definitely NOT what you'd expect from the surrounding area during the trek to and from the nearby subway stations. Do not be alarmed by the area, either; it's not actually unsafe. I think. :) read more

Manisha hooked me alllllll the way up. It was the night of my holiday party and I needed to get my eyebrows and upper lip situation handled. I hate doing my brows and mustache because my skin is so sensitive. So by the time I made it to Manisha, my brows were as far from fleeky as possible and my mustache was silky and gleaming in the moonlight #hawt Manisha was so gently while sorting out my fur, there was no irritation from the wax or threading. My unmanageable brows were tamed. She was even able to make generally unruly and sparse brows look full without even tinting them!!! She's a pro and knows exactly what she's doing. I've had brazilian waxes done in other places and they hurt...but here it is pain free! Manisha does not double dip the wax, each customer gets their own wax. BTW, she uses a wax that smells like chocolate...its so yummy. They do an amazing job on eyebrows and even sell an oil to help your eyebrows grow thicker and faster.While you're there, also get a facial. My favorite facial is the Oxygen Facial....all facials include a mini back massage. read more

This is the only eyebrow threading place I'll ever go to. The ambiance is very casual and welcoming, and appointments are not necessary. Sometimes one woman is working there, sometimes there are two, but whoever is there is friendly and almost always available. The prices are also very good! $7 is the normal price, but there is a discount if you go during the first hour they are open, in which case you can get your threading for only $5. They also have loyalty cards so that after a certain number of visits, you get a free one! The work they do is excellent. They are fast and precise and I am always happy with how I look when I leave. Giving this place 3 stars because they are amazing at threading brows, but do not get a Brazilian here. I decided to stop by because I was in the area and it happened to be on the way. The wax was painful and there were several hairs left behind. It also took a lot longer than my usual place - so it wasn't great. Also for the place it is 40 dollars was way expensive because it wasn't exactly good nor was the place super clean. read more

I went yesterday and got a henna. While I thought it was uncomfortable that we did a henna on my lap versus on a flat surface ie a table and she did not even sketch out my henna I let that go. I was a bit frustrated by the fact that she kept scrapping whatever ink she had left in her tube and kept having to go over lines in my henna (which showed when it dried) also I am an art student so the uneven lines and lack symmetry was irritating to say the least. I paid $47.47 for my henna nevertheless and today a mere ONE DAY LATER it is faded. It looks awful as if my cousin drew on my hand with a sharpie and it is fading. I am so disappointed by my experience today. I have been here 4-5 times before, so given that my graduation photos are in three days I thought it would be safe to go to the local threading salon that used to always do a decent job. Unfortunately the person who did my eyebrows (the younger woman) made them uneven, she thinned them though I did not want them thinned, and the arches do not match. The owner asked me to come back and when I did she offered to thin out my other eyebrow to match. Mind you, I rather fill in my eyebrows to make them appear even then have them thinned out more, especially since I never wanted them thinned to begin with. I am extraordinarily upset, and clearly will never return. What other steps might you ask did they take to compensate me for this horrible job? Free random oil to put on my eyebrow to help the hair grow back, no offer of a refund, I got out of there as soon as I could as I was getting pretty upset, and I did not want to be rude. However, they ruined my eyebrows, I will never go back, and of all the times to do it literally 3 days before I take my graduation photos, and weeks before my brother's wedding, to say I am pretty bummed out by this experience is an understatement. I've been a customer of Eyebrow Threading Spa for over a year now which is why it's unfortunate that I'm writing this type of review. Yesterday I went to get my eyebrows threaded as I normally do each month or so. The employee began threading my brows and all seemed normal until toward the end. My eyebrows grow in full but I have very light colored strands, so I figured she was maybe taking her time. When she finished I was shocked to see my left eyebrow had two bald patches, was far too thin, and now began further away from my right eyebrow. Even the arch is different. I immediately brought it to her attention and she appeared befuddled, not saying much. I told her that my eyebrow never had these patches and I should not be expected to pay for this. She attempted to thread it some more but I refused, telling her that there was barely any hair left to remove. There was another woman in the shop so she went to tend to her, while also calling who I believed to be the shop owner. After mentioning that I was going out to dinner that night, another customer in the shop suggested a particular eyebrow pencil that could help. After her suggestion the employee attempted to fix it with an eyebrow pencil that was far too light. Tinting was mentioned but again, there are barely any eyebrow hairs left to tint. To keep from turning this into a novel, I was highly frustrated and disappointed after being a customer for this long. There was no apology for the terrible job, or even some type compensation. In fact the customers in the shop were more comforting and helpful with fixing my eyebrow. My morning routine today was beyond frustrating having to essentially draw my left eyebrow back on. read more

I have been going to this place for about a year now and Maggie is THE BEST! She does my eyebrows so well and I have curly, thick eyebrows and I know how hard to find a skilled technician. I used to work in Jersey City and had found someone I really like but switched jobs and being from Manhattan I simply had to find someone in the city who could get the job done well on my eyebrows and it took me a while to find but I can happily say I have found it! Eyebrows Threading Spa is the last option for me. I discovered this place and the older lady who works there seemed pretty nice but then I realized she was trying to push services to be able to charge me more. Eyebrows seemed descent so I thought I could come back. I've been coming once or twice a month and I have observed some things that have made me disgusted and even concerned. First and foremost, their prices for waxing services are relatively high considering that on the Upper East Side you could get the same wax service for even $20 less. Never mind that, the lady owns a dog, whom she let's around in the store sometimes. A couple of weeks ago as I was waiting to get my eyebrow service, I saw her play with the dog and without washing her hands or at least using hand sanitizer she threaded some poor girl's eyebrows! Can you imagine all the doggie 'doo' and bacteria that she just rubbed onto that girl's face? When they're done threading they use a brush to brush off hair from your face. They use this same brush with everyone and they don't wash it between uses. I've seen them use the brush with a client and put it back and then using it with a different client when they're done with their eyebrows. Haven't you ever heard that people shouldn't be sharing makeup brushes? I can imagine the microscopic cuts on people's skin after waxing and threading harboring bacteria transferred on to the brush and then the next unknowing victim's face. This is beyond gross, unhygienic, and a real health problem if you think about it. Skin infections, staph infections, even blood, bacteria, dust from the brush and everything you can think of is transferred this way. The younger girl who works there is a disaster too. In one visit, I saw 2 other girls complain about her in addition to me. She threads way too hard and cuts into your skin, other girls were complaining about her making eyebrows look different from each other, shorter, and bald spots. She doesn't know what she's doing and isn't effective at communicating with customers either. This place needs a wash up. It is very run down, old, dirty, and looks like an old hair salon turned into a threading salon because they still keep the dirty old brushes and other hair salon tools. Seriously, don't bother unless you want to get a skin disease from these unhygienic people that want to charge more than neighboring upper east side threading salons... My eyebrows look so bad right now and I am considering going back to my old threading place in Brooklyn just because this place isn't worth it. Whenever there are customers waiting, the older lady rushes through your service and then your eyebrows aren't completely done, uneven, and your upper lip still has lots of long hairs on it. If you want to keep customers focus on quality over quantity !!! read more

I bought a groupon for 5 sessions. After the second session she told me that the groupon was expired and that I could not get the three remaining sessions. This is so dishonest. I have been to this spa quite a few times to get my eyebrows threaded. I believe it was the owner who threaded my brows at those times and my eyebrows were fine. I recently went back last Sunday to get my brows threaded and there was a young girl who serviced me. As I left the spa people in the street were staring at me I assumed it was from the redness from the threading. I got inside the elevator in my aunt's building and was asked where I got my brows done and people were telling me that they were messed up. Im so embarrassed I have to go to work , walk around with eyebrows that look horrible. My sister today came down to the city from Yonkers and asked me where I got my brows done because they look bad.
