Disappointed with my experience. I had a 3-hour appointment scheduled with a $200 deposit. My appointment was canceled because I had coffee that morning, and I was told the entire deposit was forfeited. My brows were super sparse, but I had never considered microblading until my daughter had her brows done by Katrina. I couldn't believe how natural they look. So, to get an appointment as a new client, you have to wait till the 1st day of the next month when she opens up limited appointments for that month. You gotta be quick because sometimes those appointments fill up in 5 minutes. On the day of my appointment I nervously enter the reception area. It's nice and welcoming. Katrina greets me and takes my temperature and then leads me inside her studio. She's so warm and sweet that I'm instantly at ease. We spent almost half the time on the consultation and drawing the brows. Once the brows are drawn to my liking, she begins the microblading. You do feel the strokes, even after the numbing cream, but it's not too bad. Katrina is such a perfectionist, she goes over my brows several times to make sure every stroke is exactly where it should be. She gives you a goody bag with ointment, face shield for when you wash your hair, and other necessities for your healing. I followed her instructions, and my brows healed very easily. Hardly any scabbing and no itching. They look so good, I didn't really need to have much done during the touch up appointment (8-10 weeks later). I couldn't be happier with my brows. I HIGHLY recommend Katrina. She is an artist! From the moment I stepped into her office I knew I was in good hands. She explains the procedure in detail, answering any questions that arose. My eyebrows were sparse, especially the right one. I was interested in getting them tastefully filled, nothing too drastic. She listened to my request and delivered. She took time to draw in the eyebrows first so I could see what they would look like before she started the micro blading, sort of like a stencil. Once that was approved she started micro blading. I have gone to Katrina frequently over the past few years. She has done all of my touch-ups on the suggested timing. However, I always questioned why the procedure hurt so much with so much blood. Many years ago, I had my first microblading procedure from a woman in SF. She was considerably more expensive than Katrina so when I saw Katrina's 5 star reviews and price point, I started going to Katrina. However, the SF woman's work did not hurt one bit while Katrina's was a test of my pain tolerance not to mention the blood. Anyways - I have had someone else take a look at my brows as I need to get a touch-up and coupled with the fact I was always in pain during Katrina's sessions, she said Katrina went too deep with her instrument. So now I'll get a saline wash to get all of the purple out and start over. This is only my experience but a review nonetheless that I think is worth sharing. Katrina is the only artist where I looked at her pictures and felt amazed, felt in love, felt confident that my brow will turn out good. When it comes to any area of your face you should not mess around. She has an extensive portfolio on IG that you should check out before making your decision. She has a website that's easy to navigate to book your appointment but I would recommend following her in IG so you know when appointments are available. Her website has extensive information on the microblading process, so it's a good read up before your appointment. Her shop is located in San Ramon in a plaza that is easy to find and provides ample parking. I've gone for the initial appointment and touch up appointments and I absolutely love my brows. Each appointment starts out by mapping the brows for the shape. She takes her time mapping everything out which is great, take all the time you need. She makes sure I'm good with the shape before proceeding with the numbing cream. After the numbing cream, the process starts. The process of microblading feels like mini-cuts over your eyebrows with a scratching sound alongside it, and while the microshading feels like poking dots. Don't feel discouraged by my description because it wasn't that bad. I just want you to be mentally prepared unlike I was and the scratching noises freaked me out. What I love about her style is that it's natural and conservative. You can always do more but you can't take back. She walks you through everything, she will even show you everything she uses. She is a little on the pricey side but it is WELL worth it. I have absolutely no regrets. She gives you the next steps on what to expect and how to care for your brows. Follow the directions and you'll have the best results. She books up super fast (like a couple minutes fast). So, do yourself a favor and don't go cheap on your eyebrows. Getting my brows mirco bladed is one of the smartest cosmetic decisions I've made for myself. During the work week, I wear the least amount of makeup, but for sure my brows. Not having to fill in my brows in everyday, or times when I wear a full face has helped out a lot. You can tell she's a makeup artist as she is brilliant at designing the right brow shape for your face (unlike some other microbladers who use the same design on each client).
