I purchased my 2007 Chevy Silverado in March of 2012. In the 5 years I have had the truck, I have driven it maybe 4 years. It has been completely rebuilt from top to bottom. New engine, new tranny, the list goes on. Mike has never charge me labor, but the problem lies with the quality of work. They basically duct tape it back together, then it ends up back in the shop every 3 months. I have been stranded and towed 10 times now, and my children have been with me. One time he had my truck to put new brakes in and he had it for 6 weeks.
Two weeks ago I was drving down the road and my engine exploded. I was terrified. I didn't know whether to pull over and bail or stop in the middle of the road, or just keep going. I made it to my daughters school, and I was in tears. I don't cry often, but I was just done, I couldn't take anymore. I almost wrecked when it exploded, and my 18 year old daughter had been driving it just 30 minutes prior. If it had been her she would have wrecked. I called the Brown Boys and Mike wouldn't come to the phone. I emptied my truck of my belongings out into my daughters car, left the doors unlocked and left the keys on the dash and prayed someone would just steal it.
I called my dad in AZ. He has footed the bill for all the repairs which have easily exceeded what I paid for the vehicle. He said "no more Brown Boys" and set me up with his brothers mechanic. This mechanic had my truck fixed in ONE DAY!! I was in shock, beyond shock. Then to hear what he found wasn't even alarming at this point, it was almost funny. The loud "BANG" was my exhaust falling off as the Brown Boys didn't bolt it on, the bolts were sitting in the battery tray. All my spark plugs were hanging out, and numerous other things not bolted down.
I came to work and my friend was telling me that the Brown Boys buy trucks from an auction in Utah. These trucks are bought brand new from salt mine companies in Utah, stripped of the bodies, and used (abused) in the salt mines until they have 80,000 miles on them. They are reassembled and sold at auction and they look great, like my truck. My truck looked "barely used" when I bought it, but I couldn't figure out why there was soo much sand in the carpets that I couldn't get out. So now this all starts to make sense. As I am getting sicker and sicker to my stomach, I purchase a Carfax report. It was purchased for auction from Fort Duchesne, UT in 2008 with 83,235 miles. What's disturbing is it's legally, they did nothing wrong. Unfortunately a lot of people are suffering from this greedy practice. Now I know CHECK CARFAX and no trucks from Utah!! read more
