I think the aesthetic is what's selling this place. I will say that the croissant was very good! The place is also adorable. It's just overpriced. The coffee wasn't flavorful. I got the pistachio latte and my friend got the specialty cold brew on the menu. Both were just not that good for the price. The pastries were cute, very flaky which was great. The filling just was jelly on one side and chocolate on the other. They also have indoor and outdoor seating a merchandise available for purchase. read more

This place was packed, with no tables available and there was a line out the door at 10am. Took me 25 mins in line to order. Of course right before I got to the front of the line, the last few of a few of the filled croissants were taken. Regardless, I ordered 5 and was convinced to get a 6th for the big brown box. The banana crème, everything and Zataar were delicious. The traditional and chocolate croissants were more puff pastry and on the plainer side. When I got my order it was in 3 smaller boxes since they had run out of the brown box and as I was standing there a fresh batch of the pistachio and coffee filled croissants came out. So of course I asked if I could add those to my order and was told no, I would have to go back in line for them. the brown bee cold brew and pistachio latte were tasty. Just would've been nice with such a large order to have been able to get a few more to try. Don't need to go back on a regular basis because of the line but will be back again to try some more at some point. read more

Genuinely shocked by all the wonderful reviews. My husband got the Brown Bee Cold Brew and had me take a sip because he was so shocked at the rancid flavor. it was the most disgusting coffee I've ever tried, it tasted sour? They also did not have any decaf options. In this day and age that seems crazy, i've never had an issue getting decaf anywhere else. As one of Providence's newer cafes, Brown Bee Coffee has certainly added some fierce competition to the mix. They are known for their specialty croissants (and will soon be debuting an expanded menu!), and these massive, flakey, buttery, tasty, creative, and delectable croissants are some of the best I've ever had. I personally think they are the best in the area. These croissants are certainly big enough to share, but you may find yourself hoarding every bite for yourself. I also LOVE that the staff offers some samples of breads or croissants while you wait in line to order; It's a nice touch. They have great lattes as well. The Bee Latte, which is made with honey, cardamom, and cayenne, is the perfect blend of sweet and spice, and the milk texture was excellent. I also tried a cortado, and it was a proper cortado with equal parts steamed milk and espresso. The décor and aesthetic of Brown Bee Coffee needs its own paragraph to describe how quaint, cozy, and cute the café is! As you enter the door, you are enveloped in a warm color palette of browns, tans, and creams. They have some plush bench seating with comfortable padded chairs across. There is also a communal table for customers to share. The arches in the middle of the space have become iconic and add to the rustic charm. Brown Bee's branding is truly on another level. Cups, napkins, plates, containers, they did it right. I have also purchased one of their T-shirts and it is very high quality. If I could live in this café, I would. Though, they did just announce limited seating time to 90 mins, so there goes that dream. But, in all seriousness, Brown Bee Coffee is a wonderful additional to Providence. It has become one of my staple cafes and I enjoy every trip. I highly recommend paying a visit and enjoying the full Brown Bee experience. read more

This was my second time visiting and for my birthday and it flopped a bit.. I came on a Sunday at about 10am, there wasn't a long line like there usually is on Saturday which was nice. the service from the employees was great too ! I asked to dine in ( my receipt said so as well ) but received my pastries in a to go box. I then waited about 10 minutes for my second drink to come out, turns out they forgot to make it. I was pretty disappointed with my visit but the employees were kind to fix up the issues ASAP though. read more

I've been trying to make it out to Brown Bee since it opened, and finally got a chance to a few days ago! I got the bee latte, and a strawberry circular croissant and a croissant that was similar to an everything bagel with cream cheese inside. The croissants were both delicious and rather filling! They had a perfect flaky crunch to them, since they weren't exactly like regular croissants. The bee latte was pretty good, but after about an hr, all the cayenne settled to the bottom and made it hard to drink. Next time, I would probably do without the cayenne. The inside of the cafe was super cute though, and I'd definitely stop by again! read more

The highlight of the cafe are the croissants. They are filled with decadent cream and the layers are flaky and buttery. There is serious croissant competition in Providence but this is a top contender. My favorite is the caffe latte, but I'm curious to try the savory croissants next time. I love the aesthetic and ambiance of this cafe/bakery. Everything is very cohesive and it feels like the exterior/interior, branding, pastries and coffee tell a complete story. The cafe is very busy which is a good sign and the menu Looks Good, and the Baked Items Look Good. Notice those are about the look. This feels like their main driver "insta baking" they also have a somewhat tacky count of their instagram follower count displayed. The Brown Bee is supposed to be coffee, milk, and honeycomb, not sure how that comes out to the same flavor as black coffee but ok. The French Onion Croissant was a face sized croissant with a drizzle of French onion. Extremely underwhelming. The chocolate Strawberry croissant fares better imitating a jelly donut with a core of chocolate and strawberry. Last was a glazed croissant. Which was good but hardly worth writing home about. Three baked goods and 2 coffees $40 the price and taste don't quite line up for me. A shorter version is only come here if you absolutely love croissant dough. read more

This place is worth the wait and does not disappoint. Even with a line out the door, the cue moves fairly quick and you're able to read through the menu that's posted on the window while you're outside. While we were waiting, someone from the staff came by and offered everyone slices of a fresh baguette - a nice touch! Once inside, there's so much to admire; the pour-over coffee lineup, the massive croissants out on the counter on display, the readily available water cups to quench your thirst, the chic lighting, the merchandise hanging in the corner, the dozen tables and matching chairs to get cozy in, AND lots of outlets to plug in to for a nice study-friendly environment. This place isn't just about the tasty beverages and pastries - it's the total, welcoming ambiance. We got there at 9:30am on a Saturday and luckily got a table after ordering. You can expect to pay about $10 for a beverage and treat. We stayed for about 1.5 hours and spent our time enjoying cappuccinos, doodling, and writing. Very cute little cafe, very small though, so it can feel a little cramped. The staff were friendly nothing out of the ordinary. I ordered a vanilla matcha and split some croissants with friends. I felt as if the pistachio croissant needed more flavor the filling was just sweet and the French onion toppings could have been distributed across better. They were both good nonetheless. Providence's newest coffee shop is an adorable addition to Benefit street with cozy vibes, comfortable seating, plenty of outlets, and functional wifi! I stopped in to grab a latte and a croissant, and both scratched the itch. The chocolate inside the pain au chocolate is delicious and rich, with nice crunch and flakiness in the pastry. Coffee was really good. We ordered an everything croissant and focaccia bread. We sat down and waited 15 minutes but didn't receive the food yet, so politely asked if it was being warmed or something and they said yes. After another 15 minutes (30 total) we went back up and asked if we could have the food. They said they forgot and we should have reminded them sooner (we did) and that they already gave away the last croissant. Frustrating to wait 30 minutes to and remind them just to have your order you paid for forgotten. I definitely won't be coming back here again that's for sure. Cute cafe located on Benefit Street. Easy enough to find street parking. Came mid afternoon on Presidents' Day and unfortunately they were out of their must try croissants and all other baked goods. The place was packed with every square inch occupied by patrons. We opted for iced pistachio lattes-there is only one size for the iced lattes. What a little hidden gem on the corner of Benefit Street! The interior is beautifully designed with soft neutral tones and shades of brown, perfectly reflecting the café's name, Brown Bee Café. The pistachio croissant is buttery and filled with a rich, delicious pistachio cream--it's my current favorite. The French onion soup-inspired pastry was also good, but I think it would taste much better if warmed up, but they don't have a toaster oven at the cafe. The plain and chocolate-filled croissants were excellent in texture, large, and very filling. I enjoyed a cup of flat white, which was fantastic! Parking can be a bit challenging if you're just stopping by for pastries and coffee, but there are plenty of spots one block down on Main Street. I suppose in her book I meed to wait an extra 10 minutes to get to her and asked. I asked her nicely several times, and she asked again. Again 100% ignored. Finally asked loud enough I was not to be ignored, she told me they only had the cookies left and no other baked goods. About the worst and most rude service I have ever seen.
