Upon bringing me the estimate for plumbing I asked did they install broilers. The plumbing and broiler estimate came to about 16,500. Which I was pleased with that price. After the install of the boiler one of the owners said the rest of the work would amount to 34,000. I told him he must be out of his mind. They give you a different price when they believe your insurance company will fork out that kind of money. I told them to take out the amount for the boiler install which was 6500 and write a check back to my insurance company. To date, I haven't received the check for my insurance company. I contacted Lasco when my 20+ year old water softener stopped working. Their repair person arrived…read moreand without touching the equipment, told me it would need to be replaced. He did a water test and then wrote up several quotes that started at over $6K and exceeded $10K on the high side. I explained (and he saw) that the house was already plumbed with a working bypass and drain line. I also told him that their quotes were much higher than all the research I had done on replacement units. He told me they were " a bit more because they are a 'larger company' ". He also charged me the standard $100 service fee - So I essentially paid them for a "sales" call! I ordered a 48K grain system with 10% cross-linked resin and a Fleck 5600 control head for $750.00 from an online plumbing supply store with great reviews. I then ordered about $50 worth of water lines and a few PVC fittings. In 30 minutes it was hooked up and working perfectly. I am all for buying local. But I cannot comprehend what Lasco could put in their resin or what type of controller upgrade they can offer that justifies a price $5,000 more than I was able to obtain. There would be, at most, one or two hours of time needed for installation. I would encourage anyone needing a water softener to check around before agreeing to pay such an outrageous amount from Lasco. It upsets me when I imagine my parents or other vulnerable people believing these guys and agreeing to these crazy prices.

This time, it was the kitchen sink faucet which started spraying all kinds of water from the underside faucet mounting whenever the water was turned on. I assumed the faucet was shot and would need to be replaced, so I called for a plumber. After calling 7 (seven!) plumbers and getting no response from 6 and 1 message that they could come out in about a week, I finally called Cascade Plumbing and they came out the very next morning. The plumber was a quiet old dude, but clean, competent and professional. He was also honest! Instead of up-charging me for a new faucet, he told me that the existing faucet might not have been installed properly (big surprise from Eastbrook.) He explained what was wrong and was able to fix it right then and there. No replacement was needed and the charge was minimal. This company exceeded my expectations. I will be calling Cascade if I need plumbing services in the future!
