First time, and I ordered the Eggs Benedict original. The Hollandaise sauce was good, just not enough of it! I asked for more, took a while and I had to ask again. The yolks were not runny as expected, somewhat soft boiled. Not very good. Loud, with small screaming children, it happens, but when there are two, headache time. Located on the site that was once the Blue Whale. Thought of trying this one out for Friday (8/23/24) brunch. This totally remodeled cafe is an eating establishment somewhere in the middle of a fast food model and a full service restaurant. One orders at the counter with the menu plastered behind the register....no prices (although to be fair, there may have been paper menus set off to the side with the prices printed). We had a party of three and sat at a booth after placing our order. Our order was delivered to our table. My sister-in-law ordered the Souvlaki. She said it was good. She had my brother finish off the fries and salad. My brother and I shared our sandwiches which allowed me to leave the following assessment.... My brother ordered a Daddy Melt. Looked OK and tasted like I would imagine a melt should. The sandwich was not dry and the burger was cooked medium. The ingredients did not overpower the burger. It was not too spicy given it had siracha aioli and jalapenos. I had the lamb burger. I could taste the lamb, but was disappointed that the burger was dry. The cumin lime aioli was not enough to make me like this burger. All three meals came with ample amount of fries and a side salad on the plate. The staff was incredible. Felt like we were waited on hand and foot. Water was constantly refilled. Had to tell them stop. My sister-in-law ordered a soda. The wait staff asked if she wanted a refill. I'm glade I included the tip when I paid. Was it worth the price? A bit pricey, but I might go back to check out the rest of the items on the menu. Went to the Brothers Cafe in San Mateo and loved it. Was hoping for the same experience here but maybe it's harder since it's so busy. Came on a Friday morning around 9:30 am and the place was busy which is great. The food was good comfort food. Nothing special but still good. (Sorry left my phone at home so no menus and I can't recall the names of what we had!). The reason for only 3 stars is because it was noisy (not their fault) and service is a bit slow in terms of bussing, coffee and water refills. Also, they really need to put in shades because our table got HOT. Feels like the place just needs some tweaks and then it can be a 4 star place. Will go back and try it again when they have shades put in. read more

Came in for lunch and was pleasantly surprised to find a nice airy cafe, tucked down a walkway off Broadway just past Trader Joe's Ordering is done from the big boards just inside the cafe entrance. Slightly odd as we suddenly realized there were no prices listed on the board. There were menus on the table behind us with prices. Once seated our drinks were bought right away. I was pleasantly surprised at the good cup of coffee. Fresh and no sour aftertaste Food was bought by a very nice waitress. My friend really liked his veggie burger, while my regular hamburger was juicy and flavorful. No pre-made factory patty - it had that uneven look around the edges that suggested hand pressed before going on the flat top grill. Both plates came with fries and mixed green salad - none of that bits of iceberg lettuce thrown together. The space had high ceilings which made it a bit noisy and May be tough if someone is hard of hearing. The waitress taking our plates told us their other restaurants were in South City and San Mateo which made me realize why the name seemed familiar - we'd eaten last year at the South City cafe. But we decided we much prefer the Millbrae cafe. Parking is easy to find on both Magnolia and Broadway. And the S City cafe is pretty busy and noisy. We'll be returning to try from their varied menu. read more

Highly anticipated and much appreciated!! Brothers was worth the wait! Exactly what Millbrae and the Downtown strip needed. High ceilings, open space. Cute and clean. Sweet booths plus outdoor seating- which is a must today. Friendly, happy servers. My friend and I enjoyed an early lunch. At 11 AM it was bustling and busy. Delicious looking items everywhere. Love they offer espresso drinks. Brothers offers beer on tap, too! We got the first tapped beer served here! Hazy IPA was fresh and perfect for outdoor dining on a sunny day. We both ordered salads. Well dressed veggies with good quality chicken. Fresh produce. Salads were better than other places serving similar. Will be back. This is definitely my new spot. We came here for a late lunch last Thursday afternoon, and the restaurant was decently full for a weekday at 1:30pm. Upon entering, there are blackboards hung on the wall with all the menu items broken down into categories, and you order at the front, receive a number, and bring it to a table. However, since we had two kids with us, we sat down first and we were brought physical menus, which I appreciated. There were so many good options that it was hard to choose! I knew the food would be good, since these are the same owners as Boulevard in Westlake, which I am a fan of. I have loved every pasta I've ordered there, so I ordered a pasta and my husband decided on a burger. Carbonara ($16.50) - mushrooms, pancetta, garlic, cream. All good things, how could you go wrong? It was creamy, tasty, and I ate the whole thing. I wasn't super hungry today, but next time I would add a protein (they have options for chicken, prawns, or salmon) for a more complete meal. Daddy Melt ($18.50) - SOB patty, grilled onions, fried jalapenos, cheddar & provolone, sriracha aioli, grilled sourdough. We ordered this on the recommendation of the owner Billy, and it was absolutely delicious. A great combination of wonderfully toasted sourdough, a well-seasoned juicy patty, and melted cheese. It came with an organic mixed green salad and fries. Oftentimes, accompaniments to a main entree are just standard, but these fries were crispy and perfect, and my husband finished the salad quickly, which doesn't happen often. I'd like to try more items on the menu, but I also really want to get this again! Swedish Pancakes - thin crepes with lingonberry butter. These tasted great and my kid was so excited to have pancakes as a dessert to top off the meal. The staff was very nice with just the right degree of attentiveness. They brought four cups of water, with two of them having a lid because...kids. I was grateful for that. The space is bright, clean, and inviting. And parking is not an issue as there is a spacious lot right out front. It's also right next to Trader Joe's/Safeway/Walgreens, so it's conveniently located to get in a grocery or errand run as well. This restaurant is a wonderful addition to Millbrae and I'm so glad we have another great dining option nearby. We will definitely be back! read more

My experience is with the new one that opened in Millbrae. Food: I tried their Chicken Fried Steak breakfast and I was very disappointed. The sauce was not what I was expecting. I will probably never go again or if I do, l try something else. Service is good. You walk in, order, they give you a number and the food is delivered to your table based on the number. I ordered a soft bacon, mushroom, and cheese omelet, but it looked like a chop suey. The eggs were not soft, and every other ingredient was smashed and chopped with them. I specially requested a soft omelet. You order food at the front counter and the food is delivered to your table. The interior design is nice and the place is clean. I'm not saying that the food is bad but I went there today after not being there for a while ordered my usual order and it was just mediocre nothing special. The lady at the register was very nice but when I tried to call and place my order over the phone. I don't know if it was a guy or a girl I tried to place my order and they were like do we have that well don't you know you work there anyways I'm not trying to be rude or anything. I had the basic 2 eggs scramble with hash browns and chicken apple sausages plus a side of house salad instead of toast. Brothers Cafe is perhaps the best cafe/restaurant on Planet Earth. This place is absolutely top notch, everything from burgers to scrambles to salads to salmon to steak is prepared with fresh ingredients and the service is nothing short of exemplary. The food is absolutely mouth watering I could wolf down like 5 meals here and spend north of hundreds of dollars and be here for hours like a buffet. On my deathbed, I will have the mushroom cheese steak as my last meal. Everything is outstanding there, but that meal in particular is beyond what I can describe in words and simply God-tier. Live like a king and eat like a king. The vibe is inviting and cozy and ropes you in for more especially if you live or work in Millbrae. This is the number one breakfast/brunch/lunch spot in the entire world, it is a bold claim, but if you go there and try for yourself, it will be obvious. Simply the best. read more

Waited forever for this place to open and damn does it ever hit the spot, an awesome welcome addition to Millbrae. It's an upper-scale diner with a huge menu of everything you'd possibly want to eat, casual and fast, but with fresh ingredients, pastas, breakfast stuff everything from scrambles and pancakes to sandwiches and pastas and salads with proteins. It has a terrific laid back vibe with friendly responsive service. We got their Greek scramble with scallions and parsley and feta with tiger shrimp ... with my beloved hash browns and toast. One portion is big enough for two people, and though I had my eye on their tuna melt with fries, I couldn't get it so that's my next hit. The seating on a Sunday early afternoon was zero wait time, though maybe that's because there was a street fair happening on the main drag. We also got coffee, which I didn't like, not because it was bad, just I don't like dark roasts and this we later learned was their Guatemalan been, so if you're into dark, you'll like it.This is everything that this town was missing, especially given we have only one other diner-like place here. I hope this does a banging business because I can see myself coming here by myself and bringing a book to read, ordering something delicious and kicking back. The prices are more than reasonable for the quality. Btw., though we didn't get the chance to try them, they have fresh queeezed juices, e.g. a spied a carrot-orange been plus fresh squeezed apple, etc. I'm already fantasizing about the apple on ice, Yum! I've been going to SSF location on Grand Ave for years and always enjoyed the food. We decided to try out the newest location in Millbrae. We ordered 3 meals: steak and fries was good, Blackstone egg's Benedict was OK, the grilled tomato was small and thin and hidden underneath the bacon and could have used more hollandaise sauce - I've had better, the French toast was made with brioche hamburger bun and the underside was a little burned, don't order as they said that's the bread they use, thankfully able to have pancakes instead which were good. Overall, the service was fine, had to ask for refill on coffee and water as it was a busy day. Will stick with SSF location - less busy and there's a nice breeze coming from the open French doors read more
