What a fantastic experience I had a Bjornson! I had set this appointment up rather last minute (for…read moreme), after having a Bjornson Aligote from my nearest wine store in Minneapolis. I liked it, so I emailed, asking if I could visit. My goodness, what a visit! Nancy (Sales Manager) was quick to accept my request, and Gino, who poured the wine, was not only oh-so-cute (in a unique way only us Old Heterosexual Ladies can appreciate) but more importantly, to this Old Lady, Oh So Knowledgeable! Gino not only grew up in Piedmonte Italy but also had recently passed his WSET test so our discussion was absolutely fantastic (I had passed WSET 2 and was self-studying; thus the trip to Oregon, to experience). He passed on insights from the higher certification and gave me really nice charts and graphs to help me understand "stuff." And so charming. Then Pattie Bjornson came out and sat with me a bit, talking with me about the history of the vineyards and winery. WOW. I just wish my brain had been bigger so I could have asked better questions. For someone who is studying wine as a retirement hobby, this was a stellar experience. For those of you who are not? There were other tables in the tasting room equally pleased, and buying just as much as wine to ship or take home as I was. Do not miss Bjornson if you're in this area. A++++ experience in a beautiful building with a beautiful deck!

Since I was…read morevisiting another winery about a mile away for an event they were having, I had to stop at Bjornson before that. And was I glad I did. They have a stellar selection of both reds and whites. I opted for their standard tasting, which just scratches the surface of the wines that are available from this great, boutique winery. Don't get me wrong, I love the big boys, too, but there is something extra special about going to a smaller winery and enjoying a fantastic wine in an atmosphere that is more intimate. It's like finding a hidden gem next to another gem! What a treat! I was served by Becky, who was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. When I left, I bought a bottle of wine, but since it's a boutique winery and I didn't know if they'd have this other bottle I wanted, I opted for both, which is rare for me (unless I need to purchase 2 bottles to waive the tasting fee).

We reserved our seating through their Concierge, Kathryn, who was incredibly helpful and welcoming to my family and me. Zach then guided us through the wine list and helped us select some fantastic wines to try. He was courteous, professional, and genuinely seemed to love what he does, which made the experience even more enjoyable. We tasted LaRue's Blanc de Blancs, LaRue's Brut Rosé, Stoller Reserve Chardonnay, and Stoller Reserve Pinot Noir. Every wine was delicious and beautifully vinified to showcase and complement each varietal. I enjoyed the wines so much that I actually signed up for the Legacy Wine Club! Overall, it was a truly memorable experience for my family and me. The combination of beautiful scenery, exceptional wines, and wonderful hospitality made this visit one to remember. I can't wait to plan my next visit from SoCal!

Thankfully, we made a Heritage Room reservation and were able to enjoy the outdoors under some umbrella shade. Two of us a wine tasting, 1 grabbed a glass of red, and the other was there for company and some N/A musings. We also had the charcuterie board and cookies, both of which were good overall. I absolutely adore this spot for having N/A options which on this day was an orange creamsicle inspired slush. Service was really accommodating...since I can be quite the slow sipper at times. They definitely did not make us feel rushed. This is such a picturesque spot and I couldn't help but adore the giant tree with the tire swing in the middle. People were absolutely trekking across the lawn to enjoy it. This is a rather family friendly winery and there were tons of families, a bridal shower, and just folks enjoying the day. High high points for an inclusive space. Check it out if you're looking for a cute winery to enjoy!

This was an odd experience. I had reserved a tasting with J'Aime a month or so ahead of time--so as…read morea visitor from the midwest, I had put it into my itinerary. The night before, I emailed to confirm--only to get, the next morning, a text from J'Aime saying that I had never followed through. We ended up talking on the phone, and this was so very weird for me because I was actually looking at the email I had sent while she was aggressively arguing that I hadn't sent it. As things developed, she conceded that she missed it (but didn't apologize for gaslighting me), and agreed--somewhat reluctantly--to meet me, as long as I could get there earlier. I got there as fast as I could, maybe 40 minutes ahead of schedule. Then, I was given a very fast tour where I was told to not ask questions, to not speak at all, to just listen to her "set piece." It's not that the "set piece" wasn't interesting--it was, in a way. But 1/3 of it was stuff I already knew, from traveling the area for a couple weeks, and 1/3 of it was stuff she presented so quickly--and clearly not wanting me to ask questions--that I couldn't fully grasp it, as I had wished. The other 1/3 was useful. At the winery itself, the wine was fine, I liked it. There was nothing so special that I felt the need to join a membership, but I did take a bottle of wine back to my Airbnb with me. And to J'Amie's credit, she did make sure that I was fully recompensated for both the tour and the tasting. This was a learning/studying trip for me. I'm a former professor; studying wine is my retirement hobby. To shut "students" down from asking questions is inimical to real learning, so I was very disappointed in this. This was one of two wineries in Oregon who insisted on forced listening, rather than engaging.

You feel like home when you visit. I've been here twice. The first time last year was extremely magical with fabulous service and a beautiful journey. Our second time (in 2026) service was a bit slow and our server seemed a bit put off and tired. However, by the end of our stay she warmed up and we felt more connected and comfortable. I really thought I wrote a review for this place before, but I just don't see it on here. I definitely recommend this place. 5 stars, cheers and sip! Epic patio views that are dog friendly abound here or you can get cozy by the fireplace inside. They host neighborhood events to support charities too. The weekend after our visit, they were planning a "pups and pinot" - meet and greet with neighboring dogs from a close animal shelter. I really wish this place was closer to Portland - Salem peeps got Lucky by having this open near their city off the beaten path. Definitely put this winery on your radar! At the recommendation of Michele from Triangle Wine Country Tours, we decided to visit Lonesome Rock Vineyard. Despite the limited number of Yelp reviews, all of which were positive, we trusted her advice--and we couldn't be happier that we did. A Quaint, Welcoming Atmosphere: Lonesome Rock stood out immediately for its smaller, intimate setting. Unlike larger, commercial wineries, it felt peaceful and uncrowded, giving us a sense of exclusivity and comfort. Upon arrival, Danny and Suzie, the owners, greeted us warmly. They had prepared a personalized flight sheet with our names, a beautifully set table, and delicious snacks--including freshly baked Gougeres from Suzie's oven. As a thoughtful touch, the recipe for these French cheese puffs was included on the back of the flight sheet, so we can't wait to try making them at home! Learning, Laughter, and Memorable Moments: Our tasting was not just about the wine--it was an engaging experience filled with laughter and learning. Danny and Suzie shared insights about their winemaking process and stories about the vineyard, making us feel like welcomed friends rather than just visitors. Unique Details and Beautiful Surroundings: One detail that caught my eye was the wax-sealed wine tops, reminiscent of a Maker's Mark bottle. Danny even has an Instagram video showing his waxing technique, adding a personal, artisan touch to each bottle. The October vineyard views were breathtaking, with autumn leaves painting the landscape in vibrant colors. It was the perfect backdrop for a relaxing afternoon. Standout Wines and Local Flavor: We enjoyed all the wines, but the 2023 Estate Pinot Noir was a particular favorite of mine. During our visit, Danny's nephews, Adam and Noah, arrived with a bag of freshly picked Chantrelle mushrooms--a delightful glimpse into the local lifestyle. I can only imagine how delicious those mushrooms were in that night's dinner! Friendly Company--Including the Dogs! The hospitality extended beyond the owners to their friendly dogs, who kept us company on the porch and added to the homey vibe. Spending two hours with Danny and Suzie felt more like catching up with old friends than attending a wine tasting. Final Thoughts: Don't Miss Lonesome Rock Vineyard. If you're looking for a unique, personal, and memorable wine tasting experience in Oregon, I highly recommend Lonesome Rock Vineyard. Danny and Suzie's warmth, the beautiful setting, and the exceptional wines make it a must-visit. Don't miss out on this hidden gem--you'll leave with wonderful memories and maybe even a new recipe to try!
