BSW is a great company to work with. They are knowledgeable, honest, hard-working, committed, have integrity and communicate well. They had great references including among flat-roof homeowners in the Brooklyn historic districts, like ourselves. I really liked that BSW would guarantee a level of solar production sufficient to match the business case in their proposal - that makes the decision virtually risk-free for the homeowner. BSW completed the system design and permitting process (including Landmarks approvals) faster than expected. Despite a couple of hiccups during installation (missing & incorrect parts and a problem with the monitoring system) I still rate them 5 stars because they were extremely diligent about identifying and fixing the issues, kept me fully informed as to what was happening, and got the system working when they said they would. Our system has now been operational close to 3 months during the shortest and coldest days of the year (Dec, Jan, Feb), and we've generated nearly all our electric usage during that time. I expect the solar panels will more than fully cover our usage once there is more daylight in spring & summer. I'm a very happy customer, and I recommend BSW without hesitation. read more

These folks are great - everything about the experience was absolutely top-notch! When we bought our house in Prospect-Lefferts Garden four years ago, I looked into going solar, but, was frankly super confused by all the different information I found on-line. The Brooklyn SolarWorks folks explained the entire solar process, including all the tax breaks and loans available. They handled the rebate paperwork, all the permitting (including the Landmarks Commission permit), the install, and all the post install inspections. They were always available to answer questions, and were always extremely pleasant to work with. I really can't say enough nice things about them. I had solar panels installed on my roof in December 2016. The first solar company that I called told me that you could not put solar panels on a flat roof -- not true. I called Brooklyn Solar Works and they told me that's basically all they do. They were extremely professional. They were busy, but responsive, and they did a great job handling everything from paperwork to installation. It was a terrific experience. Everyone who owns a brownstone or a building should put solar panels on their roofs. It makes a huge impact on fossil fuel consumption, and tax credits covered around 70% of the cost. The system they designed for me will pay for itself in around 5 years and is projected to save $50,000 over the next 25 years. There is really no good reason not to do this. read more

They study and check out your property, come up with creative solutions and execute it swiftly and professionally. Very happy with BSW, from start to finish. The team did a site visit, rendered a plan and then implemented quite well. The job was for a standard roof system on a brownstone, but the roof already had HVAC units and supporting beams, so not that easy. Hats off to Ana, Victoria and Joe the Electrician in particular.
