The cannolis the first trip were very fresh but they load up the cannoli with powdered sugar and chocolate syrup so it was disappointing to learn you can't ask for them to be fresh made without all the 'extra'. The first trip came to just under $100 though for the small pies and a cannoli. No drinks. Fast fwd to today, I was craving some pizza and my youngest wanted to get ice cream and I recalled they had a small gelato selection. I also figured I'd grab a couple of cannoli but I didn't recall them being $5.50 a piece!... it's been a hot min though but that was fine. Today, however, the cannoli shell was SO soft so I'm glad I decided to take a bite while waiting on the FUNGI pizza (which was phenomenal btw- delicious!!)... the cannoli tasted and was clearly old and as crazy as it sounds a little windexy. So I asked for replacement thinking for $12+ dessert I'm not sticking with a soggy dessert - the young man working was kind enough to offer to make new fresh ones for me including eliminating all the sugar powder and syrup. I thought that was nice. I do like the fungi pizza a lot and it's very tasty. Including the plain from first visit and the white pie. I think my issue with the restaurant is the pricing is incredibly high for pizza that doesn't always scream' best in the area' and it's not an 'Italian' business. They are from Turkey but they do a great job with the look and feel of Italy. But we're authentic Italians know what "buffalo mozz is" and what is in cannoli cream so while it's good tasting.. it's not exactly what we'd expect.

I have no basis of comparison with regards to quality or price compared to other places in the Wilmington area, but $24 for a simple pizza without toppings seemed a bit expensive. Both items were decent, but wouldn't compete with the quality of pizza ingredients I'm used to in the NJ/NY/PA area. The pizza was cooked well with a great undercarriage, albeit a bit oily, but the cheese, sauce, and crust didn't compare to the great pizza I'm spoiled with back home. That said, nothing was particularly bad, so grading on a regional curve, I'd rate Brooklyn Pizza Company a 3.5/5, which I'm happy to round up since all the employees were friendly, and it was a decent dinner overall.

The crust was much doughier than I expected, and I found myself wishing there was more sauce and more of the whole peeled tomatoes to balance everything out. The Italian sausage had good flavor, but the pizza as a whole felt a little too bread-heavy for my taste. That said, I don't want to judge the entire restaurant based on one pizza. Looking at the menu, they have a lot of different specialty pies, and it's very possible I just didn't order the one that best represents what they do. Overall, I'd give Gondolfo's Pizza 3/5 stars. The service was friendly and welcoming, but the Crostata didn't quite hit the mark for me. I would still recommend giving the restaurant a try, and I'd be interested in coming back to sample some of their other pizzas before making a final judgment.
