7/2/26: I stopped by Gondolfo's Pizza while I was in the area and decided to try their 18" Crostata, which comes with a provolone and mozzarella cheese base, crumbled Italian sausage, whole peeled tomatoes, garlic, Parmesan cheese, and fresh basil. The first thing I noticed was the friendly service. I was greeted as soon as I walked in, and the staff made me feel welcome while I waited for my order. As for the pizza, it just wasn't my favorite. The crust was much doughier than I expected, and I found myself wishing there was more sauce and more of the whole peeled tomatoes to balance everything out. The Italian sausage had good flavor, but the pizza as a whole felt a little too bread-heavy for my taste. That said, I don't want to judge the entire restaurant based on one pizza. Looking at the menu, they have a lot of different specialty pies, and it's very possible I just didn't order the one that best represents what they do. Overall, I'd give Gondolfo's Pizza 3/5 stars. The service was friendly and welcoming, but the Crostata didn't quite hit the mark for me. I would still recommend giving the restaurant a try, and I'd be interested in coming back to sample some of their other pizzas before making a final judgment. read more

Gandolfo's pizza is great.The sauce is sweet and plentiful, always just the right amount of cheese. The crust is crisp, but not doughy or limp, with just enough char to make it foldable without the end of the slice drooping. Service is fair and ambience is zero. I'm disappointed, I was really looking forward to a good pizza. I ordered a sausage and pepperoni pizza and half of it was missing sauce. Really..how hard is it to spread the saice?!?! The pieces that did have sauce were good but when half the pizza doesn't have sauce it makes the pizza inedible, so I feel ripped off. read more

The Calzone was good except too much crust on the fold over. The pizza was a pepperoni, sausage and ham. You couldn't taste the pepperoni, ham or sauce. Only the sausage. Very thin crust. The pizza was out 20 minutes before the Calzone. So it was pretty cold by the time the calzone came out. Wouldn't return. read more

Pretty bad pizza. Crust wasn't cooked all the way, it was still raw and doughy. Paid for toppings and got like 3 pieces of each. Look at the pics, do you even see any toppings?! Gondolfo's is my favorite pizza joint in the ILM/Wilmington area. I am a pizza connoisseur and have eaten at many pizza joints all over the world, but this joint is as good as you will find when it comes to authentic NY style pizza. I've eaten here over 5x and the service was great, the pizza is always fresh, and the quality is 2nd to none. The inside has a few seats. Their pricing is also right on point! If in the area, then you need to go to Gondolfo's! I HIGHLY recommend! read more

I NEVER write negative reviews but.....pizza is usually good. I ordered online and was given a 6:00 pickup time. I get there at 6:00. Man in front of me was waiting longer than me and finally went up and asked how much longer his pizza would be. The female counter woman brought it out of their "heating oven" . it had been sitting there for at least 25 minutes. He told me you better check. I then asked the young woman about my order. Same thing, my 2 calzones were just sitting there while I had been waiting for over 20 minutes. I told her I've been standing there for 20 minutes and she just shrugged her shoulders like "oh well.". Totally ridiculous experience. they need to figure out why multiple customers had to wait for over 20 minutes even though the order was ready. read more

Best pizza we've had yet in Leland. Caught a server or owner or whoever was at the counter on a bad day today at lunch: made us feel like we pissed her off while simply trying to order menu items at lunch. I don't care if they run out of bread, it happens. But rude service isn't the answer, especially with an attitude. We went elsewhere, which wasn't the plan. Food is food. Place is nice. This new restaurant is located in the Food Lion plaza, a few doors down from Food Lion. This is more to-go instead of sit down. There are only three small tables inside and it's a tight fit. I ordered a large (18") supreme pizza, Stromboli, and 2 cannolis to-go through the phone on their soft opening day. They said it would take 30 minutes and the food was ready on time when I arrived. Total cost was about $42. The supreme pizza had Pepperoni, Sausage, Mushrooms, Green Peppers & Onions. It was very good, had really good flavor. It was limp straight out of the oven, probably because all of the toppings were so heavy. But, after it cooled down, it held up better. The 18 inch size can feed maybe 3 to 4 people. The Stromboli was also good. You choose three fillings. I liked the marinara sauce that was provided on the side-it was a little tart, not sweet. Dough was very good, soft, good flavor. The cannolis were great. They had both a chocolate chip and a regular flavor. If I'm ever in the Leland area, this will be my to-go pizza place. read more

I was in the area so I decided to try this place out. The interior is tiny with three small tables, so I'm assuming they are a take-out place. At the counter were three partial pizzas that you can order by the slice. There wasn't much of a selection. One was with cheese and broccoli, another with different meats (that's what I selected); and the third looked like a basic margarita. I brought them home for my husband and I to eat. I crisped them up in the oven. We both thought it was good but there are other places that are better. In looking at their menu and comparing with a few other pizza places, this one is on the pricey side. If I'm in the area I may try a different slice or something else on the menu. read more

Our family is new to Leland, we noticed Gondolfo's was one of the few restaurants open(xmas eve). We were unaware that they stopped taking orders @ 5:15 pm Their hours said they were open until 8 pm. I wasnt aware of the time it was 5:36 pm, the young man behind the counter spoke up and said, well its past 5:30 very rudely." My family gets pizza on a regular basis 5 times a month and I buy it for church and work gatherings. I can tell you 100% Gondolfo's will never get my business because of that young man's response. I will go across the river to Wilmington instead. read more

Stopped at Gondolfo's Pizza for lunch today, and it was really good. Will definitely be a return customer. Just a heads up, though, if you get the Stromboli or a Calzone, it takes about 35 to 40 minutes to prep and to cook, so you might want to call ahead and place an order. If you have time to wait, the food is well worth it. The staff were all courteous and professional. I'm so glad we have a decent pizza place in leland now. I love this spot. This is the best pizza around. Whether I get a plain slice or one of the specialty slices or strombolis, I'm never disappointed. The owner is a good guy and you can often times catch him hand toss the dough like an old school NY place. It's a chill small place with a friendly atmosphere. I can only comment on the pizza which was excellent true Neapolitan style pizza thin crisp and baked perfectly, the Sicilian pizza not so much. true Sicilian although traditionally thick but still light and airy theirs was thick but very dense and bready not my cup of tea! This is a small place with some seating 3 tables for 2 and an odd large table set up for 4 but who ever sits across from you is a weird distance away more of a takeaway kind of vibe. It is refreshing to finally have a real pizza joint close by and to not have to deal with the attitude, poor quality and ridiculous prices of you know where on the other side of town. The staff has always been polite and friendly. If I have a complaint they close rather early 8 PM but stop taking orders at 7:30 which for pizza place is a little early. read more

I've eaten there since they opened. I've met the owner. Assuming it's still the same one. Things change so quickly around here. On to the food. Food has gone down hill, while the price has gone up. They were cheaper than the other guy, on the other side of town, but now he's at their old price, while they're even higher. I'd like to know, when pizza joints stopped leaving air pockets in their pies? I've eaten pies all up and down the coast, from coast to coast, and in all areas of NY and NJ. Ordered a sausage, pepper and onion Calzone today. Thought it was going to be as great as the pizza we had a few days ago. It was NOT! There was just about no sausage in it. It looked like 1/8" bits in a ricotta cheese mess. Onions were uncooked and peppers were undercooked. Worst Calzone we ever had. We kept saying "Where is the sausage"? Will never order that again. Quality ingredients and a desire to please is a formula for success. I tried an eggplant parmigiana hero and I loved it. Huge portion of very tasty eggplant on excellent bread. Sauce was very tasty, as was the cheese. Paulie, the owner, wants to be the best in town at excellent prices. Everyone who has had the pizza already feel it is the best in the area. Gondolfos is exactly what this area has been craving. Looks like we have a winner. So far this is what success tastes like. This is hands down my local pizza joint.
