    Turkey Sub (with lettuce??)
    Marsha M.

First timer...started off with Turkey Sub. Generous turkey. Sub bread was just okay. Not crusty or crunchy on outside to add texture so was just 'bready'. Lettuce ordered on sandwich was missing and Kraut ordered (dont judge) was more like creamy slaw. Not bad but interesting...maybe NY thing. Definitely not German kraut. Cheesecake brownie was literally cheesecake and soft creamy fudge. Delicious and super rich. Ordered to go. Unfortunately, the steering wheel on my car has more "personality" than the dude that handed me my bag. Good help defines a business and good bread defines a sandwich shop. These weren't great but filled my belly so not an entire loss.

A "BLT" is what they called it but dear god.

It's right next to a gas station and the name...well...let's just say I had questions. Usually it's the places that are a hole in the wall and dives that are the best, though. Let me just say...after I ordered my sandwich and saw that it came with pickles, I was already a happy camper before I tried the sandwich. That was probably around four years ago. Then I took a bite...and it was unlike any sandwich I'd ever had before. It did get a little messy, but what's good food without it being a little messy? Honestly, I'm kind of a mess so it probably had something to do with that. Four years later - nothing had changed. I love going there to get a sandwich when I'm in the area. I just wish they were open a little later. My top three picks are the Birdie, Greek, and Real Italian. You can't go wrong with any of them. I've also tried the Wally, Sand, Pitching, Flip, Original, and New Yorker (sometimes a family member will let me try some of their sandwich...and vice versa). All great. There is just something about my top three though. I love that they are made fresh to order, that you can customize them, that they have an option for gluten free bread, and unsweetened or sweet tea (their unsweetened tea is delicious). I usually get an extra pickle when I remember. They have decent selections for sides as well. Nothing like a good sandwich from Wedgies and a cool drink in the summer! I do wish for more drink and side options...but that's me being super nit-picky. Get yourself a sandwich from Wedgies! You won't be sorry. Sometimes, calling ahead or placing an order ahead is the best way to go because it's usually very busy. Give a nice smile to all the kind people there as well. They do work hard!

Yes, the bread is quite peculiar but it's delicious, and the stuff between the "slices" is equally good as well as plentiful. I went with the Real Italian and found it full of flavor. Now I'll need to make a few return trips and try some of the other selections.

First bite I got the hit of fresh cilantro and crunch from the peanuts, then straight into that crispy chicken--perfectly fried on the outside and still juicy inside. The sauce is sweet, tangy, a little sticky, and so good it should probably come with a warning label. The gluten-free bread held up like a champ under all that goodness, which is a small miracle considering how loaded this thing is. Fair warning: you're going to need extra napkins. It's messy, it's drippy, and it is 100% worth every saucy fingerprint. Service did take a hot minute, but we landed right at noon on a Saturday, so the place was slammed. Even with the wait, I'd order this sandwich again in a heartbeat. If you're anywhere near Moore County, do yourself a favor and get the General Tso Chicken at Roast. Your taste buds will thank you--your shirt might not, but that's what napkins are for.

The dishes are packed with flavor, clearly made with quality local ingredients, and the prices are surprisingly reasonable for the level of creativity coming out of the kitchen. We tried the French toast and the eggs plate -- both dishes were fresh and thoughtfully prepared, reminiscent of classic diner fare with a touch more care. The main drawback is the pricing. Staff was knowledgeable about the menu, and very patient because I know we took longer than we should have to make decisions. Restaurant offers what appeared to be scone dough for purchase, as well as other numerous items, such as local honey, and some apparel. I got the rise and pine, a traditional scone with jam and butter, and a vanilla latte. I asked about the jams they offered. Unfortunately, the one I ordered was not available so I got strawberry jam. I gotta say I was a little bit letdown because I assumed this was freshly made jam and not prepackaged store-bought. Either way it tasted fine. The downside to cold store-bought jam is it was impossible to spread on the scone. The scone was so brital that it literally fell apart in my hand. It almost had the consistency of a day old homemade biscuit. There was no salvaging this scone to eat properly I had to eat it in pieces. That aside it did have good flavor. I wonder what would it have tasted like if I could've actually put the jam and butter on it. Latte was good as well as the rise and pine breakfast scone. Seating was a bit different. Meaning that you felt like you were right on top of one another. Not very roomie. The most comfortable seat I must say is the one near the restroom which is a leather loveseat and a chair. I paid $23.73, which included a tip. In my opinion for what I got, this was too much, especially since the scone fell apart in my hand.
