I really enjoyed this welcoming yoga studio in Park Slope. I was running a little late to class and got there about two minutes before start time and the staff was super friendly and got me right in. I tried the Basics class with Deidra. As a beginner, I really loved this class. Deidra was knowledgeable, patient, and helpful to everyone in the class. There was plenty of space in the studio and the room was perfect temperature and lighting. I felt like I was learning a lot and challenging myself a good amount. I liked that there was plenty of space in the lobby area to put your shoes and hang your coats and even more cubby storage space in the studio room. The lobby also had some lounge space, tea, and a small store. It was a really nice vibe and I will definitely go back.

I've had the chance to practice at Bend & Bloom Yoga twice on my vacation and have had a great experience. They have a variety of class styles that include your basic flow, power vinyasa, restorative and more for all levels. I also saw a flier that they host yoga in the park during the summer on Thursdays, which sadly, I missed since the only Thursday I was in town was on the 4th of July (class canceled.) It's very easy to sign up online for classes and if you're in town for a week, they've got a great deal for 3 classes for $30. They've got a few rooms where class is held. The back studio that I practiced in was stocked with props, had lots of natural light with a skylight and some small windows and fits about 30 or so students. I attended a Wednesday 9:15 flow class that was 75 minutes and a Monday 12:30-1:30 flow. Both were awesome classes-I worked up a sweat and felt rejuvenated afterwards. I could see investing in a class package if I lived nearby. It's well worth it for the quality of classes, the welcoming staff and the calming atmosphere. Bonus is their spacious front area with cute yoga clothing and accessories for purchase, along with comfy benches to wait on before class. Great community space for practicing yoga.

Absolutely love this place! I've been attending classes here almost everyday since late August and…read moreit's been such a good experience. Everyone who works here is so kind and welcoming. Working out has always intimidated me and I was really nervous before my first class but every instructor I've interacted with has been incredibly patient and understanding. Every instructor makes an effort to ask the class if anyone has injuries, no one is bullied into doing more than they can handle, and modifications are always welcome! While the instructors are very understanding and don't try to pressure students to go over their limits, they're still extremely encouraging and do want you to try challenge yourself. I will say that Dr. Brown's Align 1:10 is one of Align's most challenging class. It's very fast-paced (the most fast-paced class I've taken at Align) and I think Dr. Brown's class can be intimidating for some who have never taken the class before but the intention is to keep your heart rate elevated so he means well! Since the fast-paced element of this class is very intentional, you'll have to switch through each exercise very quickly, which is challenging at first (I struggled through my first class). But if you keep attending his classes, it'll become second nature. The style of the class is like a bootcamp class so he will definitely push you to give it your all but if you absolutely can't do something, modifications are fine. I always modify at least 1-2 things in his class and it's never an issue, as long as you feel like it's still challenging and that your heart rate stays up. The Align 1:10 Xpress class is shorter and a bit slower, at least I think so. Both classes are great if you're up to it and trust me, you'll feel so accomplished when you get through it but it's definitely not a yoga class! The other thing that Align has really helped with is my flexibility and range of motion. I originally started coming to Align because I wanted to start weightlifting but I'm so inflexible and tight that I couldn't even squat with proper form. All the classes I've taken at Align have really helped with this issue so if you're experiencing something similar, this is the place for you! Honestly, every class I've take at Align has been so great. If you have injuries that limit your physical movement, if you just get intimidated by working out like myself or even if you're an experienced athlete, I would highly recommend coming to Align! They have a student trial period, which is great because you can take as many classes as you want for a week for only $20 I think.

From sweating buckets in vinyasa to revelations in my postures in align ground to chillin' and meditating in restorative (which I fondly refer to as adult nap time), I find myself feeling transformed as I pour a complimentary tea before heading out for the rest of my day. Also, I have to say I really appreciate that many of Align's top instructors are black women. These teachers are some of the best I've encountered in over a decade of practice in NYC and other countries. Bravo to Align for highlighting an underrepresented group's fierce and fantastic ability to teach yoga.

Hi YTB, I wanted to…read moreshare some feedback about the 6:30p class CLASSIC 26+2 HOT 90 on Tuesday, Nov. 11 led by Caro Lokah. I could see that the studio thermostat was reading 117°F since my mat was positioned in the back corner. Would you say that's an acceptable temperature? Every website I've checked says that temperature is too high for hot yoga, but maybe I'm wrong or missing something. About halfway through the class (45 minutes in), I started feeling too hot and overheated. I was concerned for my well-being and uncomfortably hot. I quietly let Caro know I was too hot when she was nearby me. So I was preparing to leave the class early, but Caro pressured me to stay. This also made me feel more uncomfortable and embarrassed. I've attended hot yoga classes before and even at your studio, but I learned in Caro's class that 117°F is well beyond my tolerance level and a health-risk, in general. I understand that hot yoga is meant to be challenging, but this level of heat felt unsafe. I wanted to make you aware, as I'm concerned that such high temperatures and Caro's response to my situation could pose a risk to your students' health. Could you please confirm if this was intentional and Caro's response to my situation follows the guidelines of Yoga Tribe Brooklyn? Up until that class, I was really enjoying YTB.  Thank you for looking into this and responding. Tracy P.S. I tried emailing YTB, but there is no email listed on your site. I tried to DM YTB on Instagram, but it says "they don't allow new message requests from everyone." I sent a LinkedIn DM on Nov. 15, but no one replied.

The sessions are long, with some lasting up to two hours, and the teachers are extremely knowledgeable, kind and responsive. The studio has the hottest rooms, which is perfect for hot yoga. I also want to mention that some of the two-star reviews are really unfair. Eight years ago, I wrote a review of Tangerine that started out with me relating how I'm not a yoga…read moreguy. And I wasn't. Well, to update you (and my review), I'm still not. But I'm trying to be! Why, you ask? Pretty nosy of you, but I'll bite. My reasons are threefold: 1. I no longer play soccer because of physical and temporal limitations. Since that was essentially my only form of exercise, I needed to pick something else up regularly. 2. Yoga seems to be good for mind and body. That's a win. 3. Most importantly, I came out of the pandemic with a manbun (turns out I really like not getting my hair cut). As such, I feel like people assume I do yoga already, so I might as well actually get into it. What's a little disappointing is that even after eight years of doing yoga almost once every four years (up until last month), I am still a fairly hopeless beginner. I'm still wildly inflexible, and still not that bright. But whereas I used to like Tangerine, now I love Tangerine. Regular visits (I'm trying for twice a week lately) have reinforced what a nice community it is. The staff is great (friendly, welcoming, sweet). The space is great (clean, comfortable, well-laid out). The cute puppy that is occasionally here is the best. And the instructors are wonderful. I've only had a few of them because my schedule/children limit the times I can come in, but the ones I've had are all funny, cool, and badass. Ariel, Liz, Abby, whoever else I'm forgetting. They make me feel comfortable, they make me laugh, they pick good music, they help me get better, and they never judge me (out loud) for not knowing what I'm doing. On occasion, they will even use their hands (only if you're comfortable with it) to show me how to improve, which is extremely helpful. I can understand how touching me under even the best circumstances is completely repugnant (something my wife doesn't even like to do), and they do it while I'm a disgusting, sweaty mess. That's dedication. Most of the classes are for "All Levels" which means they have to cater to both horrible beginners (me) and insanely advanced folks (that guy that "warms up" by doing impossible head/handstands, and weird contortions that would tear my back permanently for all time).* And they do it well, for the most part. I realize this is probably just me, but the biggest problem I've encountered is that sometimes the instruction moves too quickly for me. I literally don't speak the language yet (Sanskrit I think?), and I'm still trying to process what I'm being told to do when everyone else is four moves ahead. I'm getting the hang of it, but it's slow going, what with my tiny brain and all. All that said, I'm down with this. Maybe it's because I now have children that I need to get away from, but if you know me, the fact that I'm legitimately enjoying a "workout class" and coming in regularly is completely out of character and downright shocking, really. It's truly a testament to Tangerine's hospitality. I love how nice everyone is. I love how I feel better about everything after I go. I love that they provide a mat and a towel that I will inevitably soak all the way through for the class, and sometimes a cold towel for afterward that feels as good anything that exists in life. I love that I'm enjoying something that will probably improve the quality and extend the quantity of my life.** Thanks, Tangerine. ____________ *I tend to warmup by lying on the ground, because it's hot in there, and moving is a lot. **Previously all the things I enjoy only occasionally improve the quality, and are often serious detriments to the quantity.
