Even with a 20 min delivery trip the food was so good. I highly recommend going for the house special menu. We got the Tea Smoked Duck, Spicy Crispy Fish, Ma Po Tofu and Tasty Flounder Fillet - the spice was strong but so flavorful and not overpowering. The cold lightly pickled cucumbers are a great fresh counterbalance to the warming spice. Highly recommend - oh and the kids ordered regular standard Chinese dishes like General Tso and chicken and broccoli and loved them as well.

Before going to the restaurant, I've been craving a nice Braised Beef noodle soup and they didn't disappoint! Such great flavors and great portion for the price ($13/bowl). The beef was perfectly braised and ripped apart tenderly . The broth was delicious and on point . Definitely satisfied my craving and exceeded my expectations! Waitstaff was great and attentive, filling up our tea without even asking. Service was quick and efficient. Highly recommend this authentic restaurant! They charge a 3% surcharge for credit cards to be sure to bring cash if you want to avoid the fee. Plenty of parking in the Plaza.

6/8/26 (Update) Hunan Taste is consistently good!…read more Myself and two friends came here on a weeknight. The restaurant is a BYOB. Indoor and (weather permitting) outdoor seating here. We shared platters of Mongolian beef, Grand Marnier chicken and Grand Marnier shrimp. The food is always very appetizing and plentiful. Service was good this evening. However, service can be off on weekends. Always best to make reservations. Even more so on weekends. Takeout is available from Hunan Taste. The restaurant has a small private parking lot. In addition, you can always park in the next door Acme parking lot.

I recently went back to Hunan Taste for the first time in several years, and, sadly, my experience…read morewas not as enjoyable. The restaurant's dining room was still spacious and nicely adorned, and they even had a lovely outdoor patio, though it overlooked an Acme parking lot. Our server was a delight and completely went above and beyond for us. The food, however, was mediocre. The Pork Soup Dumplings were our favorite item, as their broth and meat were extremely flavorful. However, about two of the six had holes in them, so some of the soup had escaped before they were even removed from their bamboo steamer. The Spicy Chicken Dumplings came in a generous portion of ten, but the fiery poultry inside had a strong "chicken" flavor, if that makes sense. Lastly, we had the Chicken Chow Fun, which was extremely bland and full of gummy noodles. That chicken was tender and had a better flavor, though. I just looked back at my last review to see that we had ordered the same noodle dish previously, and, while it similarly had very little sauce on it, the plate had been much more enticing back then. I also saw a bunch of gnats flying around near our table, which was not appetizing, but in fairness, it was a very hot evening. Despite our mixed experience, the dishes being delivered to neighboring tables all looked amazing. I would like to think it was just an off-night and would be willing to give the place another shot.

This place is definitely worth a visit. The udon had a nice chew, the beef was tender, and the bok choy still had a bit of crunch, which I really enjoyed. The scallion pancake was soft on the inside with a nice crispy texture, and the sauce paired really well with the dish. The pepper steak was another highlight--it wasn't overcooked, and the meat was tender with a slightly crispy exterior. The flavors really popped with every bite! The dumplings were just okay in my opinion, and the plum tea was a little too sweet for my taste. The restaurant itself is very spacious, with a nice and inviting interior. I also thought the call button at the table was a convenient touch--it made it easy to get the staff's attention when we were ready to order. Overall, we had a great experience and are happy we finally stopped in after passing by this place for so long!

Veggie Heaven is a gem for anyone craving classic Chinese dishes with a fully vegan twist. The menu…read moredoes an impressive job recreating traditional favorites--everything from General Tso's "chicken" to dumplings and lo mein--without sacrificing flavor or texture. Even as someone who isn't strictly vegan, it's easy to appreciate how well they execute these plant-based versions. The variety is a huge plus, and it's clear a lot of thought goes into balancing taste and authenticity. Some dishes truly stand out and could easily rival their non-vegan counterparts, which makes it a fun and satisfying experience whether you're plant-based or just exploring. That said, while most items hit the mark, a few dishes can lean a bit heavy or slightly one-note in flavor. Nothing that ruins the meal, but enough to keep it just shy of a perfect score. Overall, Veggie Heaven is a go-to spot in Montclair for delicious, creative vegan Chinese food that proves you don't need meat to enjoy the classics.

This eatery comes up in conversation, so I decide to check it out, especially due to a curiosity…read morebefore the conversation about the possibility of Vegan Rib Tips existing. During my visit, I experience good customer service; employees are kind and helpful with navigating the menu. Employees may refer to Rib Tips as Spare Ribs. The flavor, in my opinion, between the Vegan and Non-Vegan Rib Tips, are the same. There is no bone or cartilage in the Vegan Rib Tips though the harder texture (of bone/cartilage) is possible to attain if one eats the meal at a latter time (without reheating though without refrigerating). The Vegan Rib Tips are so delicious; more sweet than savory, chewy though not gum, and offering a wonderfully satisfying flavor. The Calamari is so good; more savory than sweet, tastes like Non-Vegan Calamari more so in the aftertaste though like Calamari (87%) and Shrimp (13%) in the beginning ànd middle taste, the crisp is light, not heavy on my stomach, what a wonderfully satisfying combination. The Mixed Vegetable Soup is like Hot Vegetable-Infused Water, very soothing to sip within bites of the Calamari and Rib Tips. The Mixed Vegetable Soup is like a tea of the meal, good at any time warm. I find the meal so good, I intentionally save about half to eat with a dinner portion of home cooking. Good Vibes. The establishment accepts different forms of payments. The establishment has a variety of seating options.
