Almost nixed the place given the 3.5 average rating, but my friend and I thought we'd give it a chance given that several review writers on this page said they couldn't fathom how this place didn't have 5 stars. Well, after coming here myself, I can. Is the sushi bad? No. In a nutshell it's... fine. If you are a sushi officianado, skip this. Simple. You will be disappointed. But if you're easy going with sushi and aren't too concerned with quality, then you'll be ok with this place. I will say, the wagyu burger was very good, definitely a sleeper, I'd recommend. But that's where the good part ended for me. I was so pleasantly surprised to find out not only does this place offer a massive (non-sushi) menu, but it's absolutely fabulous! I recently got to enjoy dinner here, but as a non-sushi eater realized I wish I would've came sooner! The ambiance was such a good vibe, and our server Marissa was simply excellent. I've been to Sushi Lounge and it's my favorite sushi place in the area. In all of the times I've been here, I've never sat outside! This was my first and definitely not the last. They have a cute setup on the side of the building with a full bar, DJ and plenty of seating. As always the food and drinks were on point. Sushi Lounge is usually a good spot for last minute plans for a some apps and drinks. The place is nice casual. The crowd varies. I usually don't have issues when I go, but this time around the roll (naurato) was extremely "fishy". I always order this roll and it's usually good but this time the fish tasted bad & I had to send it back. The staff seem to be changing because there were some new faces behind the bar. I was kind of shocked that I got up to go speak to someone and the bartender (not even the one I was dealing with) came up to me rudely saying she needed my card because I can't leave the bar area (when I literally was at the table behind the actual bar) without it when no2 asked me for a card prior. I had no issues with that, but there was no need to be rude about it and speak to me as if I was going to skip out on my bill. When I closed out my tab I noticed they overcharged me and never took off the roll that was sent back and for an additional drink. She had to go back and adjust it. Maybe it was an off night for the bartenders but that's was a poor experience that I'm not used to there. read more

The wait staff is really nice and helped pick a few opts. We ordered a few apps which were good. Seaweed salad was good. The tuna tartar was very good I liked that a lot. We also ordered crispy rice which is always my fav. The beef wonton soup I wasn't a fan of, it was way too smoky I didn't like the flavor. The rolls we ordered were good. Rock n rolla was my fav. That was really good. Wasn't much of a fan of the jalapeño salmon, or the love triangle though. The love triangle tasted super fishy. I think the other one was the crunch and munch. That was good. I came here with my husband for a quick late lunch on a Sunday afternoon. Place was pretty empty because it was in between lunch & dinner but totally fine with us. We got seated in a booth and ordered edamame and the crab dim sum for appetizers. Husband wanted the steak tartare - not my favorite but this one was done nicely with the quail egg. The waitress was very knowledgeable about the menu and was able to make recommendations based on feedback. Very attentive and pleasant, the service really made the experience. The food was unfortunately not as strong in comparison. Lot of variety on the menu, but the quality did not match the expectations. Ok I really wanted to like the food but here's what happened We ordered the Gyoza and Calamari/Shrimp as apps, the Gyoza seemed to be fresh the fried calamari/shrimp were frozen and tasteless We all ordered sushi I ordered 2 handrolls one was eel and cucumber the other was salmon and avocado which the waitress corrected me and called it an Alaska roll. An Alaska roll is a California roll topped with salmon or its smoked salmon and avocados. Neither of these are what I wanted or recieved. What I got was horrible! They let the Temaki sit so they were soggy and the Nori was disintegrating in my hand. Then I ordered a quail egg on top of Masago- this was disgusting as they didn't yolk the quail egg. (Separating the egg) Then insult to injury they put someone else's sushi on my plate and did nothing to correct it. The service wasn't bad, pretty sure it was Danielle from Whippany serving us. My friends have been trying to get me to go here for years but I always through it a "scene" so I figured the food would be garbage, the drinks watered down and the service rude... well I was VERY wrong on all three! The outside area is beautiful, very Asian vibes but not tacky or overdone. Classy is definitely the word ! The drinks were amazing... I wasn't sure what to expect from the white sangria but I was blown away ! And the price for a glass was standard at $10 but it's more of a value to just get a pitcher at $30! The birds of paradise is my new favorite and I loved the coconut shrimp roll, it wasn't overly sweet so it just gave a nice tropical twist! First let me state, the service was solid and friendly, atmosphere was young and vibrant, with pulsing music. The drinks were very expensive and weak.
