This has been my go to place to eat in Roxboro since moving to town several months ago. That is until today. I ordered a chicken wrap that on the menu clearly states it has chicken, cheese, lettuce and tomato. I requested the wrap without lettuce or tomato. When I received the wrap it had onions on it. When I pointed that out to the server she argued that the menu states onion at which point I politely told her she was incorrect. She shrugged and walked away to get our check together. When she came back she agreed that nowhere under this item on the menu does it state onions and added how she kindly took $1 off my meal for the mix up. I have never had this type of experience at a restaurant. The kitchen clearly made the food wrong and I did not eat one bite of my sandwich. Not only did you argue with me on what was stated on the menu, you did not offer to fix the sandwich, replace it with a different sandwich, or do anything other than to give me $1 off. We will be taking our business elsewhere from now on. Only giving 2 stars because up until this point we had wonderful experiences. read more

Ate with a large group today for a birthday party. What a disappointment. The food was very slow arriving. I ordered a well done cheese burger with pepperjack cheese. The cheese was actually cheddar cheese with paprika sprinkled on it. In spots it was so hot I couldn't eat eat. I went here with my parents while in town visiting. I was very disappointed. The buffalo "chicken" dip had very little chicken at all. It was mostly a soup of vinegar and butter and pepper. The pita bread with the dip was for some reason heated by frying and very greasy. The "steak" sandwich was more like a slice of roast beef and the meat was barely warm, the bun cheap and crusty. Typical yankee, over prepared, over seasoned food. Just not very tasty at all. Some things should remain simple, I got a sandwitch, my 9 year old has made me a better sandwitch. Over prepared example, its cole slaw, treat it as such. Adding a million different things to a simple food does not make it taste better. For me, Id choose a hardees big bag over this place 8 days out of 7 EDIT: IF you like fancy, over prepared, tight pants type food, this is definatly the place to go in roxboro. My husband and I had just moved to the area and decided to eat out at Brookland Eats. The hostess lead us to a dining room on the right side of the restaurant. The dining room was very crowded . I could not hear my husband talking to me . I asked my waitress if we could sit in the other dining room and she said no , they had to fill up this dining room first . I asked the lady bartender if my husband and I could sit at the bar ? She said no they were reserved . We sat there in the loud dining room and was served some other guest order. The waitress apologized and 25 min later we got ours . You could tell it had been sitting under a heat lamp or in the window for awhile . It was terrible . Two hours later and trying to get through our dinner(dried out) we noticed the bar was still empty . I feel the bartender just didn't want anyone sitting there except her daily evening customers. She was very cold and rude We have never been back there or will we ever go back there again read more

The staff were helpful, there was a great drinks selection (including a very nice locally-brewed IPA) & menu. We had burgers - homemade & very tasty. This will definitely be my last time eating here. To start off, when ordering we wanted to make some slight changes, for instance switching our salad for a side or swapping out a vegetable for something else we served, but it was a no to both. Not very accommodating. When I (20 year old small girl) asked to just look at the kids menu I wasn't even allowed to, even when I said I'm fine with an up charge but I just can't eat big portions they still refused. So I just ordered some chicken tenders. Personally not a fan of them. Just not my flavor of food and they're really not very accommodating. Won't be returning. read more

The chips that come with the catfish 'n chips are thick-cut, house-made potato chips. The slaw wasn't my favorite (mayo and cabbage--I prefer a vinegar-y slaw), but everything else was magnificent. They served up the best sweet potato fry I've ever had, and my partner had a properly medium-rare burger. The catfish was perfect, crispy and flaky and not at all greasy. No joke, bar none the best restaurant in Roxboro. Some of the entrees are on the upscale end, price wise, but absolutely very reasonable for the quality of food, and the burgers are a great deal. They buy from local farmers, too! Our waitress was a treat, and had great recommendations. This is not fast food, so plan to come enjoy your meal and give it the time it deserves. Again, easily the best quality food in town. Just wish we found it sooner, this will be our go-to "nice dinner" place from now on. read more

The food was excellent (my friend had the she crab soup and I had the blackened catfish fish tacos) and the staff very friendly. We went for breakfast and it was the worst breakfast we have ever had. While the pancakes were good, the omelette my husband ordered was dry and not flavorful. I ordered the biscuits with sausage and gravy with 2 eggs -- instead if the 3 small biscuits described on the menu, they served 1 large tasteless, very dry biscuit with a small amount of gravy with sausage crumbled up in it. I asked for the eggs to be over medium and they were hard and not good -- the whole thing looked awful and tasted the same. For our sides, my husband got the breakfast potatoes which had a strange flavor and I got the cheese grits which had a hard crust. And to add insult to injury, nothing was hot including the coffee. We came through town after a long day of driving, checked in at the Hampton and then drove down to Brookland Eats for dinner. We had two appetizers, the fried green tomatoes and the stuffed mushrooms. Delicious! My husband ordered the Cuban and I ordered a Cobb salad. We both liked our meals very much. This is one of the best places in the triangle area. It's too bad it's so far out. Nothing fancy, just food made the right way. Service is always friendly. Great specials. Huge and delicious salads. Try the sweet potato poutine its spicy and sweet and delicious! Steak also very tasty. Usually packed on Friday nights. Have not yet tried their brunch. I find the negative reviews puzzling. Have had lunch here 6-8 times and never a bad meal. A recent lunch was one of my best meals in a long time---perfectly grilled shrimp is not common in my experience, but this one was. Sides way above average too. I have also noticed many Black people eating there very comfortably so find the racism accusation strange. Service might not be perfect, but never a problem. read more

This is a small restaurant with great food off the beaten path. I love the atmosphere it's in a old building with lots of exposed brick and great artwork and photos. I have been here many times and the food is consistently good. Only thing I've ever had bad here was the Caesar salad a bit too fishy for me. Buffalo chicken dip is amazing and specials are always yummy. Definitely not a place to miss. read more

This place is fabulous! Ample parking, great food, We had the buffalo chicken sandwich and bacon burger with homemade chips(uh-maz-ing dipped in Ranch) great atmosphere... It has a vintage warehouse feel with the exposed brick and what seems like original flooring. The service was excellent, and she was very attentive and remembered details on our Togo order we placed as we left after our meal. The chef even came out and addressed every table and asked how everything was and if we enjoyed our dinner. Though I would have liked if they had a New Zeland Marlborough Co Sauvignon Blanc, the Chilean Sauvignon Blanc was suprisingly good! Will definitely go back when in the area... First visit. Had Cobb salad and better half had hamburger with sweet potato fries. Very good. Portions were very healthy size. Waitress was very attentive and quick. 100% Health Department rating.
