I had to travel to Roxboro for work and needed to grab dinner. I found that the city doesn't not have a lot of options. This place was the only resturant only 8pm. You could tell this was the "nice" place to eat in the area. It was not fancy, but you saw birthday and business dinner parties going on. The atmosphere was very warm and inviting and the staff was super friendly. Now, I know people have their option of the best chicken sandwich. If ypu are anywhere near here, please compare your pick against this sandwich. First, look at the size of that chicken. It was literally hanging off the bun. Second, it was cooked perfectly. I've eaten here twice now but this last visit really hit the mark. The staff is always friendly and helpful with the menu and recommendations loved by the locals. Donna Jade was our server and was top notch. I got the fish and it was quite good well seasoned and delicious. The prices are very reasonable and I will visit again to be sure. Plus they did have a bottle Of Tabasco sauce on hand as mine was left in the car. I put it on just about everything. We love coming here and getting the crispy pork belly appetizer. He got the fried pork chops which were cooked to perfection and the mashed potatoes. I got their pan seared crab cake with butternut squash risotto and crispy brussel sprouts. The crab cake was full of crab meat with little filler the risotto was creamy with a slight sweetness from the butternut squash and the brussel sprouts were very crispy. I would say the brussel sprouts would have been out of this world if they had some sort of balsamic glaze on them. The outdoor seating is clean and comfortable. And the servers are friendly and helpful. All in all every experience we've had there has been great! read more

My husband and one of his work friends have been meeting at Brookland Eats for lunch at least once a month for a year, and I thought they were nuts because the restaurant is at least a 90 minute drive for each of them. And then they invited me to join them this weekend. Now I get it! Good grief, the homemade hush puppies alone were enough to make me a raving fan! Coupled with an excellent steak sandwich with fried onions and sweet potato fries, Brookland Eats may be my new favorite restaurant. First off my husband and I have been wanting to try this place for a long time. The building looked pretty cool from the outside, refurbished older building. Parking is pretty tight, not a lot. Once inside we were promptly greeted and sat down at a table. Our waitress basically followed us to our table and was TOP notch, hint why the only 1 star. Let's get to the food. We ordered the hush puppies appetizer which was suppose to have cheddar and jalapeño in them, well we didn't see any of that.... They tasted extremely bland and dry. Not a good choice. On to the meal, my husband got the chicken Alfredo which he stated was very bland and no seasoning. The portion was very pitiful for the price. I got a solecism which was prime rib, bake potato, veggies, cake with a salad. The salad was good and very tasty. The prime rib was tasteless and chewy, worse prime rib I've ever had, I didn't even eat but maybe half of it, the tater was maybe warm at best, the butter wouldn't even melt it was cool. Veggies were okay. Everything was really off here with taste, hot and fresh. Our excitement was so disappointing and most definitely will not come back and do not recommend this place at all. We have been coming to Brookland Eats for a few years now. The food has always been good, not exceptional but good. Their new chef has made it better. The crab stuffed mushrooms and pimento cheese hushpuppies tonight were amazing. The 2 stars is mostly about their 4% convenience fee for all non-cash payments. We paid with our debit card! Very disappointed in the service. Not with the waitress who did her best with little to no support of the kitchen or other staff. Our salads were delivered in the middle of the appetizers and our entrees were delivered in the middle of our salads. It was evident the kitchen rushed the food out so they could sit at the bar with the manager and enjoy their meal while ours was ruined. Stopped in for lunch. Had a delicious pork lion wrapped bacon with rice pilaf covered in apple chutney. I wasn't even hungry but ate every bite. It is a quaint little place with an industrial feel in the dining room. The walls are decorated with interesting photos of the coast and festival posters. It's well lit but not bright in the dining room. The country music playing in the dining room was nice. When I walked in the place was packed but it quickly cleared out after 1:00 pm. The service was good. The refills were on time and the food came out hot and quick. I recommend it to anyone. Save room for dessert! read more
