My request: Either raise your prices to cover credit card fees, or give guests a 3% cash discount. Amazing food! Ed is a phenomenal chef!!!…read more My partner ordered an amazing seafood pasta. The sauce was excellent! I wanted to take his plate! LOL. My meal, the Charleston Crab Cakes, was really good too (I asked that they put the creamed corn on the side -- the crab cakes will come on top of the creamed corn if you don't make a special request). But when (not if) we return, I will be ordering the seafood pasta for sure because it was that good! A friend recommended the pork chops and the burgers. The ambience is quaint and the indoor dining space is very small and cozy. There was a bit of a wait when we arrived. I recommend making a reservation if you don't want to dine outdoors. It was January so too cold for us to eat outdoors because there is no heating and the overhead fans were on! Also, please bring a little patience for parking because this restaurant is in an area of downtown with limited parking.

Much like all of the reviews before me say, do not let the unassuming interior and exterior fool you, this spot has some delicious food. It was a hot September day, so we grabbed some chips & salsa, chips & guac, and a diet coke to cool off. They also have Mexican coke in the bottle, which is a nice treat. The guac was so fresh and flavored perfectly, I had to remind myself that I was sharing with another person so that I would not eat it all. Moving onto our entrees, I was really torn because the burgers look SO GOOD but I was really in the mood for tacos. I got an order of the shrimp tacos and my colleague got the burger that comes with chorizo on it. He raved about the burger so if this interests you, I think it is a good choice. His order also came with house made chips, which are always delicious. My tacos were fresh and had a crema on them. I thoroughly enjoyed. This is a great spot to stop in if you're nearby. Love supporting local like this!

The pretty young lady taking orders and money was very patient and her customer service was top tier! I order the Duke Chili Burger with crispy fries & a big slice of apple pie - and when I tell you, this burger is HUGE! I was able up cut on half and eat on for 2 meals. Next time, I'm gonna ask of I can get the hamburger bun on the side, so it doesn't become soggy. I got cheese, chili, onions, mustard with slaw on the side for my burger. It took about 15 minutes for me to get my order, because everything is cooked to order. The cost was $22.05, and it was WELL WORTH EVERY PENNY. The only down side or con I have for Big Bob's is the flies. I despise flies and there were quite a few. Next time I'll call ahead!

Everyone working here is exceptional and friendly too. The pizza uses a chewy dough that pairs nicely with the sauce and is the perfect canvas for any desired toppings. Despite the busy lunch crowd, we were seated immediately, and service was fast, friendly, and very much in line with that classic Southern hospitality vibe. Unfortunately, the food didn't really deliver. Portions felt small for the price, and the flavors were pretty underwhelming. I ordered the quarter-pound brisket with fried okra and mac and cheese, but nothing stood out. Sauce options were also limited--just a vinegar-based and a tomato-based option. We also noticed some quality control issues: one friend received burnt toast, while mine was barely toasted. Overall, the service was great, but the food fell flat. I'd probably try a different spot in the area next time, though BBQ options in Hillsborough are fairly limited.

We had my fiancé's grandparents with us, one of whom uses a wheeled walker, and the staff went out of their way to make sure they were comfortable. They even offered us a table inside once one became available after being cleaned, though by then we were already settled. For my meal, I had the 2 meat combo: half ribs and bbq chicken leg. The ribs were excellent--sauced, flavorful, and tender--though I would have liked a bit more bark. The BBQ chicken leg, however, was less impressive; the skin wasn't crispy and the texture of the meat felt a bit off. The mac and cheese was tasty but leaned toward the drier side. The white slaw was refreshing and balanced, not too tangy, and I really enjoyed the hushpuppies, which were golden and crispy. Portion size was just right for one person. Cocktails could've use some improvement, my rosemary refresher tasted watered down and lacked flavor.
