She appeared visibly annoyed and stated that she would have to go ask someone. At that moment, I had no desire to argue or create a confrontation. No one should have to feel unwelcome or question whether they are being treated differently while simply trying to enjoy a meal. Rather than endure further embarrassment or discomfort, my friend and I quietly chose to leave. It was frustrating to experience something that made me feel unseen and separated while spending my money just like every other customer. I am not my ancestors, and I refuse to accept being made to feel hidden, excluded, or less deserving because of the color of my skin. But at these prices, I think it's fair to have higher expectations, especially when a single entrée costs $25. The carne asada plate was easily the biggest disappointment of the evening. The meat was sliced incredibly thin, almost like cheesesteak meat, and several pieces were so charred they were practically inedible. For $25, I expected a much better cut and preparation of steak. What makes this frustrating is that the restaurant clearly knows how to make some really good food. Their chicken tinga tacos were excellent, the handmade tortillas were a highlight, and the pupusas and appetizers were all enjoyable. The entrance can be from the front of the restaurant or the back end and parking wraps around the building. Chips and salsa are homemade and salsa isn't spicy, we did get a cheese dip and it was worth the money. They also provide you a variety of hot sauces, there is a green and red salsa they gave to the table and the red salsa definitely has a kick but it was so delicious I'd buy just the salsa if I could. I braced myself on the table to pick it up and almost flipped the table (water spilled and items went sliding). Instead of looking in shock, offering to help clean up the water or even laugh, she gave me the Gen Z stare..... this should have been our warning sign for the non existent service that was to come. My main lunch entree was 4 stars (sadly can't say the same for the sides or my husband's), but the service... I honestly should subtract more than 1 star but feeling more generous than they were with their service ;)
