There's something about a classic grill that just feels like home. I stepped away from the chains today to find a real meal, and this place delivered. Between the Carolina-style hot dog and the crispy fries, it was exactly what I was looking for. Topped it off with some of the best sweet tea in town. It's a cash-heavy spot (there's a $2 fee for cards), but for these prices and this kind of customer service, it's well worth the stop. Support local! read more

Met some friends and we grabbed lunch to go. We all ordered the BLT but various ways. It was one of the best BLTs I have had in a long time. Friendly folks behind the counter. Would definitely go again. read more

Great food fun atmosphere. We had a few different things and everything was delicious and and cook perfectly. Service was great. They came right up to us when we got in. Got the meal. Quick took care of us. Very happy with this place. read more

We happened to see Missy's Grill while we were on our way to hike. It is a little stand alone grill right off the side of the road. We decided to stop by and give it a whirl. We couldn't believe the prices! The one place left on this planet that isn't overcharging. We decided to get the hot dogs with everything on them and an order of fries. They were both ok. The fries would have been better if they were crispier, but for the price we weren't disappointed. It was a bummer that they only take cash, the picnic tables that were on the property were turned over, instead of taking names for our order the girl at the window shouts out the orders, and the wait for the food seemed a bit much. read more

What a colossal disappointment. I was lured to Missy's Grill by a 4.5 star Yelp rating from a decent data set of 22 reviews. I don't know what these other reviewers are tasting, but the lunch I had today was worth two stars at best. Name any--ANY-- fast food chain, and I can promise you a better meal there. Hot dog all the way: below average pink wiener on an untoasted bun. I could not even get a reading on the chili because there was so little of it. Same thing with the slaw unless you count the marble sized chunk of cabbage core that I encountered. Double cheeseburger: they don't have pickles. What kind of a place serves cheeseburgers without pickles as an option as a topping? It wouldn't have mattered. The patties were dry and bland with no char and no taste. They smacked of frozen and/or cheap quality. French fries: these started out pretty good, but I was not provided with salt, which they desperately needed. Then I encountered one that tasted rotten and fishy. Nasty. Sweet tea: above average. It is sad that this was the best thing about my meal. I took my lunch to the nearby Efland United Methodist Church parking lot and ate it there. At one o'clock the church bells began to tintinnabulate "The Old Rugged Cross". I love church bells. And old hymns. But these bells were not tuned properly and the song was played half in a major key and half in a minor key. This does not work. It turned a rather reverent and hopeful hymn into something quite doleful. At least it matched my meal. Speaking of which, the people working at Missy's were very nice and the meal was very cheap. But I guess you get what you pay for. read more

Missy's Grill - Disappointing - Hot Dogs Near Me - Efland, North Carolina

Right off the interstate this place is worth a stop to grab a bite to eat. There are picnic tables if you prefer to eat outside. My bacon, egg and cheese biscuit was really good. Breakfast is served all day. Nothing fancy but good food. read more

Such a great place for quick eats. Staff are super sweet. The chuck wagon is so, so good. read more

The best hotdogs in town! It has never changed ever since I was a kid.....good old fashioned food

I mean REALLY, THREE DOLLARS for a BLT utterly LOADED with bacon? Crazy! Crazy good, too! I ask for mine with extra crispy bacon and double toasted bread, mayo salt and pepper. If you get fries, ask for them extra crispy too, but the onion rings are better. Chocolate milkshake is good but nothing fancy or special. I tried the lemonade based on someone else's glowing review, it tasted like minute maid from a soda machine to me. Call ahead, sometimes the close an hour or two early without warning or explanation. But, OHHHHH, THAT BLT! read more

Good cheeseburger from a walk up window. No seating at all so we sat on the tailgate of my truck.

At one point, and not long ago either, this little grill served a pretty good chili dog, but it has become very inconsistent . In fact, the last two times I stopped here, the dogs were just awful - thin, bland chili, and the Jesse Jones wieners were not cooked thru - this tends to discourages the purchase of additional dogs and return visits. This is a tiny place, just off 40/85, where you walk up to the window to place your order - and the only seating is some rustic outside tables, that are not always clean - most folks seem to eat in their car, or head home. The burger here is ok, the fries are not, and there are other sandwiches available (including the Alamance County cheese dog, no wiener, cheese instead), but the hot dog was the only reason to stop here, at least for me. I'll give this place one more try because it was worth a stop previously. read more

I had no idea this place existed until yesterday. I got off the highway to get gas and my plan was just to get a bag of chips and a drink from the gas station. The Coble Dairy sign and handful of construction workers standing underneath the covered seating area lured me in. The guy in front of me ordered a BLT and he seemed to know what he was doing, so I ordered one too, on toasted bread with mayo, salt and pepper. I didn't even read the menu that was tacked up on the inside of the ordering window. And I still don't know what they serve, except for "BREAKFAST ALL DAY" and I noticed they close at 9pm. Plenty of time to drive down I-40 this summer for BLTs and milkshakes, if they serve them. Anyhow, I also ordered a bag of chips (90¢) and chocolate milk (1.10). I waited in my car, because it seemed safe (not that the covered area seemed unsafe) because a new ATM was being installed and the noise was distracting. Very quickly my order was ready and it was a little more than $5. That BLT, that BLT, THAT BLT! No less than 8 pieces of bacon! I had to take 3 pieces off so I could fit my mouth around the bread without harming myself. Fresh, thinly sliced tomato and crisp iceberg lettuce. For $3 I really didn't expect much, but it blew my mind how big and heavy and good that wax paper covered sandwich was! And my milk wasn't a carton, it was in a big ol' 24oz cup. I really can't wait to go back. I can't say I'll try anything else on the menu, but it's DEFINITELY worth the pit stop on the way to any point east. read more

Missy's Grill - BLT and grease-stained paper - Hot Dogs Near Me - Efland, North Carolina

See all

As I was on my way to Tanger Outlets in Mebane, I noticed the sign for Efland, and that reminded me that someone had mentioned Missy's Grill. If I recall correctly, they had highly recommended the hot dogs, and I seem to be on some Holy Grail quest for the best Carolina-style hot dogs. In reality, I think I'm always searching for a hot dog like the old Amos & Andy's in downtown Durham a long, long time ago... or the Eagle Drive-In that was at the northeast corner of Old Oxford and Roxboro... Since those ancient days, my favorite dog was It's a Wiener at 54 & 55, but the Dog House appears to have sadly put them out of business. Well, back to Missy's... I decided to see if I could find the place. Finding it was no problem. It really IS just off the interstate. I placed my order, 2 hot dogs, mustard, slaw, chili, and onions, and a diet Coke. A few moments later, my order was ready, and I headed to one of their picnic tables for my research. The dogs looked pretty much as I had anticipated, and I didn't think they were bad. I did almost immediately note that the slaw tasted like it came from a little plastic container at the local grocery store. In my opinion, if you're going to serve coleslaw, it needs to be freshly prepared. Cutting corners never pays, and I have to admit the slaw is what really lowered my impression. It's possible that the same dog minus the slaw would have been really good, but I'm not sure. My hesitation has to do with the sweetness of the overall package. I assume it was the slaw that was overly sweet, but it is possible to make chili sweet. I'd say "too sweet," but that's just being redundant. If the chili was sweet, that would be a real turn-off. On the positive side, the prices are pretty darn great. My order was three bucks, even. You can't do that at the other hot dog places I generally like. I might try Missy's again, but I'm not in Efland very often... read more

Well I sobered up. The food is good and it certainly is a great value but that 5th star was a little redick. Save a few bucks vs driving on the Durham Chapel Hill or Burlington. Eating at the covered picnic tables is really great if you have messy friends with you. read more

I used to like eating there, but was very disappointed this time. The fries were not done all the way and they had no salt on them. There is no sign saying cash only! I have driven by this place on numerous occasions and totally dismissed it as ever having the potential to produce anything I'd want to consume. That was until today. This weekend a friend who lives in Efland mentioned how good their BLT sandwiches are and how reasonable their prices are. I do appreciate a good BLT, so my husband and I decided to try it for lunch. We each got one, at the low low price of $3 each, and split an order of onion rings. The sandwich was LOADED with bacon. I think there were like ten strips of bacon on it. The tomato slices were fresh and generous, which was surprising for January, and the lettuce was firm and crisp. I was definitely impressed. There was nothing fancy or special about the sandwich, but they did it WELL, and that's what counts. The onion rings were a good size portion, the rings had good fresh onion chunks, yielding a good onion:batter ratio and they weren't too greasy. I don't know that I will make eating here a regular habit since it's not particularly healthy, but I will definitely be back! read more

A $3.00 BLT with more bacon than you could imagine! I love stopping by this place.

I'm not sure why this place is barely pushing two stars. I really love this place! I look forward to this being our dinner when my husband plays at The Challenge golf course, he stops by and brings it home. I absolutely love their BLTs and their chocolate milkshake. Their hamburger are pretty good too. I haven't tried their hot dogs so I can't really make a review for that one. We always make it a priority to stop here when we go to that part of town. Can't beat their prices for the food! read more

Just discovered Missy's and so glad we did!!! Great, quick and cheap biscuits! BLT with lots of bacon! Can't go wrong.

Very well rounded place and you can't beat the price. I always go there for the hushpuppies. Hamburgers are similar to cookouts burgers. The breakfast has a very "homie" feel so to speak.
