The waitstaff was kind but they were very busy, The place is very small. Definitely a waffle house vibe. The waitress and the cook were yelling at each other because he couldn't read her writing and orders were coming out wrong. This restaurant has been around for decades. If you want down-home good eats with friendly and welcoming staff this is the place. Prices are reasonable. Highly recommend it for breakfast. The meatloaf with all the fixings stands out and I've ordered it often. read more

The food was not too bad but I was so concerned with the waitresses and staff on this particular day. No one that worked there was wearing masks and you could clearly see that many were sick enough not to be there. Coughing, red eyes and noses...cough cough cough. The cook was telling the lady at the counter who also was sick of how he felt last week with the coughing and pain in his chest...we could clearly hear all of this. When out waitress returned to our table I asked her if she had a cold. She replied that she had cleaned a closet out at home and the dust bothered her... and it was allergies. There is always a twinge of concern coupled with a compelling curiosity when you approach a restaurant and see a sign announcing that "we reserve the right to refuse service to anyone", and adjacent to the door is a bench with an advertisement for a local bail bondsman on it (Big Mitch is his name, should you need his services). The restaurant, which I am almost certain is a converted Waffle House (if that tells you anything), is connected to a seedy flop house, and, as such, both look pretty run down. But the food inside was really good! Cheeseburger was excellent, fries were good, and onion rings were cooked perfectly but were a little bland. Service was adequate as was the value. No fountain drinks--canned sodas only, FYI. Evidently, a lot of countrified locals frequent this place, and their banter with each other and the waitstaff is a riot. read more

Don't be put off by the location next to what appears to be a "no tell motel". The Timberland Restaurant has probably the best breakfast in Roxboro. The food is cooked to order, down to the grits, so don't be surprised if your order takes 20 minutes or so to arrive if you order them. It takes that long to make them. Their biscuits are big and fluffy, eggs done perfectly. We'll go back. read more

We love diners and this one makes our list! Read the other reviews and decided to try it on our way North to Virginia. Ignore the cover of this book and just enjoy the food. Great cheese omelet and pancakes. Bacon was perfect and the coffee was on target as well. We sat at the counter (always the best seat in a true diner) and loved the original metal foot rests. I've been going to this diner since I was a small child. My grandfather used to work here. The staff are always welcoming. The new owners have redone the place and it just feels really at home there. It might not look like much from the outside but once you get inside you'll be amazed by how hard everyone is working. The food taste absolutely delicious. I try to go there every time I get paid. (So about once a week). Everyone knows everyone here and its honestly the best atmosphere. read more

Great place (one of the few) to get a tasty and very fast breakfast in the Roxboro area. Each time I have gone, we have received decent service and the orders are always accurate. You can watch them grill right there, and fulfilling meals are very reasonably priced. I don't care for the location, attached to a very low class motel. However, nobody seems to bother you, though I wouldn't attempt dinner. None the less, if you're looking for a great breakfast and you're in the area, this is a decent place to do so. Food is great here. Never judge a book by it's cover though. We lived here 6 years before we even ate there because it seemed shady because of it's outward appearance. The inside isn't better either, but that says nothing about their food. I do wish they had more options, and allergen free ones too. The food is always cooked on the grill where all can see and seems to always be busy. The whole soda in a can thing is a bit annoying but at least they give you a cup with ice to pour it in. read more
