The Emeritus staff only cleans what belongs to the Emeritus. My mother and her brothers had to dust and clean so many times it wasn't funny. The food was marginal at best. The rooms are simply that--a room...aka a studio apartment with no kitchen! It's essentially a nursing home--not truly assisted living. For $3K per month, it was very disappointing. If you are looking for an assisted living facility for your loved one, please do your homework and look around. Your loved ones deserve to be well cared for. While Im sure the staff cares, the value isn't what it should be.

Our loved ones are treated no better than a caged pet. They get fed and the minimum of care but not much interaction from the staff other than leading them like animals. They are not treated with any kind of dignity and are left to their own devices too much of the time. They need more care than that and it breaks my heart to see the neglect. I also see a real lack of management from those in management-they always seem to be behind closed doors visiting with each other instead of making sure that the elderly are being taken care of with dignity and respect-again I'm speaking of the Memory Care section. One lady walks around in wet clothing because she cannot control her bladder and I would believe she probably wears an adult diaper so they just let her walk around until she is so wet and someone decides to take the time to do something about it. I think it's shameful. There are others that smell so badly, again dirty diapers or just really unclean. They do not get bathed but maybe once a week, if they're lucky. They do not have them clean their hands before a meal and a lot of them eat with their hands. They need help, they need guidance, they need to be respected and shown some dignity. I have heard others ask to be taken to the bathroom and they are ignored until the person asking actually gets upset and starts demanding to be taken to the bathroom. They treat them as though they don't know what they are talking about or what they need. No respect shown at all-in fact some of them show that their hearts are definitely not into taking care of the elderly. I feel that some of them are strictly there for the paycheck and I think the ones that do care just can't do it all by themselves. Where is the screening when hiring these people? All I'm saying is spend some time there before you make the decision to place a loved one in their care long term. They put on a good show when you are there looking into their facility but that show goes away not long after the papers are signed. It is really no more than a nursing home-definitely not 'assisted living.'

We were favoring them when we had one more question, and sent an email to Dustin; he answered it promptly even though it was late and he WAS ON VACATION (which we found out from another staff member). Their caregivers were good. And showed up when scheduled. We even had a incidence when one of the caregivers had a last minute transportation issue, when due for a night shift. We received a call from Taylor to advise us that she was working on a replacement, but if she could not find one SHE WOULD COME HERSELF. They furnished us with all of their licenses and insurance to assure they were fully insured and licensed. We are glad we chose them!

No one had checked on him, and by the time he was found, he was nearly dead. After his stay in the ER, he was admitted to a rehab facility for three months. During this entire time, he continued to pay rent at Thunderbird. While he was away, his apartment became uninhabitable due to a water leak. People were in and out constantly making repairs. Within a month of his return--still recovering, foggy, and dealing with incontinence--he was served eviction papers. We already had additional cleaning services arranged and a plan in place, but Michael, the director, chose to send court papers directly to my dad without notifying any family members. He knew an 86-year-old man fresh out of the hospital could not advocate for himself in court. It was heartless, to say the least. My dad didn't fully understand what the papers meant and didn't tell us; he thought Michael's threat to call the sheriff was just that--a threat. Thank God for the good people at Cornerstone who reached out to me. I live out of state and had no idea what Thunderbird was planning. The way Thunderbird handled this situation showed a complete lack of integrity and ethics. Please don't be misled by their claims of genuinely caring about the well-being of your loved ones--because in our experience, it simply wasn't true.

This home accommodates up to 6 residents so it provides tailored attention to each resident. No one is lost in the shuffle like that of a larger facility.
