She lives in the memory care unit; you have to have a password to use the elevator to get to her floor. I forgot to mention, they have a tablet that you use to check in- you enter your phone number and then it asks if you're seeing your person. It takes your picture, then it prints out a label. You have to use it to check out too, security is important. I went to their Thanksgiving buffet, everyone went to the first floor and got their food. The whole dinning room was open, so family could come visit their loved ones.

The entire building had a wonderful vibe and the residence we interacted with were so welcoming and friendly. We feel confident that if any emergency or care is needed, Mom is in the right place. I am quite grateful for the good care I received from the nurses and Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs), and the outdoor grounds are beautifully maintained. However, there were notable areas that need improvement. There were times when the care staff felt stretched thin, leading to slow response times when calling for assistance. Furthermore, communication between the administrative team and family members could be improved. A major concern was the doctors, who visit the facility sporadically; my wife was never able to speak with them. The biggest issue was the performance of the physical therapy team. There was no set schedule whatsoever, and they often rushed through sessions in just five minutes, combining physical and occupational therapy together. I tracked each visit to the gym, and we never reached the expected five sessions per week for either physical or occupational therapy. While it is a nice facility with a caring nursing staff, closely monitoring the therapy department, staffing levels, and doctor communication would make the experience much better.

They provide no e-mail address, no complaint channel via e-mail, web or telephone, and no one on their executive team will either take a phone call or return a message. My dad was 86 years old when my sister found him on the floor of his apartment. He had apparently…read morebeen there for at least two nights. No one had checked on him, and by the time he was found, he was nearly dead. After his stay in the ER, he was admitted to a rehab facility for three months. During this entire time, he continued to pay rent at Thunderbird. While he was away, his apartment became uninhabitable due to a water leak. People were in and out constantly making repairs. Within a month of his return--still recovering, foggy, and dealing with incontinence--he was served eviction papers. We already had additional cleaning services arranged and a plan in place, but Michael, the director, chose to send court papers directly to my dad without notifying any family members. He knew an 86-year-old man fresh out of the hospital could not advocate for himself in court. It was heartless, to say the least. My dad didn't fully understand what the papers meant and didn't tell us; he thought Michael's threat to call the sheriff was just that--a threat. Thank God for the good people at Cornerstone who reached out to me. I live out of state and had no idea what Thunderbird was planning. The way Thunderbird handled this situation showed a complete lack of integrity and ethics. Please don't be misled by their claims of genuinely caring about the well-being of your loved ones--because in our experience, it simply wasn't true.
