Wow....Chris, Shawn and the amazing chef Intan!!! I lived out of state and every morning Chris would give me an update on how my Dad was doing. The staff is there 24/7 unlike other group homes. The owners are amazing and have been in this business for 11 years, so they know what they are doing and come with very high standards. When my Dad was passing the staff did not leave our sides. Basically you get the true "at home" feel of other group homes except its not a Mom and Pop business, its actually a professional management company so they're responsive and go above and beyond. My mother is a resident at this place, she is 81 years old and has pretty severe cognitive issues,…read moredementia. She lives in the memory care unit; you have to have a password to use the elevator to get to her floor. I forgot to mention, they have a tablet that you use to check in- you enter your phone number and then it asks if you're seeing your person. It takes your picture, then it prints out a label. You have to use it to check out too, security is important. I went to their Thanksgiving buffet, everyone went to the first floor and got their food. The whole dinning room was open, so family could come visit their loved ones.

I don't blame her for leaving at all. What concerns me most is something I witnessed firsthand: while waiting to speak with her, I overheard a conversation between her and the executive director. His tone was belittling, and he spoke about writing up and firing staff in a way that felt dismissive of the people actually doing the caregiving. Given that, it's hardly surprising how many memory care directors have come and gone. It's worrying to think this same leadership will be opening a new, state-of-the-art center -- I have real concerns about whether the culture behind the scenes matches the polish out front. I don't typically write reviews, but after learning Laurin had left and seeing firsthand how unsanitary and rundown the common areas have become, I felt I owed it to other families to speak up. This is memory care -- the residents here are especially vulnerable, and I think that raises the stakes on all of this considerably.
