First time at this location on a Sunday for brunch and happily we didn't have to wait longer than 5 minutes! We sat outside and enjoyed the beautiful weather. Our waiter was Alex and he was very friendly and helpful with menu items. The food was very yummy! I had the smoked salmon Benedicts and my friend had the California omelette. Their home style potatoes seemed more like messy hash browns (we had to double check with waiter) but otherwise good. Very happy with experience!

So, I think I'm rating this spot up to a four star based mostly on the coffee... My wife and I met a friend couple here and overall it is a good place to get some good food. I got a Golden State Benedict and it was quite good. I can't say it was great as I'm probably a more traditionalist when it comes to eggs Benedict. This one had avocado with bacon on English muffins, hollandaise sauce and Sriracha which seemed like a good combination and is what drew me in. My wife got lemon ricotta pancakes with blueberries. I tried a bite and they were good but again not great. And she did get a couple bites with onion which is not good while eating pancakes. The place is busy and the interior is very loud so if you're going to meet with people ask to be seated outside so you can hear each other. The outside area is nice but the chairs are a heavy metal which makes getting seated and getting up a bit problematic. The service was pretty good and very helpful. We went late morning so I did see some lunch items going past us and the club sandwich as well as the burgers looked quite tasty. The coffee was definitely worthwhile for sure. We both got the messy caramel latte and enjoyed them. We'll go back and try lunch next time.

I've been wanting to try this place for a while, and I'm so glad we finally did today! The food was amazing, and the service was incredibly fast. Our server Carlos F took great care of us--he checked in often and gave excellent recommendations. The atmosphere was welcoming and felt like the perfect family breakfast spot. We had a wonderful time and will definitely be coming back!

The prices were good, but the food was bland. I believe I got the avocado toast and it was just too much avocado. It was very messy and needed more seasoning. Bae got the steak and eggs, and it was so lackluster. Steak tasted like sadness and the eggs were overcooked. Hash browns were a little better with some crunch. Crowded spot with good portions, but that's about it. There's better breakfast spots in Costa Mesa for sure. It's a family friendly environment with balloon artists walking around and coloring books available, but if you're looking for a spot with tasty food, I cannot recommend this.

Gigantic portions, tasty food, fantastic service. Came here to try a drink recommended to me and had no idea how much we would enjoy the food. Will definitely be coming back. The Bloody Mary flight is calling my name still upset I don't order it.....

This is my first time at this Broken Yolk. This particular locations has great service, very clean and great food. We enjoyed avocado toast and eggs Benedict. Raymond was our server and he' was perfect.

Broken Yolk is my go-to spot for breakfast for me and my fiancé. Whenever friends or family visit, we love taking them here for a nice brunch. One of the best things about this place is that it is dog friendly, which is perfect because we have a Maltipoo that we love bringing everywhere. The food is always delicious. We especially love the Nutella crepes and omelettes, but honestly, everything we've tried has been flavorful and satisfying. You really can't go wrong with whatever you order. The atmosphere is welcoming and cozy, making it a perfect spot to enjoy a meal and spend time together. It is always super busy during the weekends, but make sure to go online and take a virtual stand in line. It is worth it. We truly love this place and keep coming back.

A solid, classic breakfast/brunch spot! They don't take reservations, but weekends are always crowded here! Plenty of parking in the shopping plaza's large lot. They also have both indoor and outdoor seating. The menu is quite extensive, so I can see why it's a great spot for families and groups. They literally offer all-things breakfast related--benedicts, omelets, pancakes, waffles, French toast, crepes, skillets, "South of the Border" dishes, and more. I enjoyed the dishes I tried from the "South of the Border" section of the menu. They do a good Chilaquiles Bowl! It comes with corn tortillas, red or green sauce (you can also ask for both!), jack cheese, two eggs, red onion, cilantro, and sour cream. Very tasty, and the portion size is huge! I also liked their Sope Benedict. This comes with two thick, crispy corn tortillas filled with shredded beef and topped with poached eggs, ranchero sauce, sliced avocado, salsa, cotija cheese, and sour cream. The beef is tender and flavorful. It also comes with a side item. The Hash Skillet is good as well. It comes with homefried potatoes, corned beef hash, onions, and bell peppers. Then it's topped with scrambled eggs, cheddar cheese, chopped bacon, and green onions. There's a lot going on in this skillet, but it works! It's basically all the classic breakfast ingredients throw into one plate. Lastly, I'd recommend the Lemon Ricotta Pancakes! I'm usually a savory breakfast person, but it was nice to add on a short stack (2) of pancakes for a little sweetness. The pancakes are quite large, so I would recommend splitting it with someone! They were very fluffy and come with blueberries, a lemon wedge, and are dusted with powdered sugar. Our server also brought us some butter, and there's syrup available on the table.

    Spring menu

We walked in at 9am on a Sunday and it was clearly busy but the service was impeccable! Thankful for our server Sabino who made sure the food came out quickly and was so hot it was steaming! We got the cinnacakes which were perfect for a sweet tooth! The manager Mauro stopped by our table to check in on our experience and was amazing to chat to! We also tried the fun drinks off the spring menu and they were both so perfect I'll probably order them again!

My friends and I had a "Hot Girl Brunch", and our server, Sabino was the best. He helped me set up my rewards program because the food was great! The service was top notch and if you go, get the mimosa flight. We were litty.

I got the Golden State Benedict with hash browns. The portions are pretty big and it kept me full for breakfast and lunch. It was kind of a "California" style eggs benedict with runny egg yolk, avocado, bacon and a crispy bread bottom. Delicious and very filling and all the flavors worked well together.

I've heard so much about Broken Yolk, but I did not love my experience. My partner and I came in on a weekend morning. Many seats were taken, but we passed plenty of tables as they led us to the patio, which only had two tables sat -- both had dogs with them. I'm not sure why we, dogless, were sat outside. The weather was nice though, so we didn't sweat it. My partner enjoyed his American Breakfast. I did not enjoy my Avocado Toast. The avocado was VERY ripe, a little too ripe for me and browning in a few spots. The egg on top was okay. I've heard such good things about Broken Yolk. Maybe fruit and veggie focused meals are not their strong suit.

We were seated in the upstairs area which was pretty awesome because you got more of a view of the ocean! It was awesome. The guy that seated us was one of the brothers that works there and he was so nice! He told us to let him know when we were ready to leave because it gets crazy and people try to steal tables hahah. He even tried to get us to stay later and offered to buy us all a shot if we did, which of course, my family never says no to, so they all got to enjoy that haha. He was fantastic! Our server was also amazing though I didn't get her name. The staff here really is outstanding! To eat, I ordered the chocolate chip pancakes and a side of their fruit bowl. It was all really good. The food came out pretty quick which was great. My family all enjoyed their HUGE beers and mimosas. But really, the drinks look like they could be a bowl of soup haha. We loved it here and I'd definitely come back. Once the afternoon hit, they turned the music up for the St. Patrick's Day crowd. It was definitely a fun atmosphere!

The bun is like a grilled cheese and the toppings go so well together. The garlic fries were meh.

What I Love: * Unique Flavors: The food tastes great and they have some really unique touches. I love that they serve raspberry jam with their toast--it's a nice change from the standard grape or strawberry. * Homemade Quality: It's really cool that they do their own house-made potatoes and even their own homemade ketchup. You can tell they put effort into the details. The Drawbacks: * Pricing & Fees: I'd give this 4.5 stars if I could, but I'm sticking with 4 because it's definitely on the pricey side. What really bugs me is seeing a mandatory tip/service charge for certain group sizes on the receipt. Between the expensive menu and the fact that they are constantly busy with plenty of business, it feels like price gouging. * Parking: The parking lot is very small, so be prepared for a bit of a struggle to find a spot, especially since they are always packed. Final Thoughts: The food and unique house-made items keep me coming back, but be prepared for a high bill and a tight parking situation.

The Bayshore pizza was more of a pan-style pizza with a unique cheese blend instead of traditional mozzarella. Make sure to ask for the pizza dip too, it has a tangy flavor that pairs really well with it. The warm baklava filled with pistachios was a great dessert to finish the meal. And it came from a breakfast joint, which is super rare in and of itself. Having lived in Southern California for many many years, I thought I had seen and experienced just about everything in the way of good places to eat. As I was driving around looking for some breakfast, I stumbled across oeb breakfast. And I am so glad I did. For starters, when you walk through the door, the place is bright and Cherry and has just the right amount of whimsy. It's neatly laid out and everything is in full view. It only took a moment my server to come get me at the front and direct me to a table. Let's talk about the service. Having been in the food service industry, I know what it takes to have a great dining experience. Caesar, who was my waiter, took care of me in a level that I have not seen in a very long time. Personable, gracious, accommodating, and helpful are just a few of the words I would use to describe my experience being served by him. I asked for coffee and water and within moments it arrived on my table. Side note, the coffee is off the chain! It is a brand called Umbria and it is amazing. After scanning the menu, I opted for the beef bulldogi Benedict with the beef Tallow fries. I asked for the fries extra crispy, and ask for my milk to be served with breakfast. If you've read any of my Yelp reviews on breakfast places, you know that that is one of my litmus tests for the accuracy of the order. If I have to ask for my milk after the meal's been delivered, they're not doing their job. Not that I'm picky, for me. It is just a way to determine how good of a listener the server actually is. It didn't take long at all for the food to be delivered. The presentation was absolutely amazing, as we eat with our eyes. First, I have to say that the way the food was plated was definitely a work of art. Once the food was dropped off half of me was going. I wonder if they will remember... And before I could finish my thought Caesar showed back up with the milk. Home run! The food itself was absolutely wonderful, I cannot remember when I have enjoyed a breakfast as much as this one. All the flavors were there, it was perfectly balanced, and was just a pleasant dining experience overall. Bragging on Caesar again, as I was sitting there, the restaurant started to get very busy, he handled himself with such Grace and poise and didn't let the mounting tension frazzle him. Again, I wish this place was in my hometown so I could come here more often, but you can bet that I will be back here multiple times. Bottom line? (Did not take a picture of it) Korean Bulgogi Benedict: 7/10 Some parts of the meat wasn't fully marinated from what I tasted. Some of my bites of the meat were flavorful. A little weird to have 2 pieces of spinach as a garnish. Never seen that before. Potatoes were really good. Can't go wrong with those. Short Rib bowl: 8/10 everything in that bowl were amazing together. Banana Cream Pie French Toast: 4/10 this was a miss for me. Nothing amazing about it. The custard part was off for me. Maybe if it was more of a banana pudding, it would be better with the cream. Didn't really taste like a banana cream pie. Green Machine: 10/10! So good and refreshing Chocolate Milk: needed more chocolate. They gave us a cup with it 1/4 filled because they ran out of milk since it was so busy and never came back with more. I didn't want to bother them and ask them about it, but checked the bill and they only charged us half for it... so we just paid for it and left it as is.
