You could walk right by Broken Robot and totally miss it. Your life would be incomplete if you made that mistake. It is not big, but it more than makes up for it with great coffee and great food! I tried a drip coffee (Flux Caffeinator) it was smooth and flavorful. The breakfast sandwich was delicious too. It doesn't come out quick, but it's worth the wait. The English muffin was one of the best I've had. The egg was made well and the cheese was nice and creamy. Great service, great coffee, great food, and a great location! This was so amazing!

10/10 coffee shop. I feel so lucky to live close to this shop, but even if you don't you must stop by.... The shop is small and clean, run by a duo of really kind women who I love chatting with. Their espresso roast is Colombian (my personal favorite) and DELICIOUS. They're syrups are mostly Monin brand and every drink I get tastes phenomenal. Every damn time they NAIL it. Not to mention they have the best prices of any shop I've visited thus far in Portland area. But I would shop here even if it was more expensive, because they are that good. So much good to say, & only moved to the neighborhood a month ago. Will be a long time customer!

The pastries at this place are ridiculously good. The Nutella roll especially slaps. Lisa, the owner, works so hard and it's a family labor of love. I think they even roast the coffee. This coffee shop is the essence of community. Two blocks from Dutchies on Holgate...nudge, nudge, wink, wink.

We all got chai. The nice women who were working there warned us that the chai is a little spicy. Was def more seasoned than any other chai I've had. Very delicious, very worth it

The vibe: In town on a gig and swung by for a pick-me-up based off of reviews. It doesn't look like they do sandwiches anymore, or at least they don't have a sandwich menu available and I was too shy to ask. They do have bagels and an assortment of pastries that the barista walked me through so I could get one sweet and one savory. She seemed really kind and spoke to the customers ahead of me with a level of familiarity--following up with them about travel plans, and the customers asking her for life updates--made me wish I had a regular place to go like this where I live! The order: **Savory asiago pastry with rosemary--honestly so good. I'm more of a breakfast sandwich guy but this really hit the spot. Heated it up back at home and it instantly became a crispy, buttery delight. **Sweet croissant-esque layered pastry with brown sugar in the middle and topped with a maple glaze and cute sprinkles. I. Did not think I would love this as much as I did. It's like all the best parts of a doughnut and a croissant rolled into one and it is divine. I will say this felt very sweet to me, not cloying, but depending on the bite leaned more toward dessert than breakfast pastry for me personally! **Dirty oatmilk chai. Spicy. Milky. A taste of honey(?). Delicious. Usually when I order a chai, even when asked if I want sweet or spiced, they end up being a bit too sweet for me. This. This is a spiced chai. Didn't get to see the barista make it so not sure if it's a pre-made or house-made blend, but it's fantastic. I believe she pulled three shots for the dirty part of the latte, which is fine for me but might surprise some folks accustomed to the typical two. The ONLY downside: The only critical thing I can think of is the wait time. I had a break and wasn't in a rush to get out of there, but I imagine if I went there on a lunch break or a 15min break it might be a tad slow for me to feel comfortable. HOWEVER. It was one person running the joint, she was incredibly kind and provided the people in front of me with pastry options (and then did the same with me), and the upside is she seems really connected to her customers, which is pretty special I think. If you're looking for a quick in and out coffee experience I'm not sure this is it, but I bet you could find a Dutch Bros nearby.

One of my favorite coffee shops in town. Prices are very cheap and the coffee is delicious. They have outside seating on the side of the shop. Staff is very friendly and can help with your preferred taste in coffee.

We're not sure what it was, it could have been the morning bun so I asked a barista. The pastries have some allergen information in the placards but when I get an allergic reaction, I want to make sure and ask. They looked through the ingredients list/binder and they couldn't find the ingredients for the morning bun. Luckily, my husband and my allergies are pretty mild, but this seems pretty dangerous. If you have any kind of allergy, I don't think this is the place for you.

That alone deserves recognition, and it's clear they genuinely care about the community they serve. The baristas were all awesome and provided great, friendly service. The pastry case is also impressive--everything looks absolutely delicious. I ended up getting the Green Onion Cream Cheese Pop-Tart, and wow... it was amazing. Savory instead of sweet, perfectly balanced, and honestly one of the most memorable pastries I've had in a while. I also ordered a drip coffee. While it was good, I do wish they offered soy milk. They do have oat and almond milk, and the coffee menu is fairly straightforward--drip, americano, cappuccino, etc.--no specialty drinks, but the basics are covered. The space itself is really pretty. I love the wooden ceiling, the house-like feel, and especially the wall of green plants--it's warm and inviting. That said, the layout could use some improvement. Most of the seating is for two people, there are no large group tables, and it gets loud quickly. We were able to find a tucked-away spot in the back for our group of three so we could actually talk (which is kind of the point of a coffee shop). The sofa and chair were very comfortable, but that area is a high-traffic zone. Staff frequently passed through to grab breakfast burritos, and people were constantly heading to the bathroom, which made it feel disruptive. The wicker table back there is also too large and really impedes the walkway for both staff and customers. With only a single bathroom, a line formed, which took away from the overall ambiance--and unfortunately, the bathroom had a strong chemical smell. All that said, this place does so much good for the community, and I truly admire what they stand for. I'll absolutely continue to support them--next time, I'll probably just take my coffee to go. Keep up the good work and the amazing mission.

Service was average, which is expected for a café, and the cashier appeared to be in training, which I didn't mind at all. I visited on 12/10/25 and ordered what I believe was a maple bourbon matcha. Unfortunately, the syrup overpowered the matcha, so it wasn't my favorite. That said, I enjoy this company overall and would definitely come back to try a different drink and to hopefully bump up the rating.

I have been wanting to come here for years. Yes years. In my family, we don't really go to brunch…read moreor even breakfast too often. You can tell from my yelp reviews, I don't really have a lot of breakfast reviews. But I had this saved as a must try and it is in NE and not far from our place. So this morning when hubs said our pregnant daughter was coming over for breakfast I jumped at the chance to suggest this spot. In case you don't read the rest of my review, I wanted to comment that the service was really great here and I am pretty sure the nice guy in the front was the owner, but I could be wrong. There was another guy working as well when two of us arrived and the rest were parking and he told us which table would be ours but that we should wait and all order together. But he was really great because when he saw the place start to get busy he reminded us of our table in the corner, kinda letting us know so it wouldn't get snatched. So that earned points in book. The menu is brunchy in that it is a prix fix breakfast menu for $28.50 and there are 3 columns with 4-5 choices. Drinks, savory and sweet items. Boozy drinks are about $10-15 extra. There is also drinking chocolate, teas, coffee or juice. (Orange and grapefruit). The girls said the orange juice was really good. But I can't drink citrus and drinking chocolate would've been too heavy for me, so I opted for coffee. This is the only column that I could take or leave. Savory - all of us I think had something different and not one item was bad. I opted for the popcorn chicken and cheesy grits and it came with a poached egg that had a beautiful gooey egg yolk in the middle. The chicken was crispy and cooked to a crispy perfection on the outside but tender and juicy on the inside. The grits were so yummy and creamy as well. *chefs kiss* My hubs ordered the buttermilk biscuits with chorizo gravy and that was also a stellar choice. I had a bite and the biscuits were crisp on the outside and the gravy with the chorizo had such good flavor. Sweet - I had the Tres Leches French toast and once again, it was perfectly crisp on the outside and cooked to perfection on the inside with what I assume was a tres leches condensed milk concoction. It came with some berries and cream drizzled around it was perfect. My hubs had the graham cracker waffles and I am going to say it again, crispy and golden on the outside and cooked perfectly. I didn't eat any of the other items that everyone else ordered, like the baked egg and potatoes or the crepes, so I cannot comment on them, but I did take photos to share. But there are so many photos already I doubt mine offer anything new. I'm not usually a breakfast or brunch person but this was really good. 10/10 delicios on every single item and this place gets 6 stars out of 5.
