We were driving from Maine to VT and started to get hungry for lunch. I did a quick search for something close, that had good reviews, and found Broken Hearts Burger. My husband & I LOVE burgers & fries, and the reviews were all great, so we decided we had to try it. It did not disappoint. Everything in the other reviews holds true - there is 1 server who is doing everything outside of the kitchen, and she's very good at juggling multiple customers. We each got the Heartbreaker with fries, and both joined the Clean Plate Club. SUPER messy, but SUPER delicious. The fries were super crispy (a BIT too salty for me) and flavorful. It is a bit on the pricier side - $14 each for the Heartbreakers, but we also recognize that all the ingredients come from local sources and companies. The fries are only $3 for a good-sized portion, which is nice. I wouldn't have minded some AC, as it was a pretty hot day. But that's minor. If you're in the area and like burgers, check it out!! read more

Wonderful vibe and atmosphere. Enjoyed the food very much. I have been craving a good burger and they did not disappoint. Tried the double burger with fried onions and pickles. Left with three each of their donuts. Those were delicious as well. Even brought a few home for my travels and share with my kids to try. After more than 24 hours they were still delicious. The one and only server did an absolute fantastic job balancing everyone as they came in, cleaning up the tables, and bring out the food. As well as bar back and bartend. Mandatory service charge of 17% is actual robbery. Also, we traveled 45 minutes to get there, and we're told that we couldn't do takeout. This is a while ago, so things may have changed. Management could've made an exception, especially since it was not indicated anywhere on social media or your website that you don't do take out on weekends Or whatever you're stupid policy is. Rigid and ridiculous. A 17% service charge is actual theft. Tips are a reward for good service. No exceptioms! If you want to make sure that your employees are paid adequately, be honest and transparent, and build their wages into your prices so people don't get a shock with their bill. I believe this could be grounds for a class action lawsuit. Especially if the service is lacking. Mandatory service fees that take away the customers agency and personal discretion based on their experience is called dishonesty in business practice. Can't wait to see the response from the thin-skinned owner who is incapable of absorbing criticism without firing back like a petulant adolescent. I am no Maga warrior. But I despise pondscum like yourself who cannot take any criticism, and make ad hominem attacks on anyone who finds fault with your business practices. You're a pathetic joke. Having grown up just south of Fairlee my entire life, the only restaurants this tiny town ever had were the Fairlee Diner and the Wippi Dip. Places have popped up over the years and operated for a little bit before ultimately closing. While visiting in December 2023 I heard about Broken Hearts Burger and tried it out one afternoon for lunch with some friends from out of town. If you aren't paying attention you might drive right by it on Route 5. Parking is limited but there is an open lot across the street. The restaurant is small inside, with about 3-4 booths and maybe 5 counter bar stools. I ordered the Nashville hot fried chicken sandwich and I was blown away: perfectly crispy with enough spice to get your nose running. The tangy pickles mixed with the creamy and sweet coleslaw balances it out. It's a bit expensive at $13 (and that's without fries) but entirely worth it. Rarely has this ever happened for me, but I was so impressed that I took a different pair of friends there the very next day for dinner. That night I tried the Heartbreaker burger, with two double smash burgers, all the toppings, and fries. Very tasty and filling. The service was on point too, with our waitress being very attentive. Overall, Broken Hearts Burger is a fantastic new addition to the Fairlee food scene, and you can bet that I'll be stopping in whenever I am in town. read more

Great beer list, great burgers, great fries. The double 'heartbreak' burger was well cooked with lacy smashed edges and a juicy center. The pickles and sauce were a good contrast and the potato bun was soft and fresh. A nice small shred of iceberg lettuce gave just the right bit of crunch. The donuts looked great but that will have to wait until next time. Maybe not the most healthy choice but who cares. The food was fantastic. We sat at the counter and the server did a great job handling a late lunch rush on a soggy day. On a nicer day we'd have sat in one of the nice shady tables out front. God bless this establishment! This is... dare I say... better than Worthy Burger?! Broken Hearts may have a simple menu, but what it does, it does well. The patties are thin, and the fries are McDonald's shoestring style, so you don't walk out feeling like you ate a tub of lard (like you would at Worthy Burger, since their fries are literally fried in lard). Heartbreaker was fantastic. Soft bun, crispy edges on the patties, crunchy pickles, and a delicious sauce make for the perfect textural experience. You don't need to put in a lot of work to eat this burger; it just melts in your mouth. SO, so, classic. Would definitely recommend checking out this spot, which has taken the cake, in my opinion, for best burger in VT. Only thing I'll say is that I'd love for the wonderful people that dreamed this place up to add some sort of milkshake to the menu. Other than that, this place is burger perfection! We were so disappointed! We brought out-of-town visitors because we'd had such a good previous experience. Burgers were slathered in so much mayo, that the buns became mushy and were falling apart. The previously delicious fries were now almost inedible. They seemed as though they'd been sitting in the fryer too long, and were soaked through with grease. None of us could eat more than a few. A nice, retro-themed local burger place in the area. There's both indoor and outdoor seating, though outdoor seating gets filled pretty quickly around dinner time. The menu is pretty minimal and contains three main categories: burgers, fried chicken, and hot dogs. I've been here twice, and it's been a bit inconsistent. I ordered the same food both times--a single with fries. Burger patty is more of a "smashburger" type of patty, so it's pretty thin and crispy. Pickles tasted different than the usual ones in other places (in a good way). The first time was great and I would give a 5/5; however, the second time I was here was more of a 3/5. The patty was a bit too crumbly and the buns weren't toasted enough, so it was kind of floppy. Fries were overdone and too salty for me, though they were much better the first time. All in all, I'd have to come back here to give a more concrete opinion verdict, but from my two experiences, it's a 3.5/5. Took us a while to finally head over to Fairlee and try this amazing establishment. We decided to sit in a nice comfy booth inside but there is also outdoor dining. Went for the signature heartbreaker burger with American cheese. The crunchy meat from the smash burger to the creamy melted cheese and tang from the jumpback sauce wanted me to just inhale this tasty burger. I controlled myself to a point to savor it. This is our 'regular spot'. My partner and I are here at least every other week, if not every week for the past 6 or 7 months. We love it. We often have Cheyenne, as our server. She is amazing. There's an ever-changing great beer selection, which we have fun working our way through, and very interesting/exciting wine list. As for the burgers, I dream about them.
