As a local resident and long-time patron of the North Station, I am deeply disappointed by the treatment my father and I received during a recent visit. We entered via the trolley car entrance and were greeted with a casual "be right with you" from both the waitress and the owner. A few moments later, the waitress gestured toward a table in the back, but my father asked and motioned toward a nearby clean and empty booth instead. The waitress responded that it wasn't set, and the owner said she would clean a booth on the other side. From this point on, the owners demeanor noticeably shifted to one of irritation. As we waited, the owner made a pointed remark to the waitress in our clear earshot: "Don't let anyone treat you that way." This was both unprofessional and shocking, especially since we had not treated anyone any type of way. Once seated, we simply ordered a coffee and a water--using "please" and "thank you"--but the tension did not let up. While retrieving our drinks, the owner continued talking about us to the waitress, who was visibly looking in our direction. My father, who is hard of hearing, was fortunately unaware of the escalating commentary. However, I could not ignore it. When the owner returned with our drinks, I calmly asked if there was a problem with us requesting a booth. Instead of clarifying professionally, she leaned into my father's face and accused him of being rude, listing off excuses about seating processes, staffing, and previous customers. At this point, we decided to leave, saying only, "Alright, let's go." In response, the owner loudly told us to "leave" and "get out" in front of the entire dining room. This experience was embarrassing, unprovoked, and unacceptable. I've supported both of these establishments for years, but I will not be returning. To fellow diners: BEWARE. No one deserves to be treated this way--especially not over a simple seating request. read more

Cannot say enough about this gem. A true, old fashioned diner but with a liquor license. Staff is friendly and works very hard. Hash is home made and has sweet potatoes instead of russets, so Irish people beware. Biscuits and gravy is awesome and not to be missed. The decor has not changed for the last several decades and there is classic tunes from the 50s playing quietly in the background. Give yourself a treat and have breakfast here! read more

In July of 2025 We had excellent meals each time we visited North Station. The menu choices are hard to pick one, were very filling, we came back multiple times to sample the various options available. The staff are hard working and making sure you are enjoying your meal. The dinner is clean and bright, with an atmosphere of days gone by of the 40's, 50's, and 60's which is reflected in the decor, furnishings and background music. We were traveling from out of state and had an issue come up, the staff and owner Kristi went above & beyond in our time of need, she didn't need to, but it meant the world to us when we really needed help in a situation. My family and I stopped here the morning before we went through the Polar Caves, needless to say it was the perfect way to start the day. The food was amazing and the service was outstanding! Been here many times, the cute 50s diner aesthetic never goes out of style. The food is always good, and freshly prepared. While some parts of the restaurant are aged, they have been well taken care of are always clean, even the air ducts look like they have been cleaned recently. read more

The dining room was nice and clean with lots of old memorabilia. Suzanne served us and was extremely kind and personable, taking lots of extra time to talk with all of us, even our two young sons. Now, the food was delicious to say the least. My sons and I got the smoked gouda burger platters, and other items that were ordered were the corned beef hash, smoked salmon eggs Benedict on a bagel, and the reuben burger. ALL of our food was second to none. The burgers were cooked to perfection, and my 11 year old said it was the best burger he's ever tasted. BTW our 11 & 9 year olds crushed the entire double burgers and platters. We're from SW Ohio and would gladly be back, and our relatives who live nearby the diner frequent the establishment because of the greatness of the service and food. Just sayin. read more

A sister restaurant to Main Street Station in downtown Plymouth, this is such a cute little place! I had been here once before it changed ownership and had a better experience this time. The staff were very friendly and service was quick. I got the chicken & waffles with real maple syrup. It was good, but there wasn't a lot of chicken. A "must" eat at diner! - An off-shoot of Plymouth's totally off the hook "The Main Street Station Diner" - This place is the real deal. Homemade Corned-Beef Hash!!!, if this does not speak to your soul, you don't speak diner! First off, yes, this is the old location of "Plain Jane's" diner. Stifle the collective groans, it's gone. (Hooray!) Owner Christy is every bit as cheerful as she seems on her FaceBook posts, even when cleaning up a booth after some children decided to color all over it with crayons! (not our kids, LOL). We stopped by for a late lunch recently, so good to be able to get back out & about. I had the Pastrami Rueben, a sandwich by which I judge all diners. My lovely companion had the Thanksgiving sandwich, which similarly is her standard for comparison. Both sandwiches were express trains to our happy tummies! Side choices include some of the crispiest, tastiest onion rings in the Lakes Region. (RINGS, not thin "onion strips"). Hand cut French Fries sounded good, but as our friendly server said "you can't go wrong with Tater Tots". And while I would generally agree with that sentiment, I'm not sure I've ever had a 'Tot done in the deep fryer (as opposed to @ home in the oven), O-M-G! Sublime! A subtle crunch, I do not exaggerate. Sweet potato fries were another option. Perusing the menu I note the "Dublin" Omelet, with the aforementioned home-made corn beef hash and cheddar cheese. I looked back @ Main Street's menu and they have it there as well...How have I missed this and where have you been all my life? I can't wait to come back and try it. Eggs Benedict aficionados will understand this place means business, when they state in their house choices "Upgrade Hollandaise to Mushroom Duxelle, Sriracha or Berenice...add Truffle as well. Not my bag but X says YES! Burger choices are a variety of "Smash Burgers" which I'm told are a "thing", two handmade quarter-pound burgers on a homemade roll. All of the breads here are homemade as well. Fried pickles - fried mushrooms - fried jalapeños - fried artichokes - Combos! They have a soup (and quiche) "De Jour", but in my experience, like so many other places, every time I order it, it seems different! Recipes must vary widely. LOL. A little levity. Christy says they will be "Snowmobile Friendly" in the winter, which is great news for riders in the area. Great place to stop by and warm up with some hearty food & drink. Mimosa? Bloody Mary? Beer? I am not a diner aficionado but the food was legit. I had the steak and cheese sandwich. It was a nice portion, but not giant. The bun was the best part. Soft, chewy, and fresh. This place looked like it would be great for breakfast/lunch. On the positive, the staff was friendly and the place looked pretty clean. The bathrooms were clean, as well. Now onto the reason I only gave three stars: the service was lacking; it must' have taken over 20 minutes for our food to be served, and there were only two other parties in the diner besides us. The rest of my family said their food was fine, but my pancakes were burned and very dry. I would give this place another try in the hopes that the service is a little quicker and my pancakes are not overcooked. read more

We had smash burgers, chicken tenders, haddock, and hand cut French fries. The food was amazing- juicy, flavorful burgers, fresh rolls, tomatoes, and lettuce, crispy fries. Kudos to the cook! The dining car built in 1954 is the perfect, unique dining location. Be sure to ask about the history of the car. Our server was helpful, prompt, and precise. My wife and I have been going here for decades, back when it used to be 'Plain Janes' to present. Food is good, waitstaff is always pleasant. Why only 2 stars? Well, after being seated and served coffee promptly, (it was not busy, we were there long before the usual Sunday morning rush), we waited 30 minutes for a single pancake and an egg breakfast special. Several other parties seated after us were served their orders before us. Maybe our waitress didn't put our order in? Mistakes happen, we'd be ok with that, but when we asked after 30 minutes were were told there were 7 tickets before ours, it would be out soon. Not true, and insulting. Topping off our visit was the $30 tab for two simple breakfasts. No Bloody Mary's or mimosas, I had a juice and the missus had a chocolate milk in addition to one cup of coffee. Yikes! read more

My husband and I wanted to go out to breakfast. We heard good things about the North Station so we decided to go. My first impression when we entered was the fun 50s and 60s colors throughout the restaurant. Everything was immaculately clean even the chrome. My husband had the spicy sausage gravy over a biscuit that just came out of the oven. He absolutely loved it! I spotted Monte Cristo on the daily special with homemade baked as a side. I thoroughly enjoyed it. All in all the food was great, the waitress was personable and the decor was fun. So I will give it 5 stars read more

We were ok with the 30 minute wait to be seated, even though we were told the wait was 15 minutes. It took near 10 minutes to get a visit from our waitress. After waiting 50 minutes for our breakfast to arrive and watching 5 tables seated after us get their food, we were informed that our food was done except we needed to wait an additional 15 more minutes for our home fries. This means that our food would sit out back somewhere for at least 15 minutes. How fresh would this be???? We decided to change our orders to sandwiches because waiting over an hour for eggs is already absurd! The waitress returned to tell us the food was already cooked and just waiting for potatoes, are you sure you want to change your order? I said yes. She didn't seem happy. After another 10 minutes, I got up and told the waitress we had to leave and that we would pay for we already had. She got another women I assume the manager, who told me I had to pay for the other food I ordered since it was almost done. I told her the waitress told me it was done but I had to 15 minutes for our home fries were cooking. I told her you have 3 choices, take the money for what I already ate or I will pay nothing or she can call the police. She told me, it wasn't right but took $10 from me. But she was ok with me being told 3 times that my food was done except potatoes but no one attempted to bring any food out to us. No one apologized or said anything until nearly 1 hour went by waiting for our order. The whole time I stood there, I witnessed another customer send their food back 3 times! By the way, I am in food service management. What isn't right is that she seems to have some position of authority, has absolutely no positive customer service and as bad as finding employees is, this place would be better off without her bad attitude. NEVER DID SHE EVEN TRY TO APOLOGIZE FOR THE ABSURD LONG WAIT FOR EGGS AND TOAST. What kind of cooks do you hire that cook an entire meal knowing they don't have the final product to put it all together and then let your meal sit there while they decide they need to cook potatoes. We left after being there for 1 hour and 40 minutes and our food was still not served, even though it was either done or nearly done. read more

Very shady place~ We ordered two meals that come with sides. Didn't want real syrup but the waitress talked us into it. Charged $2 for real syrup, cheddar in my scrambled eggs, hash brown and fruit cup that comes with the $10.50 meal.....Food was okay, although my scrambled eggs were over cooked. Doesn't really matter if food is good though if you're going to be deceiving and try to charge extra for everything that comes with it. Funny thing is I didn't even want the meal waitress said better deal to order the meal as then you get toast and your side with it. Gave me three choices for my side. I chose the fruit cup and charged $1.50 for that too...... read more
