I'm rather embarrassed that, after my many many visits to the Broken Barrel, I haven't shared my review until now. First off, if you're looking for good food keep going but if your looking for GREAT FOOD then you've found the right place! The Broken Barrel is the best kept secret of Stanfield, Or and the perfect stop for whatever you're looking for; brunch (the Ultimate Bloody Mary is my FAV!) with a girlfriend or grandma, dinner date with SO, or post work day drinks with your buddies! Martha is friendly, super down to earth and runs a great establishment! The whole menu is wonderful and you can tell she takes a lot of pride in her dishes. I love trying new items and look forward to the specials every time I come in. That being said if you find yourself in the area and contemplating "the drive" to the bigger cities, don't make the mistake in passing this place up!! Hands down the BEST burger in the Hermiston / Pendleton area! Actually In my opinion, the best burger anywhere. Really? Yes. Definitely worth the trip to Stanfield. Or if you're traveling down I-84. I ordered the Cowboy Burger and my wife ordered the Mushroom Burger. I ordered mine with a salad. She ordered her's with fries. The salad was good - and the portion size was large. There were plenty of fries for both of us. I was pleased to see that they had local brew Kolsch from Ordinance Brewing (Boardman) on tap. We found the staff to be very friendly and attentive. Stopped in the check the place out for future dinner club gatherings. It's a nice enough little bar, but one visit was more than enough. Service was fast and friendly. The beer I ordered was served in a mason jar, kinda tacky in my opinion. The food came out of the kitchen in a very short time after ordering. That was nice to see. But it wasn't good to say the least. I had the Paradise burger, it was bland and sloppy from grease and the sauce. Hard to eat as it just squirted out of the sides of the bun. The lettuce was wilted and the "ham slice" was a super thin piece of processed lunch meat. My biggest bitch about this burger was the patty size. It was small.... I don't know what it might have weighed, but it wasn't much. More importantly, it didn't fit the chibatta bun it was served on. At least a third of the bun was left in the plate. My wife had the Mushroom burger, and it was pretty much the same story, bland, greasy and not appealing. She couldn't finish it, leaving about a third of it on the plate. Regarding the environment, it was very loud it seemed for such a small space. And I could have sworn we were in Australia for a while, having to swat all the flies. They can do better.... read more

I have been here a few times now, mostly for lunch, and few tomes for dinner. Their food is great, I really like their cheese sticks. They are not breaded like normal, I think they use something similar to a wonton wrapper. I love their burgers, they seem to always do something a bit different than most other bars, which is great. They have good beer on tap and the owner is nice and helpful. They have been really good with us and my kids. I will definitely be coming back again. read more

Delicious. I had the mushroom and Swiss with potatoes salad and hubby had the tequila lime burger. Our fav was the mushroom and Swiss but both were very good. Well cooked, juicy, great flavor and local beef. Nice country ambiance with old country music that fit the style. Workers were very friendly and service was fantastic. Broken Barrel was a much welcome discovery after sitting in the Pilot station parking lot off I-84 trying to choose the lesser of two evils; McDonalds or Cinnabon for lunch. I looked in Maps to see if there was anything else nearby. Aside from a Denny's, Broken Barrel popped up. No menu I could find but previous reviews seemed overwhelming positive. The outside looks like your average small town dive bar. This is not a diss on dive bars. The little, unassuming spots are often a town's best kept secret and Broken Barrel is no exception! I had the GrownUp Grilled Cheese. Three cheeses, sourdough bread, bacon, and (whhaaa?!) FRIED BASIL! Perfectly toasted with amazing flavor. My husband had the "Double the Bacon. Double the Cheese" burger special. Thick slices of cheddar on top of, what is honestly, the best beef I have eaten. I've eaten a variety of small farm Angus, purchased my own cows, etc. Broken Barrel uses only local beef and it is incredible. My husband said it is "the best burger I've had all year." I had a Kolsch to drink and he tried the Whipped Vodka Root Beer float special. Our total was $30 for good sized plates of food and two drinks. Almost all plates, the giant special burger aside, are under $10. Service was great. Ambiance was mellow. Building was clean and the AC was on, making for a comfortable experience. If you are anywhere near Hermiston or passing by on I-84, stop in Stanfield. Treat yourself to good, real food. Thank you Broken Barrel for being there. You saved us from Cinnabon sugar coma or post-McD's shame. Perfect end to a perfect weekend road trip. read more

This place has super friendly staff and great bar selections. They have more than what's offered on the menu, so don't be shy to ask! I love the crispy chicken salad and the burger with peanut butter! (Can't remember exactly what it's called) Also the prime rib on the weekends is very good, super juicy and delicious. The owner really cares about her business and food. Probably the best American food around, price and flavor. Fresh ingredients and you can really taste the time and love in their food. Been meaning to stop in to try this place for awhile. The reviews seem to be great & I was intrigued. We tried the fried pickles & the crunch was amazing. They were missing something though that made them a little bland, maybe a little spice to the batter or a different pairing sauce with a kick would have made them over the top fantastic. I had the chicken Parmesan sandwich & it was excellent. If there's one thing this place knows how to do is fry stuff. The crunch was spectacular, no soggy chicken here. Flavorful sauce, plenty of gooey mozzarella, soft bread. Just perfect. Side salad wasn't anything to write home about but the veggies were fresh. Husband enjoyed his tequila lime burger. We were traveling through town, after driving all day, we were hungry and thirsty. This was the first place we saw, so we stopped. Boy O' boy, Am I glad we did! Wasn't sure what I would find after I checked in to Comfort Inn & Suites in Hinkle/South Hermiston but after reading the reviews decided to give it a try. I had the burger, with tater tots and a salad and ordered a burger for my dog too. Yes, my dog is a tad spoiled but she's my fur child and deserves it! She gave it 4 paws up. Was trying to find something different and better in the area that wasn't fast food or mexican food. Found reviews for this place and decided to give it a shot. I'm really glad i did, because this is probably the best place to get a burger in this area. I got their special which was a burger with peanut butter, bbq sauce, sriracha and bacon (got mine without sriracha) and it was really good. Their fries were really well seasoned and people there were really nice. If you're in the Hermiston area and want something different, I'd highly recommend taking the few extra minutes to try here. read more

It's been awhile since I've been and so far not impressed, got here and I get they are busy but wouldn't even put our name on a wait list. Told anywhere from 30 to 40 min and have to just sit and wait. Since we didn't want to eat outside in the wind we were told we couldn't even sit at any of the outside tables. We left . As we were leaving waitress sarcastically told told other costumers that we didn't want to wait the 15 or 20 mins for a table. Not just standing outside in the wind. Don't think I'll be back! We both had burgers. The fries were amazing and the beer was cold. Martha offered us some fabulous homemade dessert but we passed since we were stuffed. Seen many posts about this restaurant & decided to give it try. Customers service was really good, greeted upon arrival with a friendly face. Being new to the place I wasnt sure what to order. The waitress was nice enough to give me her personal input on food & drinks & surprised me with a great tasting mixed drink.
