Brogino's is a good solid restaurant. For Italian food, it's one of the only ones in the North Redondo Beach area that services the residential neighborhood that has an authentic home feel to it. The service is good, and the food portions are huge. The prices and quality are good. The service is friendly, 'tho I think it has a family styled business staffing, where if/when they're busy I can see them being short staffed and overwhelmed, but come when it's not traditional dining hours and it's seamless. I'd recommend the "complete" dinners when given the option, as you get the home made Minestrone Soup as well as a fresh Garden Salad. I almost always take home leftovers from here, so when you get the complete meal, those give a great variety to the meal and allows you to take home even more. The spaghetti with meat sauce, 'tho a basic dish, is done perfectly. I walked by others eating their pizza and that's inspired me to try it the next time based on scent and appearance. Terrible terrible terrible. I can only speak about the service because we didn't not want to give them our business. After this failed attempt to dine here, we talked to other people who said the food was disgusting. So take that as you may. With COVID they have outdoor seating and we noticed empty tables on our way in. We informed the server inside that we were there with a reservation. We said the name and he didn't acknowledge us.. not even an "okay". He continued doing what he was doing. Awkwardly, we stood outside waiting to be seated. Employees walked by us multiple times and didn't acknowledge us. 10 mins passed by with not one word not even how much longer (one server looked like the manager). By this time we were completely put off by this experience. We decided to leave and stopped an employee walking by. We handed back the menu and said we were no longer interested in dinning there. The response was an annoyingly "okay". We are paying customers and that was the response?! I can't believe an establishment treated us this way. Hopefully this isn't the case for other people, but we will NOT go back. read more

Tony: Your statement that I was "endangering" customers is a complete and total falsehood. You know that I always practice social distancing, that masks were required only during ingress and egress, and that I always brought my mask. While there may have been 1 or 2 instances where I neglected to put it on while using the rest room, every other regular at the bar made the same mistake on occasion, also. Your manager Michael Boutis' assertion that I was a "danger" is a lie and a manifest attempt to deflect attention from a truly serious accident(caused by Michael) which could have caused injury to patrons and a ruinous lawsuit to Broginos. On June 22, 2020, at approximately 7:00 P.M., a friend Yasmine and I were eating in your dining room. Suddenly, without any warning, a hanging flower pot at the booth next to us fell with a loud crash onto the table, sending dirt and shards of ceramic material all over the table and booth, which, mercifully, were unoccupied. The pot fell because it was improperly connected to a rickety trellis(a likely violation of Redondo Beach's Building and Safety Codes, which Michael, as general manager, is responsible for compliance with) instead of to a secure column or beam. Michael ran over in hysterics and, instead of asking whether anyone had been hurt or needed assistance, he hurled baseless accusations at my friend and me, accusing us in the most vulgar terms of having caused this unfortunate accident, when, in reality, we were nowhere near the hanging pot, which, again, Michael had not secured properly. Michael then ran away, without offering any assistance. Yasmine, a proud Persian woman, followed Michael to demand, rightly, an apology for and retraction of his foul, insulting accusations, but Michael, in the most cowardly way, refused to acknowledge her and ran behind the bar, apparently seeking support from his various barfly friends. The next day when I showed up, Michael told me to take my business to BAC Street bar across the street, and that, after 12+ years of my being a regular and generous customer, I was no longer welcome. Yasmine called a week later to again ask for an apology and to speak to you, but Michael refused to apologize or provide contact information. Yasmine and I found your number, and I believe Yasmine has spoken to you; I mailed you a letter describing these events, but you have not acknowledged this, which is why I am writing this report. Since I am no longer welcome(after 12+ years of loyal patronage), I will take my business elsewhere. But I believe Michael's manifestly unprofessional and immature behavior needs to be brought to the attention of the community, and especially to Broginos' patrons. read more

I grew up on amazing Italian food on the East Coast. But since transplanting to California 2 decades ago, it's been a struggle. I have had some bad Italian food but nothing like this. It is damn near inedible. How do you make Mozzarella sticks and Calamari bad?! Terrible breading, Terrible product, Terrible execution. The Calamari was thin sticks similar to the Mozzarella sticks. Service and ambiance was stunning in outdoor environment. The soup, bean salad, and garlic bread accompanied my scallop parmigiana really well. I have had chicken and eggplant parmigiana, but never had a seafood one. It was super delicious with a lot of great flavors. My wife had a seafood fettuccine with a red garlic wine sauce. We came here for a belated birthday celebration. He's mentioned wanting to try this place in the past based on its extensive menu so we finally tried it. He ordered the angel hair pasta with scallops and shrimp. I thought it tasted the way that kind of dish normally tastes, but he thought it lacked flavor. The minestrone that came with it was salty and the salad had too much dressing. The garlic bread, however, was very good. We both ate about two slices. I ordered the lasagna. It was very good but quite a small portion for $16. Brogino's seems like a quaint and charming neighborhood restaurant that is popular with locals and families. This used to be my go to Italian restaurant pre-covid so excited to return. Service and staff friendliness are still fantastic. But... First, prices have increased ~50%. While I understand restaurants have been hit hard by covid, but 50%?! Second, they used to have great soup and salad with an entree. Especially the soup. Not anymore. Their main course (shrimp and scallops) was still excellent, but with the huge price increase and poor soup/salad, I doubt we'll be back. Quite unfortunate. read more

Stopped by with a friend for dinner. Sat at the bar and was greeted by a fellow named Mike. Very friendly, personable, and attentive. I ordered the "Something Different" and he got the chicken parm both a la carte. Portions were generous and food delicious. I greatly enjoyed my meal but definitely going to get the chicken parm next time. The vibe of the restaurant is has that classic Italian restaurant feeling mixed with the homeliness of a mom & pop joint, with a dash of Virginia yard sale to it. Having driven by this restaurant many times, we looked forward to finally trying it at the recommendation of a good friend. There is a tiny area next to Brogino's with a few spaces, but also plenty of parking on the street. The interior is reminiscent of the quaint cozy Italian restaurants in Chicago. We were greeted warmly, and given a nice table. The menu is incredibly extensive with many variations. Of note, there are numerous combinations. If you can't find something that whets your appetite, you must not be hungry. There is a full bar menu and good wine selection. Omar was our excellent server. Make sure you come hungry because you'll start off with delicious garlic bread, followed by minestrone soup and salad if you order a full dinner. My wife had scallops and shrimp in a lemon caper sauce with angel hair pasta. I was looking forward to the combo veal and scallop parmigiana with a side of pasta and meat sauce. The portions were very generous, and the prices very reasonable. We were too full to sample their desserts, but next time. All in all, we had a very good experience at Brogino's and look forward to a return visit. read more

His name is Kamai and he was such a sweet gentleman! I can't forget about the bartender, Omar! I requested something really sweet and he did a fantastic job making it! Just dined at Broginos and it's pretty overpriced. We were charged $21.00 per drink (cosmo and lemon drop with Ketel one). Seems pretty excessive imho. FWIW be warned. Food was barely acceptable (too salty and bland), however service was slow and lame. Our FIRST waiter was clearly never a waiter and didn't know the first thing what to do. When he finally did arrive he asked us what food we wanted to order before anything, like drinks or appetizers. Our SECOND waiter delivered drinks. Our THIRD and final waiter delivered the food. I asked him for silverware when he delivered my food but it never came which forced me to ask another waiter who quickly helped out. So, in summary, one $25 a la carte + one $35 "complete meal" (with soup and salad) + 4 drinks at $21 comes to $179.00 plus a $26.89 tip = $205.85. Anyway, the drink prices seemed excessive imho, especially considering the relatively poor service and unremarkable overpriced food. The last waiter said they just raised their drink prices recently. Well, perhaps it would be kind to inform your regular customers of that little fact beforehand. read more

We were really excited to try this place. They sat us within an acceptable amount of time. Brought us bread. Then, never came back to the table. We sat for 20 minutes while other people around us were being greeted and drink orders taken. Both my wife and I used to be servers and understand it gets busy, but it wasn't and the people who were sat after us got their orders taken and we were ignored. We ended up walking out without even an acknowledgment that we were there for anything other than their their stale bread. read more

A nice comeback for this place! Ate @ Brogino's last night for the 1st time since sometime in the mid-1990's. At the time I had a really good experience. However, I never got a chance to go back before I started hearing that the place had gone downhill. Fast forward 2 & 1/2 decades, and my friend surprised me by suggesting it last night. When I expressed said surprise, she said that they've now gotten better again, so I was glad to give it a clean slate and try going back. My friend was right. Atmosphere was still great, service was prompt & friendly, & the food (I had shrimp parm) was delicious (& plentiful), as was the soup, salad, & garlic bread that came with the full dinner. My fiancé and I come here often because it's a 2 minute walk from our home and the lemon drop martinis are to die for. The Good- cozy feel good atmosphere, great music selection, food is good, I've never had watery or mushy pasta, fiancé claims the fettuccine is "the bomb". I always order a complete meal because I really enjoy their soup, the salad is hit or miss. I've read a lot of complaints about the breaded meal selection (veal, eggplant etc and lamb) so I've stayed away from those dishes, but the pasta is solid. The bad- I noticed that depending on what time of day you visit you will get treated differently, or, maybe they've read enough bad reviews about their service and have decided to be friendlier? Not sure, but I have gone in and felt unwelcome and rushed, but we've shown up an hour before closing. And then there's times where they're extremely friendly and attentive, but I've shown up 2 hours before closing. I believe the owner is "friendly" enough and polite, he's not a kiss ass, in your face overly friendly, and I'm ok with that, as long as he doesn't mess up my lemon drop martini. :) read more

Inside is dimly lit, and the booths and tables can accommodate several guests but are really set up for couples looking to sneak away for an intimate dinner for two. Came to dinner made reservations online got to the place , waited 10 min for someone to come to the door we gave him the name he leaves and comes back 15 min later for them to tell us they were at capacity. Not to mention they were rude af didn't offer an Apology or offer us to wait until I asked but at that point the guys vibe was not friendly . We left ... So then since we were starving I tried to make a new Reservation on open table but since Broginos had already accepted my reservation I was not able to make a new one. I calles them back to ask if they can decline it on their system and the guy was even ruder on the phone talking over me and being defensive .
