    a jar of pickles

We had a wonderful experience at Brodie's beef. Everything we had was delicious, the hot dogs and fries are especially amazing. It was an inviting place and the owner even went as far to walk around to pick up trash and ask us how everything was, he even gave us a free jar of their Chicago style hot Giardiniera because we told him we came from Texas. Will definitely come back here when I'm in town visiting family

Upon arrival we were greeted with the cutest smile and kindness. The food smelled delicious and I instantly knew what I was going to order. An Italian combo with hot peppers and cheese. My wife ordered the corn dog and fries with an order of the fried pickles. The pickles flavor was great, however the cut consistency was off the mark which caused the cook to be equally inconsistent. That would be the only complaint about the meal. My Italian combo was delicious and the fries are the nice I forgot to take a picture of my food because it had a date with my mouth. I'll be back soon.

One thing can be said for this place. The quality hasn't changed although the owner and management seems to change a lot. Dogs burgers and fries are great. Gyros... ehh. All in all it's alright. And down the road! Easy good bite! Definitely stop in if your by the place.

Saturated bun. Cheese sauce thin and watery. Inedible. So wet it was leaking from bag.

Not impressed. Slimy. Greasy. Beef was below average. Fries were okay. Go down the street to Culver's.

That said, the overall experience didn't match the price point. We went today around 2:00 PM as a party of two, and service was slow despite only about five other occupied tables. The biggest issue: we were initially brought the wrong bill (another table's), and after about 15 minutes, we ended up having to find someone to correct it. Food was average for the cost. The fish tacos were fine but nothing special. The meatloaf was a single slice with less than a cup of potatoes--felt sparse on the plate and could have used another side or component to make it feel like a complete entrée. With one glass of wine, we were around $60, which would be easier to justify if the service and food execution were sharper. One note: while it's "on the lake," the views are fairly limited at lake level--you mostly see piers and the cruise boats--so for us the main draw was the ambiance inside. Unfortunately, the ambiance couldn't make up for average, overpriced food and a service miss. If you go, go for the atmosphere--just set expectations accordingly on value and service.
