This used to be one of my go-to donut shops years ago, but haven't been in awhile. Perhaps my tastes have changed, or the quality has diminished, or a bit of both, but after my visit here this morning, I can't say that I'm as impressed with this shop anymore. First, I showed up just after 9am on Monday, and their selection was already more than half depleted. Granted, it was National Donut Day, so it's possible they got ransacked a little, but you would think a donut shop owner would be aware of this and add to the daily production as needed. I got two donuts, one Old-Fashioned, and a blueberry cake. The old fashioned was so moist that the edge pieces fell off of it as it went into the bag. That's not necessarily a good thing, because too moist means it probably wasn't cooked enough. When I broke it open, you could see a solid ring around the inside that proved my suspicion. The blueberry donut was better, still moist, but not undercooked. The flavor of the blueberry was subtle, but slightly chemical. This probably comes from a blueberry mix instead of actual blueberries, which is fine for most donut shops I suppose. But when compared to blueberry donuts from shops like Simone's at Stearns and Palos Verde, this donut can't match up. Lots of people rave about the coffee here, which I just don't get. Just because they offer an extensive selection doesn't mean that any of it is good. The brand of coffee they serve is one of those boil-in-a-bag brands, where there is zero nuance to how it's made. Having 20+ selections of crap coffee is still crap coffee. Adding 40 different types of processed creamer doesn't improve that situation at all. Vanilla flavored coffee is a travesty in itself. Adding sugary, vanilla creamer on top of that is a crime against humanity. You don't want coffee--you want desert in a cup. Starbucks does a better job at that. There's definitely better donuts in town, and most certainly better coffee. Recreation Coffee on Long Beach Blvd has great coffee and I believe some decent baked goods. KB Donuts on 4th and Ximeno has much better donuts, will have plenty to last, and the people who own it are generally more friendly. read more

By far, my Absolute FAVORITE place to grab some coffee! I've been coming here for 2 years and I can't stop coming! It's almost like an addiction. It's also near the beach. They have a wide range of coffee flavors as well as their coffee creamers! Coffee isn't even burnt like most places. I also got the jalapeño turkey and cheese croissant and I LOVE IT. The bestest and freshest donuts and croissants; I've been eating these on a regular basis for a few years now and can't get tired of it.

I came here on an early Sunday morning in the LBC after picking my iced coffee from Makai a mile away. Anyways, coming here for parking was a b*tch. Every parking spot in this block was taken and No! it wasn't people going to the donut shop either. I parked right across the street where the 7-11 is and needed to get cash back (keep in mind, Broadway Donuts is cash only). We bought a half dozen that cost around $9.00. The choices were: Chocolate Bar, Strawberry Frosted, Chocolate Frosted, Sugar Glazed. The Sprinkles and the Blueberry were my favorites. (Due fact I can have any Blueberry donut as long as its made fresh) but this was delicious and did not disappoint. The other donuts were okay nothing special about them, they were just your typical Mom and Pop fried types, they're not too bad. They are slightly pricey then what I normally pay for an ordinary half dozen. The cool part about Broadway's is the coffee choices! There is about 15 or more coffee flavors to chose from the pump! Not only that, they offer 25 or more flavor coffee creams to sweeten' your roast. Coffe-mate, Bailey's and International Delights are the brands you'll see at the coffee station. I recommend this place who are just in for typical old fashioned donuts and for people who want different coffee flavors everyday of the week, with their wide variety of coffee and creamer flavors. My new coffee go-to every morning. Just a quick skate away, Broadway Donuts has a huge selection of flavored Gavina coffees and equally impressive array of Coffeemate creamers. It's a very simple concept and I never have to wait more than 60 seconds in line to drop my $1.50 for a 16-oz. cup of Java. It's also a bit of hangout with a few people chatting at the outdoor tables, but I'm always too tired in the morning to open my eyes, let alone strike up a conversation with a stranger. I finally had an opportunity to stop here for coffee, being that this place in my area comes highly recommended and on my way to the office. Wow, when I first walked in I was overwhelmed by the variety. I scanned the flavors of coffee with even more choices for creamers available. I went with the butterscotch-flavored coffee and a caramel-flavored creamer. Unfortunately they were out of chocolate croissants by 9:30 so I just went with a savory jalapeno turkey and cheese; a good-sized croissant. I paid a total of $5.50. The owner was pleasant, just don't mention that sugar is bad, as did the lady ahead of me in line who brought it up. Come on now, you can't really insinuate that to a guy who owns a donut shop. I was next in line and he was still a tad peeved but I understood where he was coming from. I gave my two cents that moderation was key and went on my merry way. As far as parking, I was lucky there was a spot available by the entrance. If there hadn't been, I would have just skipped it. This is about my favorite donut shop in LA county! And thats because the owners are very friendly and considerate...also they make blueberry filled powdered donuts - so rare and delicious! The last time I drove to Long Beach I made sure to preorder and pickup a dozen blueberry donuts for myself. I froze 9 for later. These are the most expensive dozen I've ever bought and nowhere near worth the price. The donuts leave a film of grease and butter in your mouth and instantly caused indigestion which no donut has ever made me feel. I don't know how in the world this place got 4.5 stars but don't buy the hype. The best donuts I've ever had!!! It's a Mom andPop's store. They are very friendly. Their busy early mornings and they focus on getting your order ready and getting you on your way. I have tried just about every kind of donut and Turnover they sell. I'm never disappointed. I really like the maple twist or maple bar, I also like the glazed twist. First time here and I loved it. They are cash only so be aware. They don't have any signs for each of the donuts but the guy was super nice and told me what each one was. I ended up with the maple and chocolate glazed. The maple tasted amazing. Not too sweet. The chocolate was also good! Both were fresh and soft. They seemed to be making them throughout the day so you can always wait for a fresh batch. Their coffee on the other hand... I've never seen many different types or flavors in one place at once. Popped in for the first time after deciding to go for a sunrise walk and I'm glad I did - even at 530am the small shop was brightly lit with a steady stream of regular customers, and the gentleman behind the counter eager to please. I tried the buttermilk bar as I'd seen several people rating it highly here but it was a bit too rich for me, so I think I'll try something lighter next time. My partner had the blueberry cake donut which they loved, just the right amount of stodgy, fluffy and sweet. The coffee was hot and tasted freshly made not stale, and well priced. Cute Mom and Pop store located in a corner unit at one end of the Long Beach gayborhood, complete with the rainbow sidewalk markings right in front. Upon walking in I saw the most impressive display of different International Delight coffee creamers I've ever seen in a donut shop. I felt like I was at the supermarket. The donuts here are varied in flavors and texture. You go from fluffy texture, as in their Boston cream, to more firm cake-like texture, like plain and brown sugar glazed. Prices are typical for small Cambodian Mom and Pop stores at $1 each or $5.75 for half-dozen, and no tax. There's a table on the sidewalk right outside the shop but no interior seating. I think this is a fabulous shop to buy a few donuts and take a quiet relaxing stroll through Long Beach's small gayborhood - it would have to be a daytime stroll anyway because this place closes at 1PM. read more

Love this lil donut shop right in my neighborhood. I get the old fashion maple it's always fresh and the cake is deliciousness. My son likes the twists. I recently tasted the plain glaze and I think it'll be my new go too.. no complaints. Huge selection of creamers for your coffee. The 2 ppl who work there are simple, friendly not too much conversation they're just doing their jobs. I think all the donuts are a buck each worth it.
