My wife's mom was craving donuts so stopped by one of the few donut shops near central Long Beach that is open past 3 pm. As expected, the selection of donuts was limited but was still able to clean out the six remaining long johns in a half dozen box ($8.50 for six, $1.50 each single...they accept credit cards). The nice young man manning the counter threw in a couple of extra yeast donuts, which made Mom very happy!

Just a few blocks away from my juice bar. Salute to yall Coffee is affordable AND tastes good. I always get a large black coffee.Donuts are ALWAYS on point. My favorites are the maple old-fashioned donut and chocolate cake donut with sprinkles. All nice folks here. Rock on!!

Craving a donut, this was the first spot I seen. Across the street from Quality Inn. The staff were super friendly, I got two plain glazed donuts. They were delicious. Each donut came w/ 2 mini donut holes. Definitely recommend.

Manna Donuts gets a 5/5 stars for their natural juices and smoothies and delicious pastries. This little store is the epitome of don't judge a book by its cover. It's a humble little mom and pop donut spot but their smoothies, juices, and pastries all taste freshly made. My brothers tried the coconut smoothie and taro boba smoothie and everything tasted so fresh, even the boba was warm and fresh. I got the carrot orange juice and I loved how natural it tasted. We also ordered a kolache with sausage in it and the bread was also so soft and fresh, definitely good quality. The owner was so kind and friendly she even gave us two free donuts! We took everything to go as there is no seating in the small shop. If you're in long beach and want to support a small, friendly mom and pop tea and pastry shop, then try out Manna Donuts.

I can't believe I haven't post a review for them yet. Every month when I come to Long Beach for work, I make sure I stop by here to eat their kolaches. Best I've had. The jalapeno and cheese one is perfection; the bread that it's in is so soft. Their donuts are also some of the best around-- always soft and delicious. They're so good that I even had them ordered for my wedding.

Upon entering, the two women in the donut shop were so helpful and happy that we were there to eat and kill some time. They definitely made our first visit special and gave us some tips on how to order our coffees since we didn't want to be wired. I ordered a ham and cheese breakfast croissant, and it was yummy. Not flaky, which made it even better. I also ordered a regular vanilla traditional Vietnamese coffee. It was perfect and not too strong. Also, the vanilla flavoring was subtle and not over the top. I also got a side of a strawberry shortcake donut, which was yummy but a bit sweet. Overall, great donut shop, clean, and great service. We will def be back!

Stopped by on 4th of July (actually, super stoked they were open) and tried a new donut, the Mango Sticky Rice donut. $5 for the donut and not sure, maybe a premium charge on top of it because of what it was? Final total on the register was $8.88 (without tip) for one donut and no drinks. That is 3 apple fritters at another spot, which I DO NOT mind paying, if there is something high quality or fantastic about the donut I am eating, which this was not. It was a simple raised yeast donut base with a scoop of rice on top, green food dye, fresh mango chunks, and some coconut shavings. I thought there would be something on the inside (more mango filling or a cream) or something different about the dough (tiny mango pieces inside, a different spice), but it was like another plain donut with things placed on top. One of those things being simple rice. Definitely felt like the donut didn't justify the price. What if I bought 3 different donuts and a drink. Would it be $25? Not enough of a flavor difference for me to pay that next time.

It's weird because I didn't think bad of the donuts themselves and could stand to eat them. I will say after having them on two prior occasions, they made an impression on me when they participated in the yearly Belmont Shore chocolate festival. I'm glad to see this is more of least a normal donut shop with real normal donuts. I'm tired of these new fancy donut shops specializing in "creative" donuts with all kind of crazy toppings like every sweet cereal you grew up with priced like at $5.00 a donut or something. I go in and can tell this is one of those Asian donut shops that opened all over down here in SoCal. I think they might be Cambodian, nothing against Asians making donuts, they're the ones that started using the pink boxes we all know. Asians make the best fried chicken, so why not donuts? I look at all the donuts in the cases and they seem like all the familiar ones. I order a dozen and just point to the ones I want. The even have bear claws. I got one of those just for me. There's croissant stuff too. Service is friendly and efficient. The interior is a little dated but I'm here for donuts, not a fancy date or something. I get the donuts and eat that bear claw on my way back to the hotel to meet up with my crew. Just look at the donuts--they're beautiful. Bright colors, creative toppings, great presentation. Unfortunately, that's where the positives end. Everything here feels like it's built for looks rather than taste. The whipped cream was thick, hard, and almost waxy--I was expecting something light, fluffy, and creamy. We tried several donuts, including the Boo-Berry, which didn't even compare to a basic cake donut from an average shop. The biggest red flag? Our 8-year-old granddaughter. She immediately picked the rainbow donut, got excited... and only ate about a third of it. That alone spoke volumes. It's rare for a kid that age to not finish a donut. The only one that was somewhat decent was the banana cream cheesecake--but even that didn't taste anything like cheesecake. It was barely passable, mainly because of the banana cream filling. Out of the four donuts we ordered, none were finished. Most had more than half left and ended up in the trash. Looking back, we probably should've taken the hint when we walked in and saw only one customer. Great concept and presentation, but the taste just doesn't match. Needless to say, we won't be returning.

As I entered the parking lot I witnessed a lady hanging out of the window of a car missing a rear bumper, cursing at a minivan that looked like it had recently been involved in a series of hit-and-run crimes. I'm unclear what occurred before I got there, but kept my head down and quickly parked and scurried inside. The entrance had cardboard on the ground laid out like some sort of Oscar the Grouch red carpet. There were two people sitting at the middle two tables with portable shopping carts filled with assorted belongings. The interior matched the rest of neighborhood with random stuff laid out on counter tops, and a general dirty feeling that made me consider whether I wanted to buy food here, but I was already inside. There was a single woman working the counter. She was polite and matter of fact. I had promised my kids donuts, so I ordered my box to go. While she used appropriate tongs to put them in the box, she didn't bother to fully close or seal the box. Just looking to get out of there as quickly as possible, I headed immediately back to my car but was followed by an unknown man shouting at me asking if I could spare a dollar. I quickly fidgeted for my keys and pulled the door closed and locked it behind me. This was at 9am. I cannot imagine this place late at night. The donuts were basic and not overly sweet, more of a fried bread. My kids ate a few bites of each but it wasn't worth the stress of getting them.

Knead closes at 1pm on weekdays (Monday closed, till 9pm Sat & Sun), and being approximately 30 minutes to close, two boxes of assorted donuts were left to choose from. Knead's Dubai Chocolate donut was a whopping $8! I tried to haggle the price down, both individually or with another donut, to no avail. No way was I planning to buy a whole box, either. Prices vary around $6-$8. Aware prices have gone up everywhere, that's still too much, in my summation, for donuts. In addition, not being a big donut guy, I don't foresee being a frequent customer. Knead Donuts does sell beautifully crafted donuts, which would satisfy even the most critical sugar junkie, but with premium pricing attached to each donut, can't justify the money spent, for my needs.
