Came here for happy hour on Sunday. We were seated right away so that was nice. While walking to our table you could see how dirty the floor was. It could use a quick clean. My husband ordered a burger, which he said wasn't good. He said Burger King would have been better. The burger was super thin and overcooked. The tater tots were fine. I ordered the pork tacos off the happy hour menu. They were really good. No complaints. My son ordered the bacon mac and cheese. Not only was it tiny for $9.50 it wasn't very good. My other kid ordered a side of french fries, which was $6. It seems like this place is hit or miss with the food quality. Also, the service was really slow. This might be a place to come for happy hour drinks if you are shopping at Keizer Station, but other than that I wouldn't come back again. read more

We made reservations for my friends birthday so they brought out donuts on the house. They were super delicious and had a raspberry drizzle on top. I was very disappointed with the Smoked Salmon Benedict I got because the egg was not poached but cooked all the way through. I also wasn't the biggest fan of the corn cake because it didn't stay together well with all the hollandaise sauce. The smoked salmon was full of flavor and had a good texture with a bit of crisp. I would definitely come to get the refillable mimosas (Bubbles for Every Bite) because it's only $13!! Our server was amazing, super attentive with the drinks and refillable mimosas. We were in the area and this place looked like a good dinner option since they have a wide selection of food to choose from. It was nice looking and it's a tavern so sports were on the TVs. Our server was friendly and the place was clean, including the restrooms. I would agree with others that the prices were a little high. The fish n tots were good, ,but the fish was a lot smaller than I'm used to. The remoulade was a nice touch though. I prefer my coleslaw a little sweeter but it was okay. They have the nice soft buns for the burgers and really good fries. The fondue app is good, but should be served with a spoon since that meat is hard to pull apart with just chips. Really enjoyed the flavor of it though. We were pretty satisfied with our food and service. read more

Definitely disappointed. The food/price ratio is ridiculous. We were originally going to take out but after starting an order told us we can't take out on happy hr. So we decided to stay. I got the happy hr bacon Mac and cheese and it was luke warm and a very small portion for 9.50. The bacon didn't taste like bacon and not a lot plus no breadcrumbs. The sauce was very minimal. My husband got the cheese burger and this was the saving grace. Cooked to his request of medium rare and very tasty. The tots were well cooked and not oily. Great burger for 9.50. We shared a fondue plate and were not impressed. The cheese came out in a ceramic dish that kept no heat and by piece 3/4 it had started to congeal. The bread tasted fresh and had good flavor. I don't think it was worth the 12.50. We had drink that were also 9.50 for happy hour and thought they were very basic. I got the rose 75 and he got a crushed basil drink. I got invited to dinner with a few of my coworkers and happily accepted, as I love trying new places. Upon walking in, the setup and decor of the restaurant was inviting and chill. I loved the lighting. I was greeted and found my table. They had already been there for about 20 minutes, so I had to hurry and look over the menu to find something to eat. I chose the Caesar salad and added grilled chicken. The dressing was very good, the croutons, not so much. They were homemade, but too soft, not baked enough. The chicken portion was small, even though it was an additional $7. I will say our service was great. Being a Friday evening, I expected it to be busier, but it wasn't. I think the price points are a little high for what it's worth. Some menu items were $25-30. If invited, I would go back, but probably not a place I would choose. read more

I feel bad that Brix in Keizer has some bad reviews! It seems like maybe this isn't a great spot for a restaurant that isn't fast food. I've been to the Brix in Portland a few times pre pandemic and always thought it was pretty good. My family went around 6:30 pm on a Saturday and it was mostly empty. Since it wasn't busy, service was pretty good! Two in our group had the stuffed chicken, which the server said was one of their most popular items. It looked bland and apparently also tasted bland. I had a southwest Quinoa salad with ranch and it was good! The happy hour menu looks good so I'd go back for that. read more

Pretty disappointing visit. The atmosphere is nice, except for the televisions on the walls. Staff was nice, but not very attentive. We had artichoke heart salads with steak (ordered medium rare). The salads arrived, but we couldn't find the artichokes and asked for the server to bring some. She did, which we appreciated. The salads had a ton of lettuce, but not much else in it. A little onion. A couple slices of cherry tomatoes. I couldn't taste any dressing on it, but it supposedly came with a vinaigrette. The steaks were significantly overcooked. No pink in them at all. Brix Tavern just opened this last week so my expectations were a little low since I know how things can go as a restaurant is getting off the ground. I was pleasantly surprised by everything at Brix during our first experience. The parking lot is ample and we were greeted and seated right away. The dining room is quite large and the indoor/outdoor patio is perfect for the unpredictable Oregon weather as it can be closed off, or opened up. Our server was friendly and our party of four enjoyed the evening! We shared a pepperoni pizza, to start, just so we could try it. The crust was chewy and crusty at the same time, the pizza sauce had fantastic flavor with a distinct basil flavor that I liked. The pizza was the perfect size for us to each have 2 small pieces. For our meal my husband and I shared the Chicken Cobb Salad and split the Classic Burger. I liked everything about both BUT for the price it all seemed a little too small. We had the tots as our chosen side and they were in a small white bowl. In my opinion, they should forego the esthetic of the bowl on the plate and add more tots, especially since the burger is on the smaller side. We all know how inexpensive fries and tots are, as a cost for a restaurant, and they would have customers who feel full and like they got a better deal. Drinks, too, were pricy. We're in Keizer, Oregon, guys...not an upscale Portland restaurant. The best value was the Brown Bag Beer my husband ordered. Bartender's choice, no hints as to what you may get. Literally served in a brown bag, this was my husband's favorite experience of the dinner. The dishes they serve were a wide variety so everyone in a group should be able to find something they could enjoy. This isn't some place we will visit on the regular because we don't see the value (price vs product) but if it's suggested by friends we will be happy to return. read more

Out and about looking for a place to eat dinner, my friends and I decided we'd try Brix because we'd heard good things about it. However, the day the three of us were there, the service was lacking (almost non-existent) and slow and the food we ordered was nothing special and fairly spendy at that. First time customer. Went with my office. Ordered the prime ribbon sandwich. It was so delicious. The Swiss fondue made that sandwich shine. The service was good our server made sure our drinks were full at all time. When we got there the place was empty so I was able to look around it was clean and well put together. Ambiance was very nice, clean, and comfy. Service was "fine". I got the Caprese pizza..... it was not good. More cheese than I expected which is fine. Tomatoes were cooked and it needed more balsamic. It was also under cooked for my taste. My husband got the fried chicken and mashed potatoes. That was amazing and I ended up eating half of his. Went to go try Brix Tavern for the first time and was left disappointed. First off was the ambiance of the place is loud and crowded. I mean granted it's a Tavern style restaurant... but I was immediately annoyed by the seating situation. The tables are very close to each other and felt claustrophobic. Secondly, the food choices are unimpressive. Deceived to go with the pasta primavera and added chicken. My food was very very bland, the pasta seemed over-boiled and chicken had no flavor whatsoever. I had to add salt and pepper to get some sort of flavor/seasoning. Lastly the price point doesn't seem to match the quality. Very disappointing experience, and probably won't go back. read more

My wife and I recently ate at Brix Tavern with high hopes of having a great meal. Those hopes were quickly dashed. First, we requested to not be seated in direct sunlight as it was a warm day. To my surprise the hostess tried to seat us at a table in the sun. We requested another table, and were sat directly adjacent to the bar. Ordering Service: We received water from our waiter, who then promptly disappeared for over 20 minutes, talking with customers at the bar that he apparently knew. In addition, it appeared as if he cannot multi-task, as he would carry one item at a time to each table. He even gave up on how to start a roll of paper for the order printer, saying out loud, "I don't know how to do this," tossing the roll into the printer, and leaving it for the busy bartender to tend to. Eventually, a waitress came by and asked if we had placed our order. We informed her that we had not, and it was only due to her intervention, as she sought out our server, that we were ultimately able to place our order. Food: I ordered chicken pot pie, which is one of my favorite dishes, when prepared well. My wife ordered prime rib. The chicken pot pie has potential as it has ample portions of carrots and potatoes and chicken. The cream base (roux), however, lacked flavor, and tasted bland like oatmeal. I ended up leaving over half of the order. My wife's prime rib lacked any flavor, either from a low grade of meat, or due to a lack of any spices/rubs used in preparation. Follow-up Service: The waiter never returned to our table to check on us, and therefore never refilled our drinks. Getting the check was another 20 minute wait after we completed the meal. Price: We left after ultimately receiving the check, remarking to each other that the meal was very poor, not worth $56.00. Side note: What makes the situation worse is that the kitchen manager/owner(?) was present at the bar, eating his own meal and visiting with only one table where he had friends. He failed to take note that we were left stranded at the beginning and end of the meal despite being in his line of sight, and never checked in with any of the other tables. read more

The food was delicious and plentiful! Our server was prompt and got our order as soon as the manager stopped talking to us lol! I got the Tomato Basil Bacon soup and a wedge salad. Both were fantastic. I asked them to hold the barbecue sauce off of the wedge salad. That just didn't sound good to me. My husband got the fish and chips and my daughter the chicken sandwich and they both loved there food too. They brought me a sundae for my birthday! We had good food here and loved sitting in the enclosed patio. I liked that it felt outside but was enclosed with windows. My husband and I both liked our meals and the fries were hot and crisp. My wife and I were in Keizer tonight and thought we'd give Brix a try. We walked in and stood at the front desk for a few minutes before the hostess, who had a piss poor attitude and the personality of a dead tree, decided to grace us by acknowledging our presence. She asked if we wanted to sit at the bar, at which point we said no, because my wife cannot sit in high chairs or barstools. We were then told that the only other table they had available was outside, which was complete nonsense; it wasn't that busy and there were plenty of empty tables in the dining room. No, you little snot, we're not going to sit outside in the 94 degree July weather. My wife stated that we would not be sitting outside and we were again told that outside was the only other option available. By now it was more than obvious they did not want our business, so rather than press the issue, I said we would simply go elsewhere, at which point we left and drove over to Casamigos, where we were treated like royalty and had fantastic dinner and drinks. Although I have no intention of going back, I do hope that Brix takes the time to train their employees on customer service, cuz what my wife and I experienced tonight ain't it. I also hope that the folks who did get tables tonight got better service than we did. I understand that they are new to the area, but that's no excuse for how we were treated this evening. In fact, you'd think a new business would want to strive to make a good first impression. I was hopeful for a new dining option in Keizer since we're in the area often, but I'd rather sit in line at Chik-fil-A than be treated so poorly. read more

If I could give this place less than 1 than one star I would based solely on the staff at the front door. My wife and I were walk ins and were met by two folks at the podium. The restaurant was MORE than half empty. There were at least 20 tables available. We were told that it was an hour long wait. I looked at the empty tables then the person then the tables again and she told me that she could seat us there but we won't get served because they only have three servers. So I'm thinking well what the hell are you doing, plus three servers should be able to accommodate the 30 or so patrons that were already there. If you open a new restaurant and want to be successful then work your ass off. We could have easily been accommodated. I'm never going to a Brix again anywhere. Have fun Brix I'll be surprised if you're still around in Keizer next year. read more

Horrible service by the hosting staff, we weren't even greeted when we walk in the door. Why would you say that you don't have any regular, indoor tables available when I can clearly see that you do. I'm sorry that my physical disabilities are an issue that I am unable to sit at high top tables or on barstools. Nor, is it comfortable for me to sit outside in the ridiculous heat, the high today was 98°. Why didn't you say,"if you give us a few minutes, we'll bus the tables that are sitting empty"? We wanted to like this place so bad! I know their grand opening is later this month, and we hear brunch may be good, so maybe we'll go back with friends. TBD. Our server was also the bartender and he was super nice and helpful, but it's unfair of the manager to put all of that on one person. It meant as a server, he didn't have time to check up on us when we needed things because he had to make every drink for the restaurant (which was fine, we asked another server nearby who was happy to help). We recognize that's not his fault, other customers may not. The service is the best part of this place. Marionberry moscow mule ($13.50): Lovely drink. The only non-alcoholic beer option ($6): a can. Chicken sandwich ($16): SO dry. Oh my god. There was a tiny dot of sauce visible on the sandwich bread that was apparently supposed to make the dry sandwich edible. After asking for other sauces from a waiter who wasn't our own, the sandwich was edible. The child's portion of tater tots are your typical freezer-burned tots, and they weren't salted. Chicken skewer "bento" ($13): It's one stick of grilled chicken with white rice and a small amount of your sauce of choice. And $6 for a second skewer? I know it's a Portland restaurant chain, so those prices make more sense out there, but the flavor of it all was so mediocre and definitely not filling. Unfortunately, the restaurant manager Maxwell is the same man who managed the Gustav's that used to be there. He once argued with us after trying to force us to pay for an entree we didn't order (we were two people with two entrees, as evident by the TWO plates on our table. Unsure why he had to pick that fight but his unprofessional language will never be forgotten). Be mindful of your customers who have culinary management degrees, because they can spot your mistakes quite easily. Nearing $40 before tip (and because service was the best part of the experience, we tipped over 20%), I would much rather spend that money somewhere I knew the food would be good and filling. read more

Tried out the "new" Brix Tavern that is where the old Gustav's Bargarten used to be. Interior, not many changes from Gustav's.... Menu, completely new. Looks like a good mix, with standard quick meals. Prime Rib on special nights. And, a Brunch on Saturday/Sunday... I ordered just a Classic Burger with Tots. Nothing outstanding about the burger, just good solid fare. Premade patty... Cheese, Bacon, Tomato and Chopped lettuce... Russian type dressing.... Ordered Medium Well, and came out great! Tots were just warm, and undercooked, but better than several others I've had served. I give them 4 stars on the attentiveness and cordially of the bar serving staff! I was welcomed, quickly offered a taste of the current Cider on Tap. It was a good choice! They were busy as it was the middle of Happy Hour on a Friday, but both servers greeted me and passed me back and forth effortlessly as they each had a second to look up! read more

The only thing saving this from getting a one star revue is the good was technically edible. We should have know at the start when we asked the waitress what the Friday specials were she pointed to the menu. Granted this was her second day, but if that was the case, why did she not have the specials written down to provide to customers. It took us a bit to figure out that she was referring to happy hour, not any specials in particular. Why say you have food and drink specials on Friday if it is just your daily happy hour specials? Next she didn't know the range of non-alcoholic beverages for kiddo. He ordered sweet tea on her recommendation- guess what, that is not a menu item. Now the food - it happened to be at the end of happy hour, so fortunately we got that pricing, because I likely would be hesitant to spend $20 for mac and cheese in a soup cup. At least put it in a wide flat bowl for perception of the serving size. My teen left starving. The seared ahi tuna (which is a shared dish recommendation) was good but not something worth sharing. The Brix chips - meh. Two weird things - there were torn up photo copies of the menu under the bowls. Weird. And at the table next to us, the waitress was delivering a salad to one of the diners, a man (guessing he was maybe the kitchen manager?) swooped in grabbed it off the table and left. Every looked at him perplexed, the waitress left and returned with a side salad. I certainly hope that regardless of the reason, they did not then take it to another customer. Ewww. Very slow service, food was tasteless - I ordered I shrimp skewer and it was super small and it had no taste- the rice that the shrimp came with was cold and also tasteless- I did not get my food for at least an hour and a half! Really wanted to love this place... As we walked in the greeter didn't even look up, told us there was a wait when there were tons of tables open. Had 2 guys come in after us & they were told the same thing & seated before us. Small mistake whatever, no worries. Drinks are WAY over priced for location and taste. Looks like a classy place but it's a tavern, so o didn't expect Portland pricing. Food was over priced for the flavor, no seasoning, & lots of oil. Started with chicken wings. Didn't arrive as an appetizer instead got all our food at the same time. Got the chicken breast with mashed potatoes & gravy, & roasted veggies. And my husband got the French dip & fries. Same thing with his food, no seasoning at all. The tables are so close together that our waitress has to get into your personal space. Very awkward. I thought it was just us, but the table next to us sent food back & the table behind us was talking about how her food was so gross. Waitress was nice but when ordering our food, she was not very nice. If that makes sense. Just not what I expected when I walked in. Looooved Gustavs & the location. Tonight I took my family out to celebrate my birthday and my grandson's birthday. Total there were 6 adults and 3 kids (one being 3 months old). We called ahead for a reservation and when we arrived we had to wait for 20 minutes past the reservation time before we were seated. After we were seated we didn't see any server for another 15 minutes. Once we were able to order we were informed that several of the menu items were already out of stock even though it was only 5:30 PM. We ordered and then waited more. We had finished our beverages and water and couldn't get the attention of any of the employees. 20 minutes later, a couple of meals came out and then another 25 minutes other meals arrived. 3 of us still hadn't gotten our order. When we asked we were told that some of the meals we ordered were now out of stock. Once we got the order meals they were delivered cold. read more

We've been here three times now & each experience has been great! Every food item has been delicious & the drinks good. The atmosphere is clean, open & the TV's are a nice addition to enjoy sports. It can be slow getting seated but we've always had wonderful table side service. We highly recommend it. read more
