My mum was in town so we thought it would be a nice treat for the holidays to go to an Afternoon Tea. Through a Google search I found British Bites and after a short 40 min drive we arrived at our location for our booking. We booked their special Harry Potter Christmas tea and had an absolute blast! The tea room was decorated perfectly and I enjoyed 99.9% of the food. Everything was put together well and I really felt like we were apart of the Harry Potter world for the afternoon. Overall, we didn't interact too much with wait staff but they did check on us once to bring us more tea as our kettle was empty. I would absolutely go back for a regular tea when it's not the holidays to try more of their food items and service. read more

Think you can't find a "proper British afternoon tea" in Washington, well think again! I've experienced afternoon teas in many places in England and British Bites offers a tea that competes with the best. Staff were friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. Their tea menu was large and varied. Savory tea sandwiches were fresh and tasty, scones were perfect and the sweets were to die for. The dining room, tables covered with clean, crisp white tablecloths, classic British decor and flowers created a relaxing environment in which to enjoy the experience of that proper afternoon tea. We tried British Bites in Puyallup and it's been a while, so we decided to try it again on our visit to Centralia today. First, the pasties were delicious ! They come with a salad and it was good, too. They were out of several items on the menu. The entrance to the restaurant is NOT accessible - it has 2 steps. Kind of rules out little old ladies who like high tea, if they have mobility issues. The decor - they're trying. The dining room has tall ceilings and sound reverberates. It would be helped greatly if they'd put nice lace curtains on the bare windows. There are posters of Britain on the walls - they are ok but not cozy. When you go for tea you want cozy. Linen tablecloths adorned the tables. The Dr Who bathroom is still pretty cool. Bridgerton-type music played in background - very nice. Everyone liked their food, so yes, give it a try. read more

It's not the fanciest tea I've ever been to, but it was quite lovely. Mom, sis in law, and I made reservations for a weekday tea and the restaurant was pretty empy, but it was okay because we got there right when they opened. They gave us a tea menu where more than half the teas were marked off as unavailable, but we found a couple of teas we liked. I went for the English Grey and that was the large pot of tea we got. You also get a smaller pot so my SIL got some african fruit tea and she loved it. We got our tea goodies and my word, they are very generous with the sandwiches, which made me happy as a clam because I love sandwiches. We had so many goodies that we had to take some home. This place has different seating areas and photo ops, like the waiting area has some Diagon Alley scenery and there is a Queen of Hearts background, and other places to make your tea fancier. They would get 5 stars from me if they had devonshire or clotted cream, but I understand that it's a pricey item to keep fresh and in stock. Still, when I think tea, I need my scones with cream. I am originally from the UK and decided to try this cute little place out. They had a nice selection of bakery treats and their Lemon Vicky was delicious! I was however a bit disappointed in the pastie. I ordered cheese and onion but am not sure it had any cheese in it and seemed a bit dry and lacked flavor . It would have been nice to have some gravy ( although not standard ) to pour over the top. Also no British HP sauce? I would think this to be a staple at any British restaurant. read more

OMG!!! I love this spot. I fell in love with afternoon tea when I was on my honeymoon in Ireland and now that I know this place is here I will be coming regularly. I got some of their fantastic lil baked goods and ended up buying a ploughman's pasty. Can't say enough about this place. And the employees were very pleasant and nice. read more

Too bad there is no zero stars!! Made a reservation, looks like they "fit us in"! We didn't get at least two of the items everyone else got. When my wife flipped her cup to pour some "tepid" tea, her cup had dried food on it. Tried for about 5 minutes to get the waitress attention. NO LUCK! Wife had to get up and bring her the dirty cup. She apologized took it in the back brought it back cleaner but not clean. Wife said whatever, lets eat. Sandwiches were pretty much tasteless. She moved up to the scones, when she got some jam for her scone!! Guess what?? There was a hair in the jam!! DISGUSTING!!! We got up and left, the manager said something about the people she hired! We didn't have to pay not that I was going too! We have been to quite a few afternoon teas but nothing as horrible as this!!! read more

We made the trek out to Centralia just for British Bites! We loved their potato jackets when they had the location in Puyallup and we missed them! The cafe is pretty great - lots of space, large bathroom, great menu. A lot of items were either not available or not ready yet which was kind of crappy since we drove so far. the bakery case was completely empty and I think the only option they had was millionares shortbread. And now for something completely different! Such fun to walk into a dining room with linen on the table and tea pots with cozies. I enjoyed a Ploughmans Pastie with a salad. So good. And of course a pot of tea. Took home a few goodies from the bakery counter took. Very cute environment. Wonderful service and even a "Tardis" themed restroom. Well worth the stop. read more

Table setting included dirty cup. But the icing on the cake was hair in the food. Kitchen was a disaster. Food that I ate before we found the hair was not well presented. We did not get the same tea service other tables got...I guess they ran out. Curry was a swipe some of the bread had nothing. Ham had so much mayo could not taste. Sausage roll had no taste at all. Egg salad was on hard roll and there was no salt at all. Praying tea pot was clean but water was not at correct temp...to cold...barely hot at all. We had no sugar on table, had to wave down for sugar. Dirty tables not bused before they seated next seating of patrons. There were very few items in bakery case. They comped the Meal but I will never be back. Manager said in response the dirty service was "I should have never hired her?" Unacceptable. If you as manager have unsanitary service..SHUT THE DOOR!! When greed for a buck put patrons at risk...not good. read more
