Stopped in for a bite to eat. Was pleasantly surprised by the veggie omelet I had full of vegetables. American Fries with pepper and onions topped it off. I stopped for lunch at the Bristol Diner (formerly Riverside Diner) recently. This classic breakfast & lunch diner was built by the Pollard Co in the 1920s. The front lunch car portion houses a long lunch counter with stool seating plus attached kitchen and dining room (with booth seating) sections. The breakfast menu offerings include eggs, omelets, French toast, pancakes, and breakfast sides. The lunch menu offers grilled & cold sandwiches, burgers, deep fried steak & cheese wrap, quesadillas, hot dogs, chili, salads, chicken tenders, chopped sirloin fried seafood, liver & onions, homemade fries & onion rings, and desserts (pies, cakes). Fresh brewed coffee is from Donahue Bros and Pepsi fountain drinks served. Beer is available including Budweiser, Bud Light, Miller, Miller Lite, Coors Light, Michelob, Guinness, Corona, and St. Paul NA. The prices here are fair, all items under $10. I sat up at the lunch counter for quick service. I got an ice water and I decided on the BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwich ($5.95) served with chips & dill pickle chips, but I upgraded the chips to homemade fresh cut shoestring fries (add $1.50). The food was ready in 10 minutes. The big sandwich had tender pulled pork (some fat) with a sweet BBQ sauce and melted cheese on a large soft toasted bulkie roll, pretty decent overall. The hot homemade fries were okay, a bit of a soft texture and not too greasy. The service was attentive and quick. A visit to the Bristol Diner is a trip back into the types of home town restaurants we all dream of. There is a traditional bar for dining as well as several tables, nicely spaced out for privacy, but that does not matter much because everyone is so friendly that cross table conversations are common. The staff greets everyone as family, and many of the clients appear to be regulars. My father-in-law is a regular on Sundays, and by the time he makes it to the table his coffee and paper are waiting and they know what he wants. The selection of menu items is excellent for both breakfast and lunch, but make sure you try the homemade corned beef hash, it is among the best I have ever had. The Hollandaise sauce for the benedics are also homemade and very rich and smooth with just the right bite. read more

The quality and quantity of the food is exceptional. The menu has a wide variety of breakfast and lunch dishes to choose from, different specials each time we've come in, and the staff was very friendly and attentive. The homemade, king size blueberry pancakes are amazing and the hand-cut home fries are the best we've ever had. The coffee has an extra kick that jump started our day, so when it comes to breakfast we always make sure to stop in here when we're in the area. The last time we were in, we found out the diner is open for prime rib on Friday nights. We will definitely be visiting here a Friday night when we are in the area. The Bristol Diner has always served amazing food ever since I was a child. Their food is great price and their breakfast items are amazing. If you ever want a place to go to for breakfast to go to the Bristol Diner or for lunch. They have a very cute inside because it looks like how a old Diner used to, you can sit either at the bar or you can sit at booths and side and in the summer you can sit outside on the back porch which is really nice. Although I'm not a "regular" I have traveled to Bristol quite a few times since 2013 to go to this diner. It was always good, except my last three visits. We went for lunch once and breakfast twice. The breakfast's on both occasions were extremely disappointing. Normally great homefries, they were burned, and I mean black burned, with one having the chili on it, and they were horrible. Also, the food was cold both times. I sent back the side of baked beans to be warmed because they were actually room temperature. The rest of the food was slightly warm but I wasn't going to send back burned homefries to be microwaved. The waitress never came back to get the check, I had to take it to the register myself. I hope the owners see this and take a look at it because I used to really like this place. Now I may not return. read more

Stopped here for dinner on a Friday evening. (the only day they are open late). Special of the day was prime rib! It was the best prime rib I have had in a while. I decided to try breakfast a couple weeks later. My wife had french toast- they were light and she said they were the best she had ever eaten. I had the biscuits and gravy- 3! large biscuits,sausage gravy, pan fries (best ever!) and 2 eggs. Now I can't wait to try lunch! read more
