Empanada

This is the closest to Puerto Rico you are going to get. The food here is amazing. Always hot and fresh. I lived in Miami and have been to a lot of Latin restaurants and Brisas Del Caribe in Lancaster is still my favorite. Take out is their specialty as there are no seats just one table. They speak English and Spanish and welcome anybody into their restaurant. Definetly gotta try them out!

LOCATION: This new location sits on the second floor of a building. Steps are pretty narrow, so I can't imagine the elderly being able to climb a flight and a half of steps to enjoy such delicacies. So the new location is absolutely beautiful and more fancy than their old location. I love the ambiance. I went there on a Saturday at approximately 4:00 p.m. and there was Zero clientele. It seems like this place may have lost a lot of customers due to the location being on the second floor, but I could be wrong. I'll be honest, very clean, well lit with many slits of skyline above. I love the decor it still reminds me of Old San Juan, along with the Spanish music playing in the background. FOOD: amazing as always, even though I was struggling because they removed one of my favorite dishes from the menu, which was ropa Vieja. You get a lot of food on your plate, and all of the dishes are very flavorful and cook to order. CUSTOMER SERVICE: I love how attentive the staff were even though we were the only ones in the place. The waitress is very knowledgeable about the dishes and extremely accommodating. I wanted something simple to drink like a lemonade, and they made me some from scratch, so I was so thankful. I would definitely recommend coming to this place if you're looking for authentic San Juan dishes

The prices can be a little off putting but the portions are large and you can very easily get two meals out of one entree. Great staff, decor, and music added a welcome ambiance to a great meal.

One of the positives is they have their own parking lot, which makes it easier to visit in downtown Lancaster. The restaurant is set up in a cafeteria style where you can go through the line and see all the amazing food they have behind the glass to choose from. The employees will fill your plate/to-go container with the items you choose. They also do not skimp when filling your plate! I bet ours weighted a couple pounds! The large plate is only $17! On this first visit we stayed to the basics we know and love- yellow rice w/beans, roasted pork (pernil), sweet plantains, and a beef and cheese empanada. Everything was bursting with flavor and seasoned perfectly. The food we tried was the best we've had in PA! GSL is easy to get to off rt 30 and you can pre-order online for take-out. I highly recommend!

The food was flavorful. I got the goat, and morcilla (blood sausage) and my partner got the beef, platanos, and yuca. His beef was fall-off-the-bone tender, platinum, and yuca was great. My goat was a bit chewy, and morcilla a bit dry, but still very tasty. I'd definitely come back to try their other à la carte dishes. There are so many choices even if I went back every day for lunch for a week, I still would not be able to sample all that they offer. I couldn't take a pic of my partner's plate as it was so good he inhaled all of it, I barely got any, and that's how you know his plate was amazing!! Service was awesome as well, the lady was so nice and helpful.

First off LOVE the domino's setup inside the restaurant. Great cultural references to Puerto Rican and Dominican Culture. Menu is pretty extensive with tons of traditional dishes such as mofongo, tostones, pernil, rice and beans, pollo guisada, carne guisada, etc. We did the Lancaster Restaurant Meal Deal. 3 course for $29 dollars. Now don't get me wrong food was EXCELLENT. But 29 dollars was a little steep compared to other Puerto Rican and Dominican Cuisine restaurants in the Lancaster, York, Lebanon Areas! We got Tostones (garlic sauce was AMAZING!) typically tostones are served with mayoketchup (they have their own version of mayoketchup which was good as well!). The second course was their Pernil, Yellow Rice and side of beans. Also a fantastic dish. The Pernil was not fatty at all and had a great marinated flavor! The smoothie was the 3rd course. Morir Soñando. Think of an Orange juice smoothie/milkshake. Not orange creamsicle. I could drink one of these everyday! Very good would like to go back for the mofongo!
