This salon is in such a fun part of downtown Gresham. Right on Main street, surrounded by lovely restaurants and boutiquey shops. There are burgers, pizza, Mediterranean, ice cream, and strong margaritas all within a quick hop, skip & a jump from Brilliance. I've only had my nails done here, but each time I arrive for my appointment upstairs, I walk past lots of gorgeous hairdressers busily tending to some equally beautiful clients. All smiles and looking fabulous. Deborah is my NUMBER ONE favorite manicurist on the planet! She is so exceptionally talented, all her products are high quality and her attention to detail is simply wonderful. My nails look splendid much longer than what I have experienced from other manicurists in the past. My habit now is to schedule with Deborah for next time, at the end of each appointment. Just had a cut with Lauren and it was awful. Besides the fact that it took literally 15 minutes and cost me $45. The cut is nearly noticeable, not to mention I left with shampoo in my ear. When I made the appointment I was told $35 then I was called to let me know that I would be with a different stylist, they didn't tell me it would also be $10 more. Never again. read more

Yay!!! First time getting my nails done out here 8n OR and THANK goodness it was a great experience! I heard about this shop through one of the sweet ladies that work there who is part of a Facebook group I'm in. She was offering a special and sounded great so I contacted her immediately to see about the deal and setting up an appointment. I was working with Elizabeth and Not only was she very responsive and kind but she was willing to work around my very particular schedule. Any full-time working mother and wife knows getting something done for yourself is nearly impossible these days since everybody closes by the time you're off work or you have any time to go anywhere by yourself. Fortunately, the shop is open late and Elizabeth is very flexible with her clients. I highly recommend her specifically if you find yourself struggling with finding available appointments or times to get something special done for yourself. I got the full set of acrylic nails with an option of several different solid colors. she also offers nail art but that's not really my gig so I skip that. If I were to say anything negative about this experience it would be that I do wish there were more color options available but nonetheless the ones that were available were quite pretty and spanned across the board from Pops of color and craziness to your classic neutrals and work-appropriate tones. The shop is super easy to locate in downtown Gresham and as far as I can tell it is clean and the girls who work there are friendly. However my particular experience was with Elizabeth so if I were to say anything great it would be solely based on the customer service and skill sets showed at my appointment! read more

Alicia took a set of butchered extension that another salon ruined (see other reviews of what my hair looked like before I got to Alicia) and made my hair a masterpiece! I feel so confident now after spending a lot of time crying after another salon ruined my hair. Great environment, prices reflect the quality of work done here! I found this place on yelp! Booking online was very easy and I was able to get a same day appointment. I was lucky enough to get the owner and it was really great connecting with her and chatting! She's been in the industry for a long time and it was clear her focus is her staff and the people... WHICH I LOVE. Located in downtown portland, it was in a good spot if you wanted to walk around and get food or coffee or do some shopping. My haircut looked awesome too. She helped me get a lot of movement in my hair. I cut off a decent amount (in my opinion) and added a bunch of layers and I was really pleased. I felt like the price was good too (but I don't have much to compare too for price since I don't get a cut often). read more

This is a review regarding one particular hairstylist who was fresh out of school. I had been getting my hair colored and cut at Brilliance for 5+ years, unfortunately the negative experience my friend and I shared was significant enough to keep us from returning. My friend specifically, had a horrible experience. She had asked for the stylist to simply lighten her blonde color. During the process my friend realized she was using an excessive amount of bleach which turned her hair yellow (the same color my hair turned into after I saw the same stylist). Then to compensate for the saturated yellow she used too much toner and it turned her hair purple. When she finished my friend was left with a patchy, fuchsia purple head. The stylist tried to wash it out (several times) which only caused massive damage to her hair. It was left broken and dry. The stylist tried to recover from the mistake by stating how the purple was cool and she could keep the color, but my friend had specifically told her she can't have colored hair for her job. They compensated her for the damage and unsatisfactory result, however when I went back (out of embarrassment for recommending them to my friend) they seemed defensive about the issue. I still like the experienced stylists at Brilliance, but I hope they do not hire any more stylists with little to no real salon experience. read more

If you are in Gresham or not, Brilliance is a great choice. I've been going here since middle school (I'm 23) and Kate is amazing. I always get foil highlights and a cut and she does an awesome job! While Kate was on maternity leave I went to see Heather twice. The first time to ombré my newly boxed-dyed brunette look that I was getting sick of, and it looked amazing! Didn't trim my cuticles. The paint is uneven and looks grown out (pedicure was yesterday). She used a scrub to soften my feet, asked for a file but she didn't own one. For $50 pedicure ($43 plus tip) I expect way, way more. They also only offered me a drink after my sister-in-law already had gotten up to get me water. Disappointed. Spent $150 total for 3 pedicures with mediocre service and below par quality pedicures. They were friendly upstairs but not at the front desk. read more

I went to this salon after getting referred from a lady I met at a coffee shop. I was excited and ready for my new look. The color came out okay but the cut was horrible. I went back a week later to get it fixed.... yeah 7 inches later and my hair still looks like crap. I couldn't me more miserable about the way I look. I spent $140 to be completely disappointed. I called today (around 12:30ish p.m.) and got an appointment for an eyebrow waxing @ 4 p.m. The short notice appointment acceptance is the ONLY reason why they are getting a second star! I arrived @ 3:55 and stood in front of the store (when I made the appointment they told me they will call me on my cell phone to admit me into the store. Because of the virus they only allowed a certain amount of people). I stood there, and stood there, and stood there. The employees in the store looked at me multiple times. No one came out to acknowledge me, no one called my cell, they admitted a woman who arrived shortly after I. I felt like no one cared and I felt like it wasn't important for them to acknowledge me. The girl at the front desk played around on her personal cell phone. After 30 minutes I had enough and walked away. It is now 5:49 p.m. (same day) and NO ONE has called yet. Heather does an AWESOME job! If you need hair extensions or coloring, she is your girl! I have naturally shoulder length, very thin hair. I had a bad experience with glue in extensions which didn't match and ruined my hair. After consulting Heather, she suggested that we do micro bead extensions instead. BEST decision EVER! Since my hair has been colored multiple times previously and still didn't look good, we decided to just put in some highlights to get my balyage to blend better instead of completely ruining my hair and coloring it all again. I attached some pictures so you can see how she blended things for me to get the perfect balyage. She started doing these extensions for me back in April and I have had the same hair in this whole time. You do have to go in every 2-3 months and get the hair adjusted but it feels brand new every adjustment. I'm very happy with Heathers work and recommend her to anyone, especially someone who has hair extensions. read more

I made my appointment about a week ahead of time after having a minor hair crisis with color elsewhere. Heather was just amazing!!! She wasn't rushed, and she genuinely listened to what I was trying to do with my hair. I showed her some pictures of haircuts that I was interested in and she candidly told me how she could make certain styles work for me. The results were nothing short of fabulous! She took my bleached yellow hair and turned it into a gorgeous multifaceted blonde. And the cut is perfect to boot. What made my experience five stars is that not only did she go over caring for my new hair color, but she showed me how to style it in detail. I am happy to say that I have found my new hair stylist!
